This is a difficult review to write. The property is so incredible in many ways, but a couple of things really missed the mark and had our stay fall a little flat.
Throughout the home, there were many lightbulbs out. The place was quite dark in the daytime, despite having a full wall of windows and bright sun. The ceiling and kitchen lights being out were the biggest inconvenience of the lot.
Internet access was not working for us. I called the support line, they reset the modem, I reset the modem (I work in technology for a living), and nothing worked. There was some other issue I didn't, nor wanted to, try to solve. Instead, I went to my car with internet to do work in the evening. To say this was a downer is an understatement. Stable internet in this day and time is really no longer a luxury. The internet issue was not for any personal, gaming devices. We needed it for work in the evenings and did not have it. This is a huge zero.
There were more than a few stinkbugs, wasps, and fleas (in the bed and on the couch) in the house. The furniture, while "unique", also looks much better in photo than in real life. The beds were ok, but don't expect the same type or quality of mattress you probably have at home.
If the unit were priced around $125 nightly I wouldn't give these things a second thought. However, spending close to $1,000 for two nights between booking fees, cleaning fees, room rates, etc, this was not worth the money.
As the title of the review says, this is so close to being fantastic. If the internet had worked, the light bulbs worked, and we wouldn't have woken the first morning to having red bites on our legs, the review would have been much better (we ended up stripping the sheets on both beds, and used the linens we brought with us). Toss in some new furniture using the $1,000 we just shelled out for this place and now you have a winner all around for the next booking.
Not related to the cabin, the booking fees almost doubled the nightly rate. As nice as this could be, it would never be worth $500 nightly (as it works out when fees are added in). VRBO should do a better job on minimizing the fees on their end rather than passing all of this along to us.
