I've stayed in Blackhawk before just not at the Ameristar simply because of the price difference between here and somewhere else. Id rather spend my money on fun than the room I'm never going to be in. But I thought if I paid more for the room that would come with better service than the cheaper ones. Well that's not the case. I actually was treated worse as there was issues with several things from the moment I stepped on the property. #1 no hot water in shower. They sent the engineer up and he did what I had already done. I'm a bathroom renovation contractor. I know how shower valves work. He said if well there gonna have to switch you rooms if I wanted hot water. So I adjusted the valve myself. Hot water good now, pressure is not. I explained this to the manager. I asked for an upgrade for the inconvenience. I was straight up told no. Hmmm so you want me to stay in a room without hot water for $150 a night? Ordered breakfast through the app by far the worst breakfast served with an attitude without even having everything in the order. When I complained to the management they moved me into another room and did refund the money for the food but it took a lot to get that. Overall I did not experience friendliness or professionalism by anyone that worked within the resort. I caught attitude from every person I came in contact with that had anything to do with Ameristar. Never going back again.

Had a great time! Staff was excellent. Price for the hotel room was great. Even made a few hundred on the slots! My teenage kids enjoyed the pool, but this town is not made for kids! Best to just do an adult visit!

The room and property were great. The service at Fireside kitchen was terrible. We waited over 45 minutes to get our food and never got it. Were told after 25 minutes by waitress it was in the window ready to come out and no one brought it out. Another waitress asked us if we needed anything else thinking we had already gotten our food. We said we hadn’t, she said she would check and never did. Timberline Grill - honestly don’t get the Wagyu steak. Way overpriced for the quality and it wasn’t that good. This place is way overpriced for what you get.

All around great. Frustrating to not have a microwave to warm up my leftovers from Fireside that was so good. Parking ramp isn’t easy to navigate but plenty of parking available. Beautiful hotel and casino with lots of great games. Pool and hot tub were great as well. Workout area had great variety and was very nice.
