For a family ski trip or a sunny weather getaway, this recently renovated, vacation rental will wow your whole group with amazing mountain views, a huge chef's kitchen, and a spacious great room with a deluxe set-up for entertainment (including surround sound).

Located just blocks away from the popular downtown Government Camp, you'll be able to easily walk to restaurants, shops, and the Summit Ski Area. Mt. Hood Skibowl is just on the other end of town, about a mile from your door. In addition, Timberline Lodge and Mt. Hood Meadows are both within a short drive. In winter, Brooke and Dan's is a great home base for skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, or even snowmobiling in the nearby Mt. Hood National Forest lands. In the summertime, the Cascade Mountains offer hiking, biking, and fishing. Most of the ski resorts are covered in wildflowers and have operating chair lifts for scenic rides and hikes down the mountain.

When you enter the main floor of this Mt. Hood retreat, you'll be greeted by the spacious great room. With tall, slanted ceilings, a pellet stove, gleaming hardwood floors, a TV, and lots of space for your whole group to socialize, this may end up being your favorite area of the house. You can come back from a hike and watch a movie - there's Netflix and Amazon Prime streaming, as well as a DVD/Blu-ray player (please provide your own DVDs/Blu-rays). If you want to just unplug and relax, there are plenty of spots to curl up with a good book or take a lazy afternoon nap. At night, you can even view the Skibowl lights from the large picture windows.

When it's time for a meal, head into the full kitchen space for gorgeous granite countertops and all major appliances (including a dishwasher). Create everything from a hearty weekend brunch to a roast chicken dinner. And when it's time to sit down and eat, have everyone gather at the dining table and breakfast bar. In nice, sun-filled weather, head out to the covered deck for an outdoor meal or a barbecue. You'll have a gas grill so you can flip some burgers and chill the beers. There's even a private hot tub!

If you have a larger group, please note that this home can be rented as the five-bedroom Brooke and Dan's Retreat.

Overall, a B+ score
We were generally very pleased with the house. The location is excellent, the setting is quiet but also within very easy walking distance of Government Camp's small downtown. The house is large and slept our group of 8 people very comfortably (with the exception of one of the upstairs single beds, which really needs an upgrade!). The only real complaint we had was the hot tub -- it is clearly an older model, and it was either scalding hot, or lukewarm. We respected the owners' very clear instructions not to adjust the hot tub's temperature (the controls were not obvious in any case). But we were frustrated by not being able to use the hot tub much at all. In the mornings and early afternoon it was tepid, in the late afternoons and early evening it was quite literally scalding. As it stands we'd recommend the house as long as people are not planning to use the hot tub much. If the hot tub is fixed or replaced, we would recommend this house without any reservations at all!

The home is beautiful! Loved the overall design and deco, especially in the main room. We would each like to have a set of those comfy rocking chairs.Very nice location and pretty setting. Unfortunately the hot tub was overly hot and then became murky and had a smell of sulfur to it. I was happy to see that some hot tub towels were provided after it was written that we would need to bring our own beach towels. We needed the property manager to come start the pellet stove. The dishwasher ran, but failed to dispense any soap. The upstairs bed in the alcove by the office did not have any support whatsoever. There were no pillows on the master bed when we arrived, making me kind of wonder whether or not the bed had been freshly made. We located many pillows in the bedroom closet, but hardly any pillow cases. The downstairs shower was hard to figure out, as was the oven in the kitchen. ( My friend burnt her brownies.) A few extra dishcloths and kitchen towels would have been appreciated. The Vacasa property manager did come out on our second day and start the pellet stove with a small butane torch and he mentioned how to adjust the hot tub temp., but it never did get cooler. The directions for setting the house alarm upon leaving need to be clearer. We did not figure it out. We would happily have started a laundry wash, but there was no laundry soap to be found. As a suggestion it would be nice to provide one season sno-park pass for guests. No, I would not stay here again because of all of the inconveniences. The place needs upgrades. We did have a good time, though. Thanks for listening.

Perfect family get away
Kids loved the hot tub, especially after playing in the snow. The home was very clean and warm with the fireplace lit upon arrival. Prime location, we could walk into town for dining and walk over to ski bowl for tubing. And omg heated toilets!!

Stayed for a week
The deck is the best feature on this house! Really peaceful. The kitchen has the basics, but some things need to be replaced. However, we were able to bill some very good meals there! Beds were comfortable! House is very conveniently located. The TV audio didn’t work, and Vacasa sent someone out to fix it within a few hours of my call (had to reset the satellite dish). Went to do a load of laundry, washer worked great, but the dryer did not work.

