The modern design house consists of two bedrooms with large areas much and solarentos. The double bedroom has a balcony facing south, the bay of Funchal, with chairs and hammock for relaxing. Besides the magnificent view you can enjoy the sun all day and watch the fireworks on festive seasons.
The second bedroom has two double beds. This floor has full bathroom.
Downstairs is the dining room and living room, a service bathroom, a fully equipped kitchen and access to a very cozy patio with garden chairs.
The change of bed linen and towels and housekeeping is weekly. You can request extra service of daily monitoring cleaning, with additional payment.
We can also arrange airport taxi transfers with reliable driver, babysitter service, sea surf activities, paddle, sup, windsurfing, boat down the coast for dolphin watching and other marine animals, recommended and paid for locally.
Convent of Santa Clara, Museum of crosses, English Church, Church of St. John the Evangelist from Funchal College, Cathedral of Funchal among many buildings, museums and moments that you can easily visit on foot without the need for transport. As well as the shops and restaurants and bars in town.

Great value for family
Hugo was a delightful host and the accommodation was very spacious and well equipped. A steep but short walk from the old town that was plentiful in good value bars and restaurants. For a family on a budget this was great!

Great location - away from the busy tourist section but close enough for a pleasant walk(just be prepared to walk uphill coming home). Good exercise! The apartment had alot of old world charm and the all the amenities for cooking and washing clothes

2 wonderful patios in this unit. Great kitchen facilities for cooking - even sharp knives. Very quiet at night. Lots of coffee and restaurants within 5 min walk. Hugo is very helpful and friendly. Would stay here again

Fantastic house
Sizeable property with lovely courtyard and balcony. Totally private whilst in amongst the locals. Lots of cafes and bars within walking distance. Steep walk back up from town but the no. 15 bus stop is just up the hill and you can walk downhill from that. Fabulous south facing view. The house has everything you could want and more. Thank you Hugo for everything.

Quirky townhouse with great views.
A very clean, well equipped, slightly old fashioned and quirky town house, with great views down to the harbour, and the Saturday night fireworks, from the upstairs terrace. The owner, Hugo, is a wonderfully friendly and helpful host and made sure we had all we needed. He organised our airport taxis pick-up. Would stay again.

Highly recommended value for money
The house lived up to expectations and the landlord, Hugo, was way above expections. He gave a very good introduction to the house and he was extremely helpful during our stay. Hugo even had bought beers for his guests to consume free of charge. View from upper terrasse is really good. Close to city center and harbour via a bit steep roads. Could be an improvement with a larger table at the upper terrasse. Only minus were a few bugs in the bathrooms.

Amazing view, worth the climb
The apartment was clean and well-equipped. The view from the main bedroom is beautiful in the evening, and to wake up to in the morning. Definitely worth the steep climb out of town. Local coffee shops and small mini-market close by. Hugo is an excellent host, welcoming and accommodating.

First Visit To Funchal
Lovely House , Spotlessly Clean , All Home Comforts Hugo is a fantastic host , Very friendly and replies to messages very quickly . He greeted us on our arrival showed us around and how everything works . Property is situated in the heart of the village , lots of little local shops dotted around but on a very steep hill . You can walk everywhere which is great lots to see and do . We ate out every day and would try somewhere each time We caught a taxi back most evenings which isn’t expensive €5-€6 . And only takes about 7 mins max if that , We will definitely return to Funchal . Many thanks Hugo

Really well equipped and in a great position to get easily into Funchal centre
We had a great week in this lovely apartment, well positioned for watching the cruise liners come and go (even better if you bring your binoculars) and for getting into Funchal centre. Hugo was very hospitable and they've clearly thought of everything when decorating and equipping the apartment. I'm sure we'll be back another time. We did a motorbike and sidecar tour while there - it was fab and we'd recommend it to anyone.

Wonderful holiday.
Hugo welcomed us very friendly and surprised us with beer and fresh fruit. He is very helpful and also showed us a garage parking very close by. He even accompanied my husband to the rental car company. The house was very nice, spacious and clean. The view of the sea from the balcony was great. All in all it was a great holiday in Madeira and we would love to come back and book the house. Kind regards Christina

First of all, thank you Hugo for your hospitality, we felt welcomed like at home. The apartment is amazing, having everything you mau need for a short or a long stay in Madeira. You feel yourself in a real artist environment. Cozy rooms, terrase with a stunning view to old-town and harbour. Hugo even has an gramophone of his grand grand father and let us use it enjoying Madeira wine. Only positive experience, warm welcome and amazing holidays in our memories. Amazing views and superb property manager
It was a great pleasure to view the city and harbour from our bedroom and balcony, perfect place for a glass of wine. Groceries are available from a nearby store. It's about a 15 minute walk into the City which seems to have thousands of good restaurants. Walking back up was a challenge but great exercise for us seniors. Taxis are plentiful and cost about 4 Euros. The real gem in this property is Hugo, the property manager, he was there to great us and show us around and always responded immediately when we had questions.

