On the Cove is a spacious three-room apartment is located directly on Lanes Cove in Lanesville (Gloucester) with spectacular ocean views from every room and is literally steps to the water’s edge. It has a private entrance, full kitchen, living room, bedroom with queen bed, off-street parking, private patio with custom granite fire pit and yard.

On the Cove (our house and apartment) was used as a movie set in 2017. You can search for "Katie Fforde: Herzenssache" to find the movie trailer online (it is in German). The property was used extensively, as well as surrounding landmarks such as the Fish Shack and along the rocky coast. Also, you can find our webcam by searching "On the Cove" to check out what's going on and the current weather. Also, the property was part of the 2018 Gloucester Garden Tour.

When you stay, you will enjoy the intimacy of the cove as well as the views of Crane Beach and Plum Island across Ipswich Bay. This area is famous for phenomenal sunsets (National Geographic has called it one of the ten best in the world). Lanes Cove is a favorite spot for artists and kayakers alike.

Lanesville is one of the quaint villages encircling Cape Ann and is conveniently located about 10 minutes from either downtown Gloucester or Rockport. You can swim in the cove or take a short walk to Plum Cove beach. Halibut Point State Park and Dogtown Common are only a mile away. Lanesville was the home of many famous authors, painters and sculptors including Virginia Lee Burton, Walker Hancock, Leon Kroll and Paul Manship. It is also the home of the Manship Artist Residency and Studio--a 15 acre estate with two quarries.

Gloucester itself is only an hour by train or car from Boston and is one of New England's best-kept summer vacation secrets. From earliest settlers in 1623 to today's Hollywood film-makers, the beauty of Cape Ann has drawn people from around the world. Made famous in the movie "The Perfect Storm" and now "Wicked Tuna", Gloucester has a rich maritime history and is the oldest working seaport and active artist colony in the United States. Gloucester's historic fishing port, Rockport's famous art galleries, the unique antique shops of Essex, the New England charm of Manchester-by-the-Sea, and the history and museums of nearby Salem make Cape Ann a truly unique vacation destination.

On the cove relaxing haven

A comfortable apartment, in the walkout basement of a large house nestled in the hillside. We enjoyed having our morning coffee sitting in the chairs outside as we watched the small public access port and sea beyond.

This is a gorgeous, cozy apartment convenient to all of the fabulous places to see and things to do in Cape Anne. In fact, just walk out the door and the views are breathtaking. The owner was SO nice and instantly responded to any questions we had. I can’t wait to return to On The Cove!

A little piece of heaven on earth!
On the Cove was exactly what we wanted and so much more! Any and every luxury has been thoughtfully provided in this little gem. We loved sitting out in the chairs and watching the activity of the cove. Our only regret is we couldn’t stay longer!

Fall weekend
Adorable, well equipped and comfortable! Very clean!!! The ambience of this place was so relaxing and a wonderful place to come “home” to after a busy day of sightseeing. We had a few hiccups during our weekend (nothing to do with this VRBO) but Marissa was such a gracious host! She made us feel like we had a friend in the neighborhood! Would definitely stay here again!

Rainy week on the cove
This property was amazing. Clean and welcoming. We had rain every day and it made it just as enjoyable being able to have this great spot. We spent time all over N Mass and had a great time. They even have everything you need to make your own lobster dinner. Thank you Stan for the great spot and we look forward to visiting again.

Amazing property!
What a wonderful weekend we experienced at On the Cove! The apartment was spacious, clean, and included every amenity one would require for a stay. And the gorgeous view goes without saying. Sandy and Stan were very helpful in restaurant recommendations and activities in the area. Their cat, Peaches, was also very hospitable! We will definitely return!

Absolutely beautiful, relaxing retreat
I had a wonderful weekend stay here I November. The property is beautiful, well appointed and comfortable. I had never done a rental before that was part of a house but with a seperate entrance and garden it feels isolated and private. The space is well decorated and made for comfort. All of the little touches made it feel luxurious. The owners were easy to get in touch with, friendly and accommodating. I had a fantastic get away and would definitely stay again.

Property delivered as promised. The apartment had lots of space with a full kitchen and dining area with plenty of room to spread out in the living room. Heated floors were nice on the feet and maintained the temps in cool autumn evenings. Nice views from every window of the water and harbor. Great place for some peace and quiet. Communication was straightforward and prompt.

Adorable place on the cove
We rented this place to be close to Salem in October but not too close. It was perfect. Half hour drive. Close to train station if you want to use public transport. We had our days filled with activities so really only slept here. Wish we would have had time to enjoy the cove. Gorgeous views. Place was clean and spacious. Bed comfortable. Shower pressure awesome. Everything in kitchen needed if you wanted to cook there. Would def stay again!!
