We invite you to be our guest and indulge in a little rest & relaxation at our charming chalet featuring 1 bedroom, 2 beds (king bed upstairs & sleeper sofa on the main level) and 2 full bathrooms that can comfortable sleep 4 adults.

Inside this 1200 Sq. Ft. two story chalet you will be surrounded by large windows on every wall overlooking the STUNNING VIEWS that the Smoky Mountains have to offer!

MAIN FLOOR: Enjoy the chalets open floor plan so that you never feel like you are missing out on any of the action! Included is a fully appointed Kitchen with all the essential appliances required to cook a full course gourmet meal. Connected to the kitchen, you'll find an intimate dining nook with a perfectly sized round table that can comfortably seat 4 adults. While you are waiting for dinner to be ready, enjoy a game of pool found in the center of our Entertainment room! Once you've finished eating, cozy up on the couch for a movie night and stay warm & toasty with our gorgeously stacked stone, double-sided gas fire place. You'll also have access to our Wet Bar, making it extra convenient to make and sip on some yummy cocktails! A full bathroom and side-by-side washer and dryer are both located on the main floor as well.

SECOND FLOOR: Be ready to take one big EXHALE and let all your worries and stresses melt away as you enter the peaceful and tranquil environment that the Primary bedroom provides for our guests. Treat yourself to a relaxing and therapeutic bubble bath in our large JETTED WHIRLPOOL BATHTUB or take a moment to detox and really let your stresses MELT away in our SAUNA ROOM located next to the EXTRA LARGE walk-in shower with dual shower heads! Ober Gatlinburg Ski Resort is just a stone's throw away (1.4 miles) and everything downtown Gatlinburg (4.7 miles), Pigeon Ford (11 miles) and Dollywood (13 miles) have to offer are within a short drive.

DRIVE SAFE: Buckle up for one of the most scenic drives you'll ever experience as you make your way up the mountain to the Black Bear Chalet! You'll notice from our photos that we hit the jackpot when it comes to having one of the top, most INSANELY BEAUTIFUL and BREATHTAKING VIEWS of the Smoky Mountains! With that said, we like to point out that the roads are curvy as you are driving up a mountain. If you are not used to driving the mountain roads, it can be an interesting experience. It is one of the better mountain roads in the area to drive. Take it slow, focus on the road ahead and you will see what we mean when we say, the views from the Chalet are 100% worth it! As always, drive with caution no matter where you are.

My Honest Review
This was my second consecutive year renting this cabin in July, however, it will be my last. The cabin is exactly as described as far as amenities & location. Cleanliness was horrible. I had to physically catch a mouse the first day. The beautiful master shower is full of black, moldy grout. There are dead bugs on the window sills, and mold in the bottom of the kitchen trash can. When stripping the bed at departure, I found the mattress/cover/pillows were stained and should never have been used. I contacted the owner directly to notify him. I stayed here because I didn’t want the hassle of finding other accommodations, and did not have the time. I did not expect a full refund, as I did stay there, but left it up to him as to what he thought was fair. I offered to send the pictures as proof, but got no response. I spent little time in the cabin this visit using it to sleep, shower and do laundry. Very disappointed in this year’s stay!!!

It was a beautiful view and had great amenities. The hot tub and sauna were very relaxing. The home needed some updates; the couch had a lot of stains and did not really feel comfortable to sit on. The drive up the mountain was very scary and there were not directions provided to the home so when we lost service it made it even more nerve racking to try and navigate the steep mountains. The drive did get a bit easier as our trip went on though so that was a plus. Overall the view was worth it all :) I am sure I will never see a view like that again in my lifetime!!

