The hostess, Linda was very nice and accommondating. The house was stocked with everything that we needed. The outside was setup very nice. The only complaint was that there wasn't a lake as advertised.

Very cool property
The house and surrounding structures are super nice and uniquely built . Plenty of outdoor seating and cover along with very nice outdoor cooking facilities, my family enjoyed these areas very much. The water level in regards to swimming is to low. However we were able to do some fishing and kayaking on it. The walk to the waters edge is somewhat precarious. Otherwise would have been a perfect place to play. The property owner is very nice and available to help if needed. My family and I will certainly consider staying here again.

Great place for large groups
We had a great time at this property, Linda is a wonderful host and was very accommodating. The facilities are great for large groups and is within reasonable time for many attractions. We enjoyed finishing and kayaking in the property. We had never been to Gonzales, but found out that it is a great little town with lots of little shops to browse around and several good mom and pop restaurants to choose from. Overall a great experience!!

Great Family Gathering Place
The pictures do not do this place justice. We did Thanksgiving a week early and had plenty of room to host 20+ family members for the day and 18 overnight (bunkhouse style with the camper). The outdoor cooking area is the stuff of patio cook’s dreams and there is plenty of food storage. Great neighbors that are just the right mix of leaving you alone and lending a hand. The location was just about perfect as well, about an hour from San Antonio or Austin and about two from Houston. It's nice and quiet but not too far of a drive. You can hear the coyotes at night but have HEB and Walmart about fifteen minutes away. Shiner is just a short thirty-minute drive away, so we did a quick road trip for a brewery tour. The only things I would put on the negative list (if I had to have a negative list) would be the Lake and fishing poles. The dam going out is 100% not the property owners' fault and they did a wonderful job of explaining the situation during the booking process (not to mention it was hardly swimming season even for Texas). However, if you do want to fish, bring your own poles. They do have twenty-ish poles in the shed, but I could only manage to get one to work. But to be completely honest, there were so many other things to do I would have never even noticed if the kids did not ask to go fishing. Overall, I would give it a 9.75 out of 10, we will most definitely be back. Thank you so much. Michael

Great property for outdoor activities
We wanted quiet and reflective time with our faith assembly and this property was perfect for that. It’s much roomier than the pictures depict. Our children, as well as the adults, had lots of fun exploring nature outdoors. The huge, outdoor deck is a terrific place to gather a very large group! Linda checked in with us without promoting to be sure all was well and she also quickly responded to my questions.

Annual Summer Family Getaway
From the moment we stepped on the property our vacation started. The property has a way of sucking you into "relax" mode. Linda gave a thorough walk thru letting us know the important stuff and then quickly disappeared leaving us to family time but was quick to respond anytime I had a question. The house is organized, labeled, more spacious than expected and well stocked. The outdoor kitchen was so much fun, we had enough space for all of us who wanted to pitch in and cook and for others to offer their expertise and support. The numerous fans made even the humid days tolerable. We had rain the 1st 2 days and the house had enough space and games to keep all of the kiddos and adults occupied. I cannot say enough about this property. We had a large group and we all had a wonderful time. I sure hope the Bishops will have us back!

A wonderful place!
"Thank you" will have to suffice for our wonderful experience at your "place" or the lake. We truly appreciate the warmth and hospitality extended to our family. The "place" was inviting and comfortable and peaceful. All of us had a great time despite some rain; sunshine and solitude was extra-nice! The family used the expression "It's like a bit of heaven" often. We look forward to another relaxing stay at your lovely abode. Thank you again for making us feel special and welcome. May the fish bite frequently and the sun shine brightly on this treasure by the lake. --The Hybner Family Caught fish, kayaked, feasted, games, wonderfully accommodating. Watched Venus, Mercury and Mars off the back porch at sunset. Beyond expectations! Thank you!

A Mini Spring Break We Will Never Forget!!
We immensely enjoyed our time here! The house was impressive but we still felt at home and very comfortable. There is so much space and the set up is great. There is something for everyone! We enjoyed cooking outside and enjoying the decks. Especially during the sunsets. Fishing was the best I have ever experienced. The Host, Linda, was more than accommodating and stayed in contact with us in case we had any questions or concerns. My kids (and Husband) are already asking when we will be coming back. Very soon guys, very soon.

Amazing Spot for Large Families. Everything You Could Possibly Need For A Weekend Get-A-Way!!!
We had an amazing time at the Bishop's Lake House this past weekend...Delton and Linda are my aunt and uncle and I have spent a lot of time at the lake house with our families through the years...although, it has been awhile since I have visited, it was just exactly what our family needed in a "get-a-way"... We spent time catching up with one another on the HUGE covered deck, cooking with each other in the outdoor kitchen, kayaking/swimming on the lake and throwing horseshoes & washers.... We have an unusually large family, so the lake house was the perfect venue for all of us to gather and still have plenty of space...large spacious decks with lots of seating, plenty of sleeping areas, indoor and outdoor kitchen with refrigerators, cooking pans and utensils, lots and lots of towels, pillows and bedding available... We truly enjoyed our weekend and we thank you both so much for opening your home to us...the kids are already asking when we can do it again!!!... =)

All ages approved
We have a family reunion vacation every summer and always work hard to find a place big enough that appeals to a wide variety of ages. This place is perfect! The outdoor living spaces are huge, very shady and have fans which make it a favorite place to hang out even on the hottest days. We enjoyed kayaking, fishing, river swimming, cooking breakfast on the huge griddle, playing poker, playing corn hole, etc. So. Much. Fun. The owners are a delight and so helpful! We’ve been renting large homes for the past 11 years and this is an easy favorite for our crew. Highly recommend!

Relaxation Paradise
We stayed with our 4 adult children their spouses and 2 grand children. The outdoor space was perfect for outdoor cooking, game playing and visiting. Kayaking and fishing off the pier was fabulous. We wished the water had been a little higher to rent the pontoon boat but the accommodations worked great for our 10 adults and two children. The owners have put a lot of TLC into the place and have everything available for use.

Fun long weekend getaway
The house was great for our group. Lots of space inside, but the beautiful deck, patio and outdoor kitchen were where we spent most of our time. Linda was a wonderful host. She met us at the property and showed us around on our first day. She was always available for questions and took the time to make sure we had everything we needed. Unfortunately, the water level on the river dropped significantly the 2nd day, so the fishing wasn't as good as we had hoped. Overall we really enjoyed our stay.

Fantastic spot for family reunion!
We surprised our mom for her 80th birthday with a family reunion where all the kids arrived and she was only told to bring a bathing suit and a winter coat as she had no idea where she was going. We didn't give her any details. She was totally surprised to meet us all at the property and was thoroughly excited about the look and feel of everything; much like home, but better because of the character, decorating, and especially because someone else does the clean-up! This location was great for us. We went shopping before we arrived and never left during our stay as we were able to keep busy at the house with food, games, dancing in the large living room, and sitting around the firepit telling stories. It was fantastic and working with the owner, Linda, was soooooo easy via text and phone calls. What a great lady! The entire family loved this location and we have already made plans to come back sometime next year.