Wonderful stay!
This apartment is fantastic! Greatly surpassed any expectations we had. Way more space and luxury than we anticipated. 2 beautiful patios, one enclosed, one with a beautiful and expansive view, with hammock and exercise bike as well! Very clean, modern and comfortable. Hugo and Marta were extremely friendly and welcoming, showed us around, and answered any questions that we had. It is walking distance to most of Funchal, although a bit up the hill, one is greatly rewarded after a walk back by the view over the harbour, watching the sunset, with a drink on the patio. Highly, highly recommended!

Great New Year”s Break
One of our bucket list items was to see the NYE fireworks in Madeira. We booked this 12 months ago and as ever Madeira did not disappoint. As for the house it was well kitted with all you would need and more, clean and tidy with a great view of the marina from the balcony. Our host Hugo was excellent both in comms before we arrived and met us personally at the property to give a guided tour. Nothing was too much trouble and whilst unobtrusive it was reassuring to know if we needed anything or advice he was available. Whilst 15 minutes walk from the promenade in Funchal you should also explore the local area, the cafe at the fort is well worth a visit. Be prepared for the hill climb, we did it most days but in the evening got a taxi or Bolt back up the hill, cost between 4 and 7 euros depending on taxi service and time of day.

Great House!
Hugo is a master at hospitality. Very nice man who had fresh fruit and cold beer upon our arrival. He showed us around the property and even gave us a ride into town on our first day as he was leaving at the same time to go get a haircut! The house was clean and ready for guests. We did not use the kitchen much, but comes fully stocked if you choose to prepare your own meals. The views are fantastic. Would highly recommend this property if you are considering. Would also recommend Hugo’s recommended taxi driver if you wish to take a tour or 2 of the island. We took an easy side tour with Jose and a west side tour with Jose’s nephew, Nuno. Both were great and knowledgeable and provided good information about the island. 10 out of 10!

Great location, great apartment, great host!
We stayed in Hugo's apartment in Santa Luzia, Funchal for 4 nights. Firstly the apartment is much bigger than it looks in the pictures, being Hugo's old family home, it is homey and welcoming and has everything you could possibly need for a stay including Hugo's unique artwork and a mini fridge dedicated to complimentary mini beers. Hugo is an actual star, going out of his way to be helpful but not intrusive. He works downstairs so is often on hand for guidance or questions. The bedrooms are spacious and beds comfortable and the views from the double room are excellent. The kitchen has a great set of gadgets and Hugo even provides coffee capsules and teabags. The location of the property is fabulous, you can choose which side down you go into town, arriving on the west or east side of Funchal within 10-15 mins. The walk back up makes you puff a bit but is fairly short so very doable. We would not hesitate the stay at Hig's lovely apartment again in a flash!

Madeira Made Easy
This little story will tell you all you need to know about Hugo the superb host. Our flight was three days late in arriving because of high winds. To compensate, Hugo arranged for us - at his expense - a long taxi excursion of Funchal, pointing out all the must-see sights. Throughout our stay he was ever attentive and helpful. One day he turned up with delicious bread and as we were leaving he presented us with terrific farewell gifts. In the meantime he told us to make free with his well-stocked drinks cabinet. The apartment is splendid and the view from the large balcony is something special. There is also a beautiful enclosed patio with lots of flowers and shrubs. Hugo really spoils his guests and he most certainly enriched our holiday. Just by the way, do visit the Londres restaurant. Glorious food and the house red is rather special.

Spacious home with great view of harbor
We stayed in this property for two weeks with our teenage son. The house is very spacious and well equipped. Hugo is a wonderful host. Beds are comfortable, plenty of towels and supplies in the bathrooms and kitchen. There’s a Nespresso machine with a nice selection of pods. A lovely breeze flows through the house when the windows and doors are open. We loved hanging out in the mornings and evenings on the balcony of the master bedroom. Gorgeous views over downtown Funchal and the harbor. Our stay included a mid-visit cleaning and she did a wonderful job. We walked into downtown Funchal every day and some days even managed to walk back up, and each time it got a little easier. Other times, such as with groceries, we hired a taxi — from the downtown Pingo Doce it costs €5. The property address isn’t really on google maps, so we always gave our taxi drivers the address for Hugo’s shop, which occupies the basement of the house (the shop is separate and has no access to the home) but the shop door is on the road with car access. The entrance to the house is on the west side of the building, on a pedestrian only alley. There’s a tiny cafe a few steps away, and a small grocery store down the hill a little ways but still very close. The Monte Carlo hotel is nearby and seemed to be the landmark most taxi drivers used. We would definitely recommend Hugo’s home to anyone traveling as a family. It’s lovely!
