We stayed at the "Quirky Cottage" for a girls weekend get-a-way. We had a wonderful time! The location is very close to downtown, with quick drives to the social district, restaurants, shopping, and city beach. When we weren't out and about, we did cook some meals from home, utilized the firepit for s'mores, and enjoyed a board game or 2. If we had questions or issues, the owner was very quick and friendly to respond as well.
Having said all that, this house is an older home and there is a very prevalent slant or slope to the foundation. We were caught off balance a few times during our stay. No big deal, but if someone were to have balance/mobility issues already this could be a problem.
There was one thing that ended things on a low note. We woke up Saturday morning to mouse droppings on the kitchen table. We hadn't seen any mice, but we quickly messaged the owner and he offered to bring traps. Since we were heading out, I explained it was up to him and when we got back around dinner time I hadn't heard anything and he hadn't come. Later that night, we were enjoying a board game and a mouse/mice showed up. We obviously screamed, as girls do haha, and I messaged the owner that the mouse had appeared, and we were pretty shaken. He was kind enough to drive out with the traps that night, explained how they worked and installed them around the kitchen and pantry. He was very kind and even chatted with us a bit. The owner also offered for us to stay an additional night, if we wanted, to make up for the mouse situation. We declined; while it was kind to offer we needed to get back we weren't really looking to stay in a mouse house any longer.
After he left, we watched the mouse go from under the piano, to under the fridge, to the table and back to the piano. Then suddenly one popped up from under the couch. At this point it was late and, honestly, I had anxiety going to bed since I had the bedroom off the kitchen.
In the morning it was clear the traps had not worked (yet). There were droppings on the kitchen table again, chairs, floor, and on the nightstand of the bedroom. After that, we packed up and got out asap. I informed the owner of what we found that morning and he apologized once more and wished us safe travels.
I don't want to begrudge the property/owner, but the mouse really became a source of stress.
