The location is remote in the forest with an amazing setting in pine and a giant oak tree outback. The beautiful screened in deck, well decorated home, all the amenities, and overall setting make for a wonderful stay!

Okay for large groups
Was a great place, the upstairs rooms having no bathroom access made things tough for our group.
The property was even nicer than the pictures. Very comfortable, beautiful area, everything that we needed.
There were 9 of us with plenty of room to spread out and play games and explore. Would love to do it all again!
We are so impressed with this spot. It is gorgeous! The views are amazing. Host was super friendly and excellent communication. The place was perfectly cleaned. The house was fully functional and exceeded our expectations! The listing is even better in person. Jill was an amazing host!
Jill went above and beyond to accommodate our group, even creating a last minute extra bathroom for us! The house was immaculately cleaned, kitchen is stocked with everything you could possibly need. The property is remote, you will not see another person, but the nearest store/small town is only 3 miles away. The pond was not exactly swimmable when we were there, maybe during a different time of the year it is. Great house, great location, great host.
We enjoyed our weekend stay at Bear Creek Lodge. Jill was accommodating with our arrival time and gave us an informative tour of the lodge upon arrival. Fully stocked kitchen. Lots of room for our family. The master bath is spa like with robes included. We loved having coffee in the morning and dinner in the evening on the screened in porch. The place is private yet close to town if you need groceries.
We took our family on a rafting trip on the American River while there. Fun memories were made, both on the river and at the lodge!
The property and house was beyond beautiful and clean. Very comfortable and Even Better in person, however the owner was extremely rude and condescending all because there was a misunderstanding of additional charges per person that I was unaware of and treated me as if I was trying to get one over on her. We had 5 kids and 4 adults well under the 16 person max. Put a bad taste in my mouth about the overall stay. I would never rent from her again because of how rude she was. Being kind doesn’t take much effort.
We had a nice stay at the property. Its as described in the pictures with a few exceptions. The owners were incredibly friendly, accessible and responsive. The property is about 15min off the main road, and fairly far from a major town, but thats what we wanted. There's plenty of room to take long hikes, but we spent most of our time on the wonderful appointed screened in porch area looking out at the trees. The kitchen was fully stocked and the beds were clean and comfortable. We enjoyed going down to the American River to cool off. The house could hold a 2 family get together as the lower floor is big and has a mini kitchen and full bath (and a ping pong table!). Things to be aware of - the house is off the grid and powered by a generator. There is a bit of a low hum from it but not that noticeable from the house. Other than that you’d never know it was off grid by the amenities. The 3 floors are not connected from inside the house, you have to go out and take a separate path down or stairs up. Also note that during these COVID days, El Dorado County folks seem to be more lax in wearing masks and distancing, so if you are coming from a metro area just be prepared. At the house and surrounding property you won’t see ANYBODY so its all good. All in all a great place to stay!
My fiancé and I stayed for the weekend to celebrate our daughters sweet 16, the kids loved the big lower level set up, with fire pit and ping pong. We were slightly disappointed to find that the art studio was closed for use but I had came prepared and we still painted in the woods. The house was very clean, everything has a place and when I needed cooking spray I had options available. There was plenty of propane and even the driveway was cleaned off prior. Attention to detail was obvious and appreciated. Our family would stay here again.
This is a wonderful house that is well equipped for a large family gathering. The house is tucked in the National Forest and felt like we had the woods to ourselves yet only 15 minutes to Georgetown or Coloma. The kitchen and gathering space worked out well for our group of 12 people.
We stayed at Bear Creek Lodge for a 4 day weekend with my wife and 8 close friends. This was a really magical experience. The love and care put into every aspect of this property really shows, and made our trip very special. The lodge was super cozy, amazingly well stocked, and located on a beautiful forest property that we absolutely adored. The lodge slept all of our guests very comfortably and we all had tons of room to relax and enjoy. Ping-pong in the downstairs floor was a huge hit. The kitchen & grill was in excellent shape and allowed us to enjoy great home cooked feasts every day. The owner is super friend, helpful and prompt, and worked hard to ensure our stay went perfectly. I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a weekend or more away with friends or family!
This is a beautiful home in a wonderful location. We had a large group of adults and the house worked out perfectly. Each couple had their own bed and was able to have space away if needed. The location is perfect for a break away from the city. We are all our meals out on the screened deck. The kitchen had every tool necessary and our large group was able to fit in to the living room nicely for evening chats. Highly recommend.

Not as expected
The property has 3 separate levels with no indoor connection. The main (middle) level has 1 queen bedroom and 1 bathroom. The downstairs level has 2 queen beds, 1 bathroom, and a ping pong table. The upstairs level has 1 queen bedroom, a sitting area, and an office. Everything was thoughtfully appointed, the furniture was very comfortable, and we enjoyed sitting at the dining table on the large outdoor screen porch. Internet and cellular service were spotty and mostly unavailable. Various "owner fees” more than doubled the (advertised) cost of the rental, and the host required an enormous security deposit that she held onto for 2 weeks after we vacated the property. There were hundreds of moths flying around the upstairs rooms (making them unusable), and both upstairs and downstairs levels smelled like moth spray. When we reported the moths, the host gave us a token refund (less than the cleaning fee) with no apology.
If you’re looking for a real serene, off the grid, into the wild experience. This place is for you. It’s beautiful, fully stocked, and totally peaceful.
Very serene and picturesque location. We enjoyed our weekend, and hope to return from another stay. Jill is a great host, and was very responsive to all our questions.
From the hand knotted rug on the screened porch that was built with wood obtained from this stunning property to the tasteful selections made for furnishings throughout the house. Every comfort is provided on this near 150 acre property . The Large kitchen ...well lit , functional and provisioned by an expert . If you are seeking a change of scenery from lockdown , to a safe , refreshing , and private country setting with forest , meadow and pond then look no further A quick scenic drive from S F 5 stars
This property was amazing, what we expected and then some!
Overall the house is stunning and everything you would ever need was provided. The furnishings were beautiful and comfortable, the beds were cozy and comfortable. The outside screened-in porch was our very favorite spot in the house to sit and listen to the birds in the trees and stare out at the beautiful forest landscape. The surrounding property lent itself nicely to small hikes and exploring. We hope to visit again very soon.
