"Sadly there were two very big problems with Whale Rock. 1. It was about 200yds from a huge and filthy township. The approach was through this which was very frightening. We felt it dangerous to go out unless by car. 2. It is advertised as per person, so be careful when booking. We didn’t realise and were surprised when we were charged almost £200 a night, which is definitely way over the top for this place, which is not spectacular and so close to a township. "

"Incredible stay, just a short coastal walk to Hermanus waterfront. Owners were amazing hosts, super helpful and fun! Nikki gave some excellent recommendations while Stefan served up amazing breakfasts. A brilliant tag team! Room was also lovely. Thank you for a memorable short visit!"

"Baleia was easy to find as it was metres off the main road into Hermanus. Very secure parking and easy to access/exit on foot or by car. Characterful rooms - many set around a small courtyard with small pool. Host and staff were kind and helpful. Breakfast was very good. Value for money. "

"This guesthouse is undoubtedly one of the best beach B&Bs I’ve ever visited. The decor is charming, creating a cozy and welcoming atmosphere. Its location is spectacular, offering breathtaking views of the ocean. The hosts were incredibly sweet, making the stay even more enjoyable. The food was outstanding, and the view from the Oyster room was simply unbelievable. A perfect beachside retreat that I highly recommend!"

"Our room was beautiful with a spectacular view. The staff could not be more helpful. The shuttle bus was a bonus that we didn’t expect. The food was delicious. The only minor downside was the colour (grey) and size of the pool - although it was always spotlessly clean it appeared a bit murky. However, it wasn’t - it was just that it was painted grey. "

"Pleasant stay but many nicer places in Hermanus. 10 minute walk to town. Owner was rather intense in communications. Parking not easy to get in or out of tho we were lucky and got the one more accessible space. Although spa and free bike rentals mentioned in Hotels.com information there was no sight or mention of either.on site . "

"A lovely, clean and tidy room with its own private terrace. The owners were very friendly with great tips on where to visit etc. A great location for a coastal walk. We walked into town which was full of bars and restaurants. Breakfast was served outside and was plentiful and delicious. All in all a really lovely stay. "

"This is a friendly B&B that are so popular is SA. All rooms have great views of the sea and would offer excellent viewing during the season when whales are in the bay. It is also a nice walk into the town centre where there are plenty of restaurants. The room has traditional decoration which is well maintained and clean. "We were 3 weeks ol the Garden Route and this was definitely the best stay. Really lovely and caring hosts, great rooms with amazing sea views, a suberb breakfast and also their dinner tip was really great (and you can even walk there safely at night!) Will definitely come back during whale season (when they whales are supposed to be directly in front of your room!)"
