This is a classic Gloucester home, nothing fancy, more like a home away from home for your family. In fact, my family often uses it during the off-season which is one reason I insist this home stay SMOKE-FREE. The view is lovely and on many days the freshest breeze flows through the windows. Good Harbor Beach is less than a mile away. The house has two floors, the bedrooms and bathroom might be smaller than what you are used to. The beds can accommodate up to 5 people. We have an airbed and a cot for people beyond that.
This house is at the dead end of a quiet block, perfect for children to play safely. The driveway has two parking spaces. The small backyard is private, nice for listening to the birds while you relax. There is a dining table with an umbrella, as well as a bench.
Our main floor has an enclosed porch, dining area, fully equipped kitchen with a breakfast bar, and a living room with a flat screen tv that is hooked up to a Roku. The three bedrooms and bathroom are upstairs. They are small and cozy and the beds have firm, comfortable mattresses. Two rooms have Queen-sized beds and the third has a Twin. Each bedroom has an air conditioner. There is a cot and a blow-up bed if you need more places to sleep. We can also supply a Pack'nPlay.
You will be staying in a lovely, quiet neighborhood overlooking a wide expanse of salt marsh near the beach, yet is close to downtown. (This is a neighborhood where people live and raise their families. Please do not book with us if you are looking for more of a party atmosphere). The house sits at the very end of a dead end street. A short drive to the top of the street takes you to the main road to downtown Gloucester or Rockport. Downtown Gloucester is a five minute drive, and downtown Rockport is a little under ten minutes away. Both have many art galleries and dramatic coastal scenery. Gloucester, a historic fishing community, offers many excellent restaurants and bars, most with a seafood emphasis, an extremely scenic and classic working harbor, and a wide range of arts galleries and shops. Rockport is a much smaller and quieter town with a centralized village of shops and a few restaurants. The dramatic beauty of Good Harbor Beach, one of Cape Ann's most popular beaches, is just past the salt marsh behind the house. It's about a fifteen minute walk, or a five minute drive. There are also 3 supermarkets and a CVS within a 5 minute drive. Good Harbor Beach is 1 mile away (15 minute walk or a 5 minute drive).
If you want to arrive before check-in time, let me know and I'll do my best to accommodate you. I live on the block with my wife and family, and we are available to our guests should they need us.
