About this property

Entire place

You'll have the entire apartment to yourself and will only share it with other guests in your party.

Doug's funky ski/summer apmt w Poker, Bouldering etc

NEW: Stubai Super Card = Included FREE. Value: €200+ per person per week! Free lift passes (& much more) for everybody for your WHOLE STAY in Summer.

Our unique 1st floor apartment is designed for fun-loving families / friends! Hidden bookcase door leads to speak-easy style games room, with bar, darts, lush poker table, chandelier & pro foosball table. You get a cinema with full Rock Band setup (& Netflix etc)!

The biggest bedroom has a door hidden by new, beautifully clad, aged pine wood. It offers an ensuite bathroom with shower.

Hidden away at the back of the apartment are two other cute bedrooms. Both with flexible sleeping options. These share a fancy new bathroom with underfloor heating and electric towel dryer.

There is a third bathroom behind the Mystery Room.

The kitchen, with solid Italian granite surfaces, is well stocked for cooking up big meals, or use some of our utilities like the fondue sets...

The living room has a huge sofa, and comfy things all round. Laze around chatting and sipping on a glass of wine, enjoying the atmosphere. Draw the cinema curtains to close yourselves off and get lost in a good film on the massive TV screen. We have subscriptions to Netflix, Prime Video, and Spotify, so there's a lot to choose from!

Behind the curtains is our long dining table, with great views through the long windows. Perfect for catching the rays in the day, or for playing one of our vast range of board games at night.

Each room has a separate radiator valve that you can turn up and down to suit your heating needs.

For the gamers amongst you, in the lobby there's a 2-player retro arcade machine (great for Mario Kart, Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo, or Tetris battles the good old fashioned way, standing next to each other! The 1000+ game selection should keep you busy.) There is also a coffee maker, a secret whisky globe and a chess board set between the plush armchairs in the lobby. Play some old LPs on the record player, and lose yourself in the timeless classics!

There's also an X-Box360 plugged into the projector. In other rooms, Nintendo 64 and SNES should keep you busy too!

If you go outside, you also get access to our shared areas (with the Ground Floor Apartment and the top floor Penthouse - if they happen to have also been booked):

Walk down through the cellar (and rock climbing wall / table tennis room) to get out to the cute little communal garden. There's a large sun lounger, outdoor furniture and a large gas BBQ. Go up the wooden stairs for the Zen room, chillout SNES wave, multiple showers and ice cold bucket shower. Again, the room has beautiful Harman Kardon speakers, and a lovely stone jungle theme. Through the large panorama windows which look directly over the forest behind the house, there's a terrace which catches the morning sun, and is a great spot for that morning coffee!

You will get the entire first floor flat (as described in 'The Space') exclusively for yourselves. You have your own entrance and keys etc. It is a purpose built rental-flat.

The flat is 125m2 in size (160m2 if you include the shared Zen room)

I live in the top floor apartment, so can pop by if required. You'll have my phone number and can call / whatsapp me at any time for questions.

The location is hard to beat. It's nestled within one of Austria's most spectacular valleys, Stubaital, and surrounded by some of the country's highest peaks. It's a 10 minute drive from Innsbruck (dubbed 'the heart of the Alps'), and is abundant with adventure activities of all kinds from Olympic bobsleigh to paragliding right over the village.

The 100km+ of pistes in the valley's four main resorts are impeccably maintained. Schlick 2000 is accessible via a 15 minute walk from the chalet (or free bus), and the Stubai Glacier (snow guarantee 10 months of the year), Elfer, and Serlesbahnen are all accessible by a free shuttle bus that stops right next to the chalet.

100% snow guarantee! You can ski and snowboard at the Stubai Glacier every month of the year except July & August.

The summer activities are equally bountiful – hiking, biking, lakes, mountain carting, and rock climbing to name but a few. I've compiled a guidebook of all my favourite activities – it'll keep you busy for four weeks straight (doing 2 per day!) whatever the weather.

