Perfect relaxing getaway
My wife and I had a great experience staying here for our anniversary. The backyard and sunroom are beautiful and well kept. Great place to get away for a relaxing romantic weekend. Also loved the hot tub surrounded by trees. The hosts were very nice and accommodating. Would definitely go back

It was a wonderful place to stay and breakfast was quite good. The owners went above & beyond. The property looks a little more remote than it actually is: which turned out to be super convenient for accessing either Grass Valley or Nevada City.

Wonderful place to get away!
My husband and I stayed here for a weekend retreat to celebrate our anniversary. Our stay was absolutely wonderful! The hosts are so nice and accomodating. The sunroom was stunning and the room was cozy. Highly recommend for a getaway in the woods. We will definitely be staying again!

A lovely weekend getaway
My fiancé and I had an incredible stay at the Bear Den. We enjoyed the property including the hot tub. The hosts were extremely thoughtful by having a fire set up for us to use, a celebration banner and even a box of chocolates for my fiancé who we were celebrating. We would definitely recommend a stay here. Can’t wait to come again!

A cozy hideaway
My friend and I had a lovely stay here for a small birthday celebration. They added some personal touches with a happy birthday sign and made breakfast in the morning. The owners were so nice and helpful with every request we had. This location is close to amazing food and shopping in Nevada City, as well as hiking and other adventures. Will definitely be coming back in the future.

Such a lovely overnight experience in one of northern California’s most iconic, authentic locales. From the welcoming intro by hosts Julie and Ken to relaxing by the koi pond, blissing out in the ample hot tub, reading in front of the outdoor, wood-burning fireplace, and enjoying your custom-made breakfast, it’s the perfect blend of privacy, restorative nature, and thoughtful touches - ice cubes in the freezer, for example!

Lovely setting, awesome hosts!
We had an amazing time. This lovely wooded setting was so relaxing and beautiful. We had several soaks in the very nice hot tub. We enjoyed the outdoor seating area with a waterfall and Koi pond. We slept well— the bed was so comfortable! The hosts gave us complete privacy but were reachable when we needed anything. We look forward to revisiting this location in the future. The property itself is laid out to be very tranquil. The hosts, Ken and Julie are fabulous people and made the stay even more enjoyable. My biggest decision was which part of the yard did I want to settle into. I chose a different part each time and I will be back. Amazing location and hosts.

Peaceful and Private Setting
Julie and Ken are the perfect hosts, and their Bear Den was the perfect peaceful and private setting for a last minute, one night getaway for two, complete with a scrumptious more-than-continental breakfast. We plan to return in the spring when we can stay longer to enjoy the amenities and for Hubby to do his astrophotography thing. I can't wait!

First of all, Ken and Julie were absolutely the best hosts. Whatever question we had, they answered. The breakfast they set out each morning was delicious- Julie makes the best blueberry muffins. We had the entire area (sunroom, jacuzzi, barbeque area, outdoor fireplace area, and outside sitting area by the koi pond to ourselves. Everything was super clean. Our bed was comfortable. It is very clear that the hosts love this place and take great care of it. We cannot wait to go back.

Every moment of our stay, from Julie's warm welcome at her front door until our pulling out of the driveway, was about as flawless as I could imagine. Fast and responsive "pre-stay" communication, Julie's orientation to the property, the courtesy, the friendliness, the respect for privacy, the room and environment itself (the whole backyard and sunroom) was just absolutely fantastic. You are adjacent to the Municipal Airport (you won't hear a THING...waterfall, jazz on sweet outdoor speakers, and the forest that is their backyard block any unpleasant noise), so you can waltz up to the top of their property and watch plane action (may want to check with Ken and/or Julie first). Breakfast was made-to-order and delicious. The hosts are chill, interesting and lovely people! Highly, highly recommended.

EXCELLENT WOODSY GETAWAY
Our experience was excellent, next time we will stay more than one night, ALL PERFECT! Went to see the last of fall and all was perfect fall color surrounding this property. Property managers were perfect, fixing homemade waffle and bowl of oatmeal that was part of an amazing breakfast! Pleanty of alone time and lots fo help as needed from property managers. High Praise, bed very comfortable, BBQ clean and easy to use, wonderful outdoor fireplace to hang out in front of into the night! Thank you for a great memory and will be back in the spring!

Picturesque and Relaxing
If you want a place to stay that feels like home, somewhere where you can relax, and enjoy the views, this is the place for you. The owners, Ken and Julie, made us feel at home the minute we arrived. They were kind, friendly, and courteous. Their home was beautiful and quiet. They had everything we needed and the bed was comfortable. They gave us great suggestions on eating out and places to go. Wonderful Stay at the Bear Den
Our hosts created a wonderful experience. In addition to our room, they shared a beautiful sunroom and a patio overlooking an attractively landscaped backyard. This included a waterfall and Koi pond. Breakfast was included, which was a special treat. The bear den theme was felt throughout.

We loved our time at Ken and Julie's home in Grass Valley. It's a wonderful setting and excellent getaway, close to everything but still tucked away in the forest where you can get some great downtime. Highly recommend!

A Wonderful Weekend Get Away
Such a lovely home to relax, unwind. Ken and Julie are wonderful hosts, they made sure we have everything we need. The Bear Den room is so cute and comfortable. It was so nice to have breakfast in the sunroom. This is where we spent most of our time, watching TV, playing billiards. I love the privacy of this place; I enjoyed their hot tub as well. Makes you feel like you are away from the city. Location is great, close to restaurants and shopping. We will definitely go back. We so much loved our stay here.

Exactly what we needed!
For my husbands birthday I was looking for a place to stay near Grass Valley/Nevada City. This place was perfect! Julie and Ken went above and beyond to make our stay amazing. We enjoyed sitting in front of the fire at night and the delicious breakfast the next morning. Would definitely recommend.
