The kitchen has all that is needed and sitting room and dining room was particularly handy on the one really wet day that we had. The big selling point for this property, is the outside space, and particularly the pool area! "The house is NOT appropriate for winter rental letting. The main room's only heating system is the old fashionned fire place. The house is not insulated at all. There are gaps around the doors which we tried to block with our sleeping bags; there was no functionning heaters in any of the bedrooms. "This is the quietest holiday on record for us and we always look for quiet locations. The house is a charm and François and Claudine made for the most hospitable hosts. The Vendée has so much to offer and we loved the safe cycling on flat roads using the bikes that came with the property. It’s about an hour to La Rochelle and in east reach of many delightful villages. Highly recommended"

"Our 2nd time staying at L’Abbaye and the stay was just as lovely as the 1st, 2 yrs ago. The owners Pascale and Thierry are lovely people. We love this place, so quite and relaxing time. The area is very rural but we like this and it’s so peaceful. Pool and area is fab."
