Wine Cup Cabin | Romantic Hill Country Getaway

When visiting Fredericksburg our hope is that you come to relax and enjoy your quiet time here! If that is your goal as well, we have the perfect place for you- Wine Cup Cabin found just a few miles south of Fredericksburg.

The logs found throughout this wonderful cabin are from Mayfield, Kentucky and date back to the late 1800s. Your hosts are sixth generation Texans with rich and local history. They enjoy sharing their beautiful hill country views and wildlife with their guests. Inside this cozy cabin, more history awaits. The tin and barn wood your hosts bought from Art, Texas just outside of Mason is over 100 years old. When they bought the little kitchen cabinet, they were told that it once belonged to Jim Hogg and the pie safe is an old Texas piece bought in Fredericksburg. Notice the loft-the chickens are very happily sitting on antique chicken cages. Every time you enter you will discover another new and interesting piece of history.

The living room has a very comfy leather sofa placed to enjoy the wood fireplace, Dish television, and DVD. There is a coffeebar plus a small refrigerator and microwave. In the bedroom, find a king bed topped with a country quilt and pillows. There is a large corner whirlpool tub in the bedroom. The old dresser is where you will find the bathroom sink.

Enjoying the front porch will be a special treat with its comfy chairs and beautiful plants—and then there is the awesome countryside to enjoy with deer, ducks and birds plus anything else that might wander by. There is even a pair of binoculars on the porch for you to get that close up look.

The home is dog-friendly and will accept up to two dogs. However, there is a pet fee of $27/dog/night. Due to the fact that HomeAway/VRBO does not allow us to charge for more than one dog at the time of booking, please let us know if you will be bringing more than one dog, so that we can make sure that you are charged the correct amount. If you bring more than one dog and do not let us know, you will be charged accordingly. Furthermore, please bring crates for your dogs and crate them in your absence from the house, do not allow the dogs on furniture or beds, and pick up and properly dispose of their waste. If these rules are not followed, there will be an additional $200 charge added to your reservation.

Things to be aware of:
*The bathroom has an accordion style door.
*The cabin does not have internet or wifi, so please plan accordingly.

Please Note: You are renting a cabin in the Hill Country which means you may encounter wildlife (Snakes, Deer, Racoons, ETC). Please be aware of your surroundings, and take caution while driving at night. You may also encounter the various bugs, spiders, scorpions and mice that live in the country AND sometimes do make their way inside. All properties do utilize pest control services on a regular basis BUT this does not guarantee no pests or bugs will be visible.

Cute cabin and great location
The cabin was adorable and had a great location. We really enjoyed sitting outside on the porch and enjoying the seclusion and nature. However, there is no kitchen like advertised, and we had hoped to cook a few meals. There was just a microwave and refrigerator. We opened the microwave to find a very old loaf of banana bread shoved inside!! Gross! Also the bathroom is not quite a bathroom. There is a toilet in a closet with a door that wont close if you are in there. It was functional and the cabin is still worth all these nuances. But this all should be noted. All in all, we enjoyed our stay and would do it again.

Historic structure with modern accent additions on a gorgeous plot of land. Dark skies perfect for stargazing and an East facing traditional settlers porch for sunrises. Easy access on a private property road with ideal privacy. A hill country gem!

Very Relaxing and Secluded Place To Stay
My friend and I were in SERIOUS need of a getaway and we both love the country. This cabin was perfect because it was far enough to have some peace and quiet, yet close enough to town if we needed anything. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and mingling with our new furry friends (the deer). We had an issue with the AC while there and within a couple of hours, the problem was solved and the cold air returned. It was good that the weather was just right for sitting out on the porch and grilling so the AC going out didn't bother us much before it was fixed. The check-in/check-out process was easy and convenient. We will definitely be returning for another stay soon!

Fun, Cozy Stay
My husband booked this little surprise getaway. It was cute! Not much toilet privacy. Super comfy couch! Close enough to town to not worry about not having a kitchen. Small fridge and microwave for leftovers. Great bed and bedding! Lots of deer on property that will eat the deer corn thrown from the porch.

Disappointed- only want your money
The property was cute, but dealing with the property managers was upsetting. I initially paid $162 for a pet fee for my two dogs. Ended up not bringing them and they would not refund the pet fee. VRBO did not agree either. They said it was within 14 days of my stay and the owner is expecting that money. They would not give it back. That is not the right thing to do. I understand if it was cancelling a night there, but paying to have pets with me and then not having them is another. They took my $162 and said too bad. I was driving almost 4 hours to get there and asked to be able to check in before 3. It was an absolute no. They don’t cRe about you, they care about your money. Bad business. I don’t recommend any of their properties because of the people That they are.

The cabin itself was cute, and appeared to have been a lovely idea a looooong time ago. It also appears that perhaps the original owners have passed the care of it along to someone else who is doing the bare minimum for it. It's sad, actually. It felt REALLY dirty; dust everywhere --the dust bunnies under the bed --YIKES!! Again - felt like it hadn't been cleaned in MONTHS! They only promised tea and coffee, yet there was literally no coffee on hand. They also advertised corn to feed the deer. There was no corn in the can labeled as such outside. The "lawn" hadn't been mowed for a looong time (probably a foot high) The picnic table outside looked like it would collapse if an adult sat on it. There was an old ceramic sink up on concrete blocks. An old wheelbarrow with strange tools in it. In short, it resembled a junk yard. Even the front porch was so overgrown with weeds and dead bushes it was almost obscured from view. Sadly, I could see flowers in what used to be a front yard, but they were long ago overun with weeds. The advertised cable TV had one channel available - Newsmix?? Did I mention the throw on the couch that had sexual excrement on it? Of course, others mentioned that there was no door on the bathroom. The country views and the wildlife are delightful, but the cabin itself is a real disappointment.