Great Place! Cozy and close to everything!
This was a great house. It had everything we needed and more. Plenty warm, very close to restaurants, and very close to the ski resorts, trails, and sledding hills. It was also very clean upon arrival with a nice warm fire to welcome us. It had plenty of sleeping space for our large group. The hot tub was nice and hot. The only downside was the beds. Personally, I felt the beds upstairs were not comfortable. They were hard with scratchy sheets. That was the only negative part though, everything else was great!

Great getaway
I love everything about this cabin, except the check out time! The cabin is cozy, kitchen is well equipped, comfortable beds- perfect for a friend's getaway! The only change I would make is the 10am checkout time. I have never had a checkout time before 11am, and it really does make a difference! I wish this would be mentioned before booking. Otherwise, we loved our stay!

Comfy & Convenient
Comfortable home nestled in a cute neighborhood minutes from Govi, the house is a bit outdated but has everything one might need during a ski vacation. Best feature is the jacuzzi. Perfect temperature when I arrived. Laundry in the basement was another plus. Kitchen is well equipped for cooking. Master bedroom bed was comfy and both bathrooms have heated toilet seats which is amazing. Pellet stove was working sporadically and tough to keep lit and the TV needs an upgrade with streaming services so guests can watch Netflix, Amazon etc...also no stereo or blue tooth speaker for music.

Great location fair cleanliness
We loved the location of this home although there were some cleanliness issues. We expected the place to be a little cleaner especially during a pandemic. We found cigarette butts behind the hot tub. Trash in one of the bedrooms was filled with candy wrappers and there were several hairs on the shower and in the beds. We did find some old coffee grounds in the coffee maker and the grill was stained with grease. The beds were uncomfortable leaving us a sleepless night. The hot tub was great.

Fun for the family
We loved the sledding hill right next to the house, so we didn't have to drive anywhere in the snow to get to the fun!

Cozy, peaceful, and close to Ski Bowl
The view off the deck or from the entire great room are of snow covered trees . You can hear the creek running while you soak in the hot tub. The bedding is comfy too! The oven and stove cook hot but the 2 right side burners work fine.

This place was perfect for our multi-family mini-vacay!
We shared this home with 1 other family for a 2 night/3 day mini ski vacation. We could have stayed for double that time and STILL not have been ready to go home! Government still had SOME snow (although not inundated) by the time we arrived in late March. Exploring the whole area was SO much fun... so easy to walk into the village and explore up and through the Glade trail. We felt so free during our free time! And our crew even had an AMAZING blast creating a sled luge on the side of the property! Watch out, Olympic Team! :) And what a TREAT to have a 15 minute drive to and from Mt. Hood Meadows each day. We are from the Portland suburbs, which usually means a 90 minute drive... so this was a perfect vacation near home. The layout was really convenient for our 2 families. The kitchen was WELL stocked and we weren't short on towels. So much room to play games, gather around the island, and relax when we weren't skiing. We REALLY appreciated little touches... like being able to dry our gear in the dryer downstairs... and the mitten/boot warmer in the foyer. It was wet spring conditions, so our gear would've been really wet without those bonuses! One "changeable" thing that I would encourage owners to take care of: The twin bed that is in the "loft" outside the master bedroom was... well... unsleepable. We were going to put our daughter on it, but she sank through the unsupported mattress. We ended up having to move the mattress over to the VERY hard wood-frame futon so she could sleep without getting a bad back! Twin mattresses and box springs aren't TOO expensive... so I would definitely recommend fixing this for future renters (maybe even US again!) :) Overall, a very memorable, treasured stay... which had a lot to do with great friends and family... but also a lot to do with a great location!

Relaxing, clean, well-stocked
There was no one else staying in any of the surrounding homes-/cabins. The bedding was cozy and once the pellet stove gets going it was warm. The kids loved sledding on surrounding hills and hot tubbing out on the beautiful deck. I loved the well stocked kitchen and learned how to use the weird stove top. Just use the 2 right side burners. Plently of space for our group of 7. Wish we could have streamed Netflix as was supposed to be the case but we survived. Bring DVDS if you want to watch a movie. Also, a speaker system for music as we did not find a docking system. Very clean with plenty of supplies(T.P, shampoo, cond., paper towel, fish soap, laundry soap)

Nice home but old stove
I would not recommend this property to anyone that wants to use the stove. Oven would not get to temp. Cinnamon rolls that take 25 minutes at 350 degrees couldn't cook in over an hour. Then we tried to broil them to get brown and that was a fail. The burners also cooked either way low or super hot...no in between. It really needs to be replaced...not repaired. Looked to be from the 70's..
