Located on 320 acres in the High Desert Mountains of Far West TX, our retreat overlooks stunning canyons and rugged landscapes. Hike the Davis Mountains, visit historic Fort Davis, or explore the art and style of nearby Marfa.

This rustic space, adorned with wooden furniture and a cozy fireplace, invites you to unwind and relax. Desert light and landscape serve as part of the interior design, naturally immersing the unit into its surroundings. The outdoor seating area lets you soak in the expansive outdoor spaces, designed for big nature and high adventure. Experience the air, light, and colors of the mountain desert under brilliant night skies, connecting deeply with the spirit of the American West.

PLEASE NOTE:

- The property requires a damage deposit of $50/stay/unit on the credit/debit card provided. The deposit is required for EACH UNIT and is refunded IN FULL upon check-out.

Perfect house
The four of us loved staying at this house. It was perfect for a gathering place with other family members staying at the state park. The kitchen was well equipped, beautiful property to explore and the fireplace was ideal. We would definitely stay here again if in the area.

Amazing Views
We loved our stay at the Rock House with all of its windows and views. The bedrooms all had their own bathroon, which was great. I would highly recommend this house and look forward to returning.

Beautiful location and wonderful house!
Our family did a weekend get away to the Davis Mountains. The Rock House for perfectly situated and appointed for our stay. The views are incredible and location offers easy access to area attractions! The historic house gives you an authentic feel of mountain living and offers spacious bedrooms and living areas. Maggie was great and we did not encounter any problems during our stay. We will return!

Another Wonderful Time at Rock House
We have stayed at Rock House many times before and always enjoy it. The view from the back porch is amazing, and we love the convenient location near “downtown” Fort Davis and the Chihuahua Desert Research Institute! This time, we were impressed to see new furnishings, new linens, and other improvements throughout the cabin. Thank you for another wonderful stay! ❤️

The views and cabin exceeded our expectations. Truly one of the most gorgeous spots Texas had to offer. We had a small maintenance issue and the host’s team could not have been kinder or quicker to respond. We hope to return!

Staying At The Rocks
Very Nice rock cabin! Nice location. Maggie was a great host answering any questions we had! Would love to see a feeder placed on the property!!! Watched Mule deer on the south side of canyon with binoculars. I think that would only accentuate the beauty of the cabin in its great location sitting on the porch watching the wild life up close! Would be a good treat to a great cabin.

Wonderful Getaway
The getaway I had planned, complete with activities and entertainment, was completely altered when we saw the beautiful porch overlooking the Davis mountains. Nobody wanted to leave that view, so we didn’t! The house was everything we needed and more. Thank you!!

This house is perfectly positioned for your west Texas adventure. There is an amazing view from about every point in the house. Accommodated our 5 member family well. Our children enjoyed being at and around the house as much as anything else. Easy access to all the things (McDonald, Davis park, Marfa, Ft Davis). Really cool place.

Stunning location, wonderful host
Wow! This property is incredible and is one that stunned us in its beauty and location. The Rock House had everything we needed and more, the host was very responsive to any inquiries we had (Jennifer and Richard are gracious and delightful hosts!), and the accommodations were very comfortable. It made for a quiet retreat site, but was close enough to Ft. Davis and the McDonald Observatory to make the location perfect. We'll hope to return there again since it's now a favorite!

Our own Star Party
Our group consisted of my wife and I, son, daughter-in-law, and 5 year old grandson. The Rock House was as described and we thoroughly enjoyed our 4-night stay between Christmas and New Year's. We were unable to get tickets to the McDonald Observatory Star Party, so we made our own on a beautifully clear and cold night. What a view! Thanks so much.

Family get together for star gazing
My husband and I are from Colorado and we joined my son and 11 year old grandson from San Antonio for 2 nights at the rock house for some star gazing. I had heard that the Fort Davis area has some of the most spectacular views of the night sky in the country. We weren’t disappointed. We were also in close proximity to the McDonald Observatory and Fort Davis. We weren’t disappointed with our stay at the Rock House either. It offered lovely views of the surrounding hills and lots of space for walking with our dogs. Maggie, our host was amazing. The house was in perfect condition. Her messages were welcoming and she was quick to respond to our questions. We will definitely return for another visit.

Amazing getaway
We fell in love with the property as soon as we pulled in. It’s isolated so you have time and focus with your family. The views are incredible. The sun rises over the mountains on one side and sets on the other. Easy drive to the observatory, Marfa, Alpine, etc. Inside, the pictures don’t do the property justice. Very cozy, comfortable with the amenities you’d want. We had 4 adults and two young kids and it was very comfortable for all. Nice beds (rare in any rental much less in a quiet part of the world), good kitchen, washer dryer. Plenty to explore around the property if you have young kids. Ours didn’t want to go home. Would love to stay here again.

The Views, The Views and THE VIEWS!
The Pictures do not do justice as the views are spectacular, both am and pm. Be prepared for a long and dusty road to and from the property, but again, it is worth the view and the privacy. The only input I would have is to somehow fix the floor vibration in the dining area. As you sit at the table, the floor and the table vibrate and you feel it while sitting. And either note that the ice maker is not working, or provide ice and/or trays. And finally, have a few spare trash bags for the kitchen receptacle. Otherwise are stay was fabulous and recommend to all.

Gorgeous Views!
Wow!! What a beautiful cabin and AMAZING views!! We had such a great visit, and I just can’t say enough positive things about it. I read other reviews referencing mice. I fully expected that to be an issue, but we did not hear or see any while we were there. However, we kept our food in the fridge and in coolers, so we didn’t really lure them out. Plus, our dogs came with us, so that probably helped. Every year, my kids and I take my parents on a little trip somewhere in Texas, and this year, we chose the Davis Mountains. I’m always sad to leave bc I never know whether it will be our last trip together. However, I feel comforted knowing that even if it is, we made some amazing memories this weekend. Thank you for hosting us, and I hope others will enjoy your home as much as we did.

Hidden Hideaway
Great 2 night stay. Convenient to the Chihuahuan Desert Research Institute and McDonald Observatory, although the star show from the property was already unmatched! Very clean, spacious and comfortable. Hope to return with family/friends!
