It does the job
Overall - it's clean, it's safe, it's warm, and there are lockers - it does the job for "I need to sleep somewhere warm and clean", which is all I needed it to do. It's really hard to find the guesthouse - the address on hotels.com is only written in English, but most of the cab drivers don't speak English. It's a good idea to get the address in Korean. The place is pretty hands-off. I arrived at 11:00 pm, and couldn't figure out how to get in, so I went down to the very lively party in the basement, explained that I didn't want to get in to the party, but I wanted to check in and then someone took me upstairs, showed me how to access the women's area and gave me a packaged toothbrush. The place is clean, the shower is warm. The rooms and blankets are warm (Gangneung is very cold in February). There is a party going on in the basement until late at night (the fliers said the party went until 4:00 am). There's not much available in the area for breakfast in the morning (and I didn't see anyone to check out). It's hard to find a taxi in the area to get back to the train station (fortunately I shared a taxi that someone else found).
