Our family home is built on the foundations of an old convent whose foundations date from the 16th century.
Our family has owned it since at least the establishment
of the cadastre in 1807.
Located on the church square in the village of Gallargues-le-Montueux, this house is an ideal holiday location for the summer period.
At the entrance of the small Camargue, you will be positioned right on the border between Hérault and Gard, 15 minutes by car from Nîmes and 25 minutes from Montpellier.
The A9 motorway goes directly to the village with a Gallargues-le-Montueux exit, accessible in 5 minutes by car.
Located on the pilgrimage routes of Santiago de Compostela, you will have direct access to many hiking trails all around the village.
As far as the ride is concerned, you will have access to the heart of the Camargue in barely twenty minutes and to the Cévennes by Anduze and Alès in around thirty minutes.
To get to the coast, it will take you 20 minutes to reach La Grande-Motte, 25 for Grau du Roi and Aigues-Mortes and 30 minutes to arrive on the magnificent Espiguette beach.
You can also get around very easily by bike to stroll around, for example towards the charming village of Sommieres located just 8km away, or by taking the greenways towards Vergèze, Aigues-Mortes or Saintes-Marie de la Mer on the Camargue road.
The strategic position of Gallargues will also allow you to have very easy access to the major cultural events of the summer: the Avignon festival in July in less than 40 minutes by road, the Rencontres Internationales de la Photographie d'Arles de mid-June to mid-September in 30 minutes.
In the village, you can also discover local traditions thanks to the arenas located 500m from the house, by attending bullfighting games every Friday in summer.
The heritage of Gallargues is among the most famous of the neighboring villages. You can visit different exceptional sites such as the Royal Tower, the old village watchtower which served as a transmission station for the Chappe telegraph in the 19th century, the Medieval House, a former 14th century hospital and the Pont Saint-Ambroix dit Pont-Romain, built in the 1st century on the road to Via Domitia, made famous by a painting by Gustave Courbet and which will lead you to the magnificent Gallo-Roman site of Ambrussum.
In this house with a living area of 220m2, you can count on the old walls accumulating several hundred years to cool off even during a heat wave in the heart of summer.
The location is ideal for all the curious who would like to embark on a discovery of the Camargue and the Languedoc hinterland.
The house is composed as follows: 4 bedrooms, 2 kitchens, 3 bathrooms, 1 dining room, 1 living room, 1 laundry room and 1 last room called "games room".
The 4 bedrooms are distributed such as:
- 1 bedroom with 140 bed and 1 bedroom with 110 bed in a wing of the house on the first floor, with shared bathroom.
- 1 bedroom with 2 single beds, adjoining games room (1 additional sleeping possible) and a bathroom (walk-in shower) on the first floor of another wing of the house.
- 1 bedroom with double bed and adjoining bathroom (walk-in shower) in an outbuilding.
You can enjoy a magnificent interior courtyard, shaded under a hundred-year-old fig tree, pleasant even in periods of high heat as it is well protected from the sun.
Inside: 1 TV in the living room with TNT, DVD player, WIFI access, board games, pinball in the games room, library provided, pétanque balls.
No private swimming pool but access to the municipal swimming pool located 10 mins on foot and to the banks of the Virdoule in 15 mins by bike or car.

We have spent most of our summers in this house for 30 years and are therefore looking for occasional tenants who are respectful of this old building, full of memories.
No swimming pool, spa or large garden but the charm of an old, family home located in the heart of a beautiful village!