Honeymoon
We went for our honeymoon. If you just take a quick glance around, it’s amazing. We stayed for 4 nights. The 4th night I woke up itching so badly I could not sleep. I got up and took some Benadryl and put on some lotion. I woke up a few hours later and same thing. This time a red rash had started up my leg. We were leaving that day anyway so we packed up and headed out. As we were headed back to Missouri, my discomfort grew immensely. The itching was completely unbearable. The rash had welted and was now hot and swollen. We stopped at an emergency room on the way home. She said it was likely bed bug bites. After a few days, it only got worse. I went to an urgent care as well. He said it was likely a bacterial infection from the hot tub or jacuzzi tub. I would very believe that as they were both dirty when we arrived. The hot tub foam was brownish gray and left a film on our skin. We had to clean the jacuzzi tub ourselves when we arrived before we felt comfortable using it. The house was covered in dead bugs. I did try to message the owners over a month ago about the concerns but have yet to receive a response. It took right around a month for my rash to go away. Both medical professionals told me it was likely something from the house we stayed in. Beware.

The property needed some tlc. Suggestions, front door inside mat to wipe feet, blinds were missing, weeds have turned into trees blocking view, vines growing up on windows, no trash bags nor directions on how to get rid of trash, no standard blow dryer, need a blanket on bed, couch needs to be frebreezed, stains on carpet, bugs on window sill, carpet could have been vacuumed better, pool table needs a cover on it as people use it to put stuff on and has stained the table, leak in room, makeshift patch job. The view up in bedroom was worth a million dollars but it seems like the pictures on vrbo were very old compared to actual.

View was the only good thing
The property was dirty, alot of things missing. The only good thing was the pool table, hot tube and the view. Walls had scratches all over, the roof had a large hole where water was pouring from the hottube that they just stuck plywood over. We woke up the first morning there to a whole river in the living room. Holes in the walls, no blinds or curtains. And if your not from the area the road driving up is very scarey(obviously not the owners fault but guests should take note. YOU NEED A 4X4 VEHICLE FORSURE!)

Property is cute but dated. As stated in previous reviews, the main level is missing blinds in windows that make it possible for your neighbors to see inside at night. There literally are no blinds in several side facing windows toward other chalets. This is actually quite ridiculous. Use the money people are paying you to buy some blinds. The wall coming up the stairs could also use one coat of paint to cover the two-tone patch job that is currently there. The amenities are nice but this place could use a couple hundred dollars worth of blinds/paint and it would be a really nice property. We enjoyed the amenities and view, but would not stay here again due to lack of upkeep.

Except for the downstairs shower curtain, the place was very clean. There was mildew on the inside of the plastic liner, and it is understandable how the maid could have missed it. The furniture was comfortable and the house was spacious and inviting. The view was gorgeous. The house manager was very friendly and helpful. There were a few unfinished maintenance jobs that needed attention: towel rack was off in the upstairs bathroom, hole needed patching in wall and a few wall areas needed paint.

BEAUTIFUL PLACE AND BREATHTAKING VIEWS
We absolutely loved the house, the views were the best, I was wondering what the name of the mountain was that it is on. I was disappointed that it was cloudy every night and I had brought my telescope wanting to see the stars, I had bought special lenses and a device to take pictures and was not able to. Very disappointed but NO fault with where we stayed, Mother Nature not on our side. When they say to use caution, they are correct.The mountain drive is an adventure in itself. It would be helpful if there were directions for the sauna and how to operate, and how long to stay in recommended for those that are not familiar or use often. We sat in there one night, and enjoyed the hot tub every night. We had SO much fun, we are still talking about it. The view WAS AMAZING AND BEAUTIFUL would stay there again and again and again.

Perfect Getaway
My husband and I stayed at this location in early August. The Cabin is perfect for anyone wanting to stay in the Smokies, the view from the patio is BREATH TAKING!! During our trip, we saw a Momma and her three cubs wandering around the cabin and neighboring cabins. Make sure you double check your car is locked because we had a cub open the car door and jump in the car...this was during daylight hours. You can the Cabin is undergoing minor updates as some windows on the main floor were missing blinds. Overall, we enjoyed our stay at this location!

