The owner was easy to communicate with and nice so it’s hard to leave any negative feedback but….
Pros:
Location is everything! The house is located on an amazing stretch of beach about 10 minutes from 61st Street.
4 really big or good sized bedrooms
Enclosed bottom floor was great for storage where you could lock things up. It doesn’t have AC so it’s to hot to use for anything else.
The beds are comfy.
Three bedrooms have en-suites (see below under Cons).
The house has a lot of chairs for the beach in case you forget yours.
The grill is a good size.
Cons:
It’s Love Bug season, there were dead bugs throughout the house when we arrived. I spent a good amount of time cleaning. I’m not sure the house was cleaned prior to our arrival. It has the expected beach house wear and tear but really needs a deep cleaning and updating. We found trash from past renters in the bathroom drawers.
This is NOT a 5-bedroom house. It’s 4-bedrooms with bunk beds in the LAUNDRY ROOM. The drier is NOT vented properly. When the drier is used, it’s 90+ degrees in the room. No one could sleep in there.
The house ‘sleeps’ 19 or so but is NOT built for this many people. There’s only dining seating for 6-8, living room seating for 5. We were extremely cramped during meals.
The house only allows for 4 cars, but it’s a small circle drive that doesn’t really fit 4 trucks/SUVs in the driveway.
Roaches. We killed a lot of roaches both inside and outside.
There’s a decorative column preventing the refrigerator door from fully opening. We all smashed our fingers opening the door. There is barely room to fit a gallon of orange juice through the door’s opening.
En-suite bathrooms are open concept offering no privacy from the bedrooms when showering.
The only exit to the deck is a sliding glass door. The track is damaged and rusted in places, it’s very difficult to open and makes so much noise, if anyone is sleeping, you will wake them.
The main bathroom for the house faces the road with a large picture window but no blinds. No one would shower in this bathroom because of the lack of blinds.
The under house portion has a floor drop off that is only striped on one side/you only see the warning stripes from one direction. We all tripped.
