Oakleaf Hideaway is a recently renovated cottage nestled in the trees on 20 private acres atop of Lookout Mountain. Featuring private walking trails, waterfalls and 2,000 feet of frontage on Straight Creek, the cottage is your perfect getaway to unwind and recharge. Located just 1.5 miles from the Visitor's Center at Desoto State Park, the cottage is close to everything including Mentone, Little River Canyon, and Ft. Payne.

Master Suite:
Enjoy the serenity of the woods and golden sunsets from the comfort of the luxurious King bed featuring 600 thread-count linens. French doors lead to the large back deck with a fire-pit.

The master also features a sitting area with an antique settee from France, a master closet, chest, and a master bath with a full-sized washer and dryer.

Guest Bedroom:
The guest bedroom has two twin beds that can be pushed together for couples. This bright and airy room has beautiful views of the forest and features luxurious linens, drapery and a mural framed with aged local barn wood.

Kitchen:
The well-appointed chef's kitchen features warm butcher block countertops, a large rustic island, new black-stainless appliances with gas stove, and several details built from wood from a nearby 1800's barn. Rough-sawn open shelving from a nearby family farm sets off the beautiful and artistic decor.

Living Room / Dining Room:
The open concept living room exudes coziness and warmth. Hand-scraped oak hardwood floors, wood accent walls, and the limewashed fireplace and wood-burning stove will make even the coldest days delightful. A 40-inch 4k smart television has Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime, and Apple TV apps. Just bring your favorite TV provider login and enjoy a movie night. While we think the best days are the days spent outside, we do have fast WiFi and LTE/4G coverage. The living room also features a pull-out sofa bed with a comfortable new memory foam mattress.

The dining room has seating for six (we've squeezed 9 around the table), and we provide china and service for six as well.

The front door is equipped with a digital lock, and we'll provide you a code prior to your arrival.

This is a beautiful woodsy cottage close to the town. It has a wonderful layout, and is decorated beautifully. Everything was neat and clean. The side porch was perfect. The back deck could use a little work, but it wasn’t too bad.

This is my first time to rate a Vrbo property after many stays. This cute farmhouse was like a home away from home. Everything was so well stocked especially in the kitchen. It’s the perfect place to unwind and get a away. Everything was so clean and well kept. We will definitely be back ❤️

As others have said, the pictures don't do this property justice. It is very well decorated and impeccably clean. We made a point to enjoy all the special spots: the fire table on the back deck, the day bed on the screened porch, the wood burning fireplace inside, the swing on the front porch, and the creek out back. Location was great: we hiked DeSoto and Little River Canyon during our stay, and enjoyed some beautiful drives in the area

Perfect Getaway
Oakleaf Hideaway was the perfect place for a getaway. My 2 sisters and I thoroughly enjoyed a much-needed getaway after the passing of our 91-year-old father, plus one sister having been diagnosed this year with 4th stage cancer. The cabin was just lovely and had everything we needed, plus some. It’s in the backyard of DeSoto State Park and very convenient to everything nearby. We were not ready to leave this lovely place and will definitely be a repeat customer. Thanks for letting us enjoy your lovely hideaway.

What a Dream!
Looking for a peaceful stay? This is it! We had a relaxing weekend with our pup and can’t wait to book again. The weather was perfect and reading on the sleeper porch all day was heavenly. Mentone is close by, and the amazing waterfalls and parks made the weekend perfect. We also had great communication with the hosts, who were super friendly and communicative. 10/10!

This was among the best vacation homes we have ever stayed in. The home is exceptionally well-stacked with everything we needed. The owners seem to have thought of everything. Wonderful stay in the souther Appalachians
This house was strongly recommended to us by neighbors. My wife and I are very happy we listened! We love visiting the mountains and this was a great place to stay to do so. The property is dog friendly, and our two pooches appreciated the vacation from their daily spoiled lives. The location is great, and the property itself is wonderful. The creeks are gorgeous and the trails are well maintained and marked. The house itself is beautiful and clean. David and Lilly are great hosts and we will certainly be returning, and probably soon!

Beautifully nestled in nature
Nestled in nature, this home is beautifully decorated. We enjoyed our breakfast while watching hummingbirds in the flowergarden. The screened in porch is a cozy spot to rest while hearing the rain and the kitchen stocked with all the coffee and tea supplies you'll need. We enjoyed s'mores on the back porch and taking the dogs for a walk to the waterfall on the wooded trail behind the house. This was a nice place to escape and relax for awhile. The owner quickly responded to any problem, and was very welcoming. Thanks for the great stay.

Five-star rating is well-deserved!
It's not often that a place fully lives up to its description, but this one definitely does and more! The location is peaceful and private, but also very close to hiking trails, Mentone, and Fort Payne. The house itself is beautifully decorated with many thoughtful touches (like string lights and live plants and super soft sheets). And the kitchen has absolutely everything! Also very pet friendly with dog bowls, crate, towels, etc. provided. (There are a couple of loose neighbor dogs who will approach you as you enter/leave the property; they are friendly, but they do bark at you.) We very much enjoyed our stay and hope to return!

Peaceful and relaxing stay
The host contacted us after checkin to make sure we found the home as described and see if we needed anything. He was helpful and responded quickly to any inquiries. The cabin is warm and inviting. The kitchen is well stocked with everthing you could need and more. The masterbed is very comfortable and the view into the woods from the deck is a perfect place to enjoy your morning coffee or evening cocktail. The property was so enjoyable, whether sitting on the front swing looking into the small garden or exploring the trail down to the creek and waterfall. I have to mention how sweet it was to have a 3 dog welcoming committee whenever we drove onto the property! What a treat and my dog made quick friends! We would book this cabin again and highly recommend it for any nature lover who is looking for a serene place to stay.

Everything about this place was great. The home was beautifully renovated and the decor was equally as beautiful. The master bed is super comfortable and the back patio and screened in porch over looking the property are just as cozy(enjoy your naps on that porch sofa). The home was equipped with everything we needed and then some, including an abundance of firewood for the porch fire pit or the fire rings out back. The vegetable and herb gardens were a nice touch also. The kids loved being able to hike down to the creek and waterfall. All in all this is an awesome area to visit and the home is definitely a cozy home away from home. We will most definitely be recommending this out friends and family and we won’t hesitate to book this home on our next visit. It was a pleasure meeting y’all and tell the neighbor pups the kids say hello(my son says tell the goat too) Thanks again for helping us make so many more great memories

We had a wonderful stay at this woodsy hideaway! Everything was perfect from the excellent directions to the super comfy king bed. The pictures do not even do the place justice. Wonderfully appointed kitchen with everything we needed. We really enjoyed relaxing on the screened in porch listening to the birds and even saw a few deer pass by. Close to great hiking at De Soto and Little River Canyon. Highly recommend!