Birthday Getaway
We celebrated my birthday here and booked it back in February. Recently there was some negative reviews and we were worried about our choice. However, we were pleased with the chalet and had the most relaxing time. It was clean and the kitchen was well stocked & the bed was comfortable. Doug, I assume the manager of the property was responsive and answered any questions we had. The views are amazing and if you are an early riser the sunrise is perfect from the balcony. We enjoyed sitting on the balcony and watching the Ober tram and hearing the riders scream out as they went over the relay poles. We also got to enjoy watching a momma bear and her 2 cubs from the balcony. The hot tub was so relaxing. The only draw back is the way it opens, it blocks the view of the mountains, but we still enjoyed it. A few issues, the downstairs is missing several blinds and the sun coming in made it hard to keep it cool. It stayed about 5 degrees above the setting but would cool down of a night. I did speak to Doug about this and he said he would send someone out the next day if we still had problems, but we just turned the ceiling fan on and it kept it cool enough. Also the upstairs shower has a water pressure issue and took about 5 minutes to warm up. The handle also spun all the way around it was hard to figure out where hot was and the off position. After a little trial and error we figured it out. We ended up using the downstairs shower after the issue. Overall, we enjoyed our stay!

In all honesty, our stay was fine, but the property was not what I expected. Although after reading other reviews, I feel like others had the same impression. Overall the cabin was clean and we had everything we need, but to say it is in dire need of repairs is an understatement. There were numerous windows without blinds, some of the baseboards in the main room were simply 1/4 boards - unfinished - I might add. We didn't even bother to attempt to use the hottub because of the large pool of water around it where numerous bugs had taken up residence and we noticed one section of the railing on the deck seemed to be coming apart. So, yes, the views were spectacular, but we didn't spend near the time out there that we had been hoping for. And the grill could be updated - we didn't bother using that either. We did get to see bears though, so bonus for that!

Unfortunately, this most recent stay had me come to the conclusion that the next time we stay in Gatlinburg we will be selecting a new place. I reached out to the owner and the property manager multiple times on the trip. The owner never answered me. The property manager did do a great job in helping us with the issue of the internet being down for half our trip. Which was 3 days. Which sucked because we couldn't watch tv or even use our tablets But after that was resolved, he wouldn't respond to any other text. First, the house is in a super nice location. View is gorgeous. However, the tub was missing the stopper to use it. The plug was missing. The bed didn't even have a fitted sheet on it. For the price that we paid, I don't understand why they couldn't even use a fitted sheet. We woke up every morning having to redo the bed because the sheet would slide down. It was just annoying. Then there was water damage in the main room with the pool table. Would have been nice to have that fixed. Then, there was zero laundry soap or dishwashing soap. NO where on the listing does it state they don't provide or that you would NEED any of those items. We stayed for about a week and had to go spend $50 on those items as we planned on washing our clothes while there. But most importantly, we forgot an item at the house and have requested multiple times for it to be sent back. Even stated I would pay to send it back. Been almost 3 weeks, no word. And even contacted owner, still nothin

Stay away from this property owner
If you like staying in a poorly maintained house with an amazing view, this is your place. Read All the reviews carefully. You will learn what has been complained about and what has never been fixed. The 2nd floor shower faucet is broken. There is not a positive stop on it to turn it off. The faucet just spins and you hope its off when the water stops and just drips. The owner is stating we left the shower running and flooded the 2nd floor. This is incorrect. It was barely dripping when we left. They've charged our card with a damage charge. Which we are vehemently disputing. As you read previous reviews, you'll see that this issue was brought up previously to the owners and has never been addressed. Particularly the review of June 2022. It states this exact issue and it obviously has never been addressed. This owner & property is like Bob Nutting and the Pittsburgh Pirates. Spends just enough to make it viable but nothing else. The house looks terrible inside with missing window blinds, broken towel rods, holes in the walls and ceilings. I have never ever left a bad review for any VRBO property. Until being falsely charged by this owner. The view here is awesome, we overlooked the problems as minor. We are responsible people who treat our rentals as our own. We would never be so lazy as to leave a faucet running. Please pray for this owner to make good on his promises to fix all the issues that plague this house.

Beautiful, though unplugged stay
The views and location were absolutely beautiful. However, we could never get on the wifi, nor could we figure the TV so we just stayed mostly unplugged for our weekend, which isnt necessarily bad, but unexpected. The one major problem was the inconsistency of the front door lock, sometimes a simple press of a button without using the code would unlock the door. It was definitely making us nervous.
