Historic Cottage in the Heart of the Village

Welcome to Bancroft Cottage, a charming oasis in the heart of town. Stay in one of the village's original homes, built in 1824 and lovingly restored with modern amenities. From the fully furnished interior to the beautifully landscaped yard and patio, you'll find a relaxing space located within steps of shops, restaurants, the Farmers Market, the TJ Evans Bike trail, and Denison University. Truly the best location in the village!

We offer a unique setting for guests visiting Granville and its surroundings. You can expect a quiet residential neighborhood of historic homes, steps from dining and retail experiences as well as Denison University. The house has 3 upstairs bedrooms as well as a queen sized pull out sofa bed downstairs. 2 of the bedrooms have queen sized beds. The third bedroom has 2 twin beds. Full bathroom is downstairs with a 1/2 bath upstairs. Snuggle up by the fire inside the cottage during colder months, or relax on the patio surrounded by greenery when it's warm. No matter the season or reason, there's something to discover here.

A note about our cleaning protocol:
We employ professional cleaners to ensure a sparkling home for each new booking. We follow Airbnb's professional guidelines, including the following:
1. High-touch surfaces like doorknobs, remotes and light switches are sanitized between bookings.
2. We use cleaners and disinfectants that are approved by global health agencies.
3. Each room is cleaned extensively.
4. Extra cleaning supplies are provided for you, so you can clean as you stay.
5. Protective equipment is worn during cleaning.

Note that the Village of Granville strongly encourages maintaining social distance as well as the wearing of facial coverings in public spaces, including shops and restaurants.

*Beginning in June 2021, the courtyard and barn will be in use as part of a craft cidery. It will be a quiet tasting room/ winery concept. The cottage has its own private space, but the cidery courtyard can be accessed through the back gate if desired. We hope that our guests stop over to say 'hi' and enjoy a local craft cider in the barn or the courtyard. Let us know you’re a guest at the cottage for a free cider tasting flight!

*Chiminea is provided on the back patio. Please bring your own firewood/starters if you'd like to utilize. Thank you!

*1 night stays are welcomed Monday-Thursday. 2 night stays are required for Friday & Saturday bookings**

We’ve had the pleasure of staying at Bancroft Cottage several times while visiting family in the area, and each visit feels like returning home. The house is filled with laughter, memories, and moments that make it so special to us. Watching our kids grow and create new memories with each stay is something we cherish deeply. The warmth from the fireplaces, combined with the cozy and inviting design of the house, makes it the perfect place to relax and unwind. Thought we booked for 2 nights ( more than a mos. in advance) and then saw it was only 1 night. tried e-mailing to correct..no response, called ...slow response and person who called said they weren't in charge. Unhappy. Place was nice BUT the bedroom with twin beds seems VERY unsafe, stairs on landing etc.

An ideal mother daughter cottage stay
A charming historical property in the center of the quaint town of Granville. Everything was accessible as we explored the area, and we walked to Main Street for ice cream and coffee. The garden seating is so inviting we decided to make our meals and dine outdoors rather than head out. The garden does back up to a cidery but that was not a detraction and it quieted down early every evening. Very happy for the central AC. Overall, we felt very comfortable during our stay and would not hesitate to book again for future visits!

Bachelorette fun in Granville
This little cottage is located in the heart of downtown Granville, Ohio. It is within walking distance of all the restaurants and fun cool places to be and to hang out. The cottage itself is so beautiful and quaint - full of history, which we were not aware of until we got there highly recommend fun little place to go.

As Always One of Our Favorite Places
We have been staying here for the past 4 years a couple times a year. We absolutely love everything about this vintage cottage house. The outdoor garden seating is quaint. There is a cidery behind the house called Seek No Further and we were able to sit outside in the backyard of the home and hear the band they had playing. It was an added bonus.

Such a charming home. I only wish it was mine. Had a great weekend with girlfriends. Enjoyed every aspect of the home (the decor, clean linens, fresh coffee and tea, wine in the adorable courtyard, cocktails around the kitchen table, the tasting at the cidery right out the back gate, good music and company in front of the LR fireplace, close proximity to the main street and wonderful restaurants). Completely taken aback by the casual comfort and relaxing atmosphere of the Bancroft Cottage. We came down to watch our Denison daughter swim for a busy weekend. The Bancroft Cottage was “home base” in a hectic weekend where we could relax, unwind and refuel for the next event. Christmas in Granville with all the “Hallmark” trimmings was just icing on a fabulous 4 days weekend. Don’t forget to hit the Cidery, Whits and the Sugary Sweet!