ACTIVITIES

Walking Distance:
Ski Resort (Schlick 2000); Paragliding; Summer Toboggan; Indoor Climbing Wall; Outdoor Rock Climbing; 8km Extreme Sledging (Rodeln) Daytime & Floodlit; Apres Ski; Ice Skating; Ice Hockey; Snowshoe Walking; Cross Country Skiing; Curling; Shooting; Mountain Biking; Hiking; Mountain lakes, Leisure Park, Adventure Highwire Park, Horse Riding; Rafting, Beach Volleyball, Mountain Boarding, BBQ, Scenic Tram Ride, Tennis, Sports Hall, Indoor & Outdoor Waterworld with Spa & Sauna etc etc etc

Cycling Distance:
Stubai Glacier; 5x Klettersteigs; Olympic Bobsleigh & Skeleton; Innsbruck (and ALL of Innsbruck’s activities, culture, sport, games, beauty...); Ritterkuchl (Medieval Feast Experience); Bungee Jumping (192m); Mountain Karting; Paintballing, more Mountain Lakes & Beach Volleyball.

Driving (under 1 hour):
Canyoning; White Water Rafting; Golf Courses; Area 47 Extreme Waterpark; The Dolomites (Italy is 15 mins away); Garmisch Partenkirchen (Germany is 30 minutes away); Aquadome Sauna & Spa; Neuschwannstein Castle (1.5 hrs); Indoor Surfing; Frozen Waterfall Climbing; Alpine zoo… etc etc

In winter there's a free shuttle to take you to the resorts in the valley. In summer there's also a bus to take you around (but you have to pay a little).

You could rent bicycles (or e-bikes) to cruise along following the valley's meandering river to the stunning mountain lake (Kampler See) to sunbathe, or play beach volleyball / frisbee / football / cards / boules. There aren't many more beautiful places than that in the world (believe me - I've spent 6 years on the road in 75 different countries)..

Innsbruck is 10 mins drive away in a car, 30 mins by bus, or a stunning 1 hour tram ride winding through beautiful mountain villages.

We do have limited parking - but please contact us if you plan on bringing cars!

Tourist Tax needs to be paid upon arrival. That's €2.80 per person per night (ie €20 each for a week stay). This is a compulsory tax for all guests, and goes towards our valley's fabulous infrastructure.

Please fill in all members' names, passport numbers, birth year, nationalities - and the address of one person.

Funky
Background: Our group consisted of my wife and me (in our 50's) and our two young-adult children and their significant others (all in their 20's). This was the last stop of a whirlwind 2 week tour that included Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Berlin and Munich. We stayed 2 nights at DMG (Doug's Mountain Getaway). The good: The "kids" loved the place. They couldn't believe how many great "toys" DMG included. We had a fun time during our stay spending quality time together. There are tons of board games including my daughter's favorite, Code Names, which we spent an evening playing. One of Doug's recommended places to visit is Lake Kampl which is in a nice little park right off the main road about a 5 minute drive away. We had a great afternoon there swimming and playing cards under a shade tree. We also drove into Innsbruck and had lunch and did some shopping. The bad: Many of the "toys" were broken including the video game machine and the X box. The shower in one of the bathrooms was broken. The coffee machine was broken. I couldn't find a corkscrew. We were there in the summer and the bedrooms have no AC and were a little room. Two of the bedrooms are pretty small. We did run into Gina who is one of the helpers and she switched out the coffee machine with one from one of the other units. She wasn't able to fix the shower during our stay. The laundry room is full of sheets and towels being cleaned for the next guests and is not really available for your use.

Perfect location for the Winter
Our family stayed for New Years Eve and had a wonderful time. Innsbruck is beautiful and the public transportation was great. The accommodation was perfect! We felt right at home. It was very cozy and a lot of fun! Would love to stay again in the summer.

A different kind of holiday flat
We have had a great stay for three nights. We had enough space for seven people and a lot of fun possibilities (Darts, Guitar Hero, Record player, and so on. There was only one little problem. Some of the plates and flatwares were not really clean. I am sure the team is doing his best. I see the problem by guests, when they lay the dirty plates back in the kitchen cupoard.
