This place was described as quirky in the listing and it was! But more charming than quirky. We loved it and our stay there. It’s very clean, the beds are comfortable, and the kitchen has all you need for a long stay. It’s also conveniently located in the village of Fordingbridge and close to many sites whether you travel north, south, east or west. The host could not be more friendly and helpful. I highly recommend it to anyone for a long or short stay.
Property was very clean and well equipped with good local info, we experienced some minor hiccups due to not being able to get on line for entry into the property, and the stairs gave us a work out because of our age. Overall great stay and thank you
Couldn't recommend the lodge more highly. The accommodation appears to have been recently renovated with no expense spared. It is warm, comfortable and in a perfect location. Will definitely be booking again.
We had a lovely weekend staying here, the property was very clean and equipped. Janis the owner was quick at answering any questions. We did have a little trouble finding it but was quite fun, it’s above the Chiropractor.
Comfy beds, very clean, well equipped on a busy road but didn’t bother us.
Excellent they provide a parking permit for the car park just behind the house.
Janis was lovely to deal with super helpful.
Great central location. Hosts provided excellent communication and property was very clean, well presented and a great combination of old, quirky and modern. Stairs to top floor make it unsuitable for anyone who would struggle with stairs. We would definitely stay again. Go to The George, terrific pub by the river and less than 100 yards away; recommend booking at weekends.
An interesting property in a quaint village - beware of staying here during a summer heat wave
We booked this property in Fordingbridge since it was a reasonably short drive from Southampton (prior to our cruise). The plan was to spend 3 days in SW England (Bath, Stonehenge, etc.) and take in the charm of a small village. The property is lovely, however it is without air conditioning (A/C) and proper ventilation and during a summer heat wave, quite miserable. The owner did her best to provide fans, however despite her best attempts - it was still very hot in the house and impossible to sleep at night. As an American, I guess we are used to A/C and the heat wave made the stay quite unpleasant. The village is quite charming and the parking situation was easy to figure out. The front door to the property is on a very busy street there were some "close calls" with trucks and lorries on certain days.
We spent a lovely long weekend in the New Forest, staying at Golden Key Lodge, which is a quirky building with a very rustic and "cottage like" feel. It is well decorated and clean with double glazing to keep the noise from the street out. All facilities were above standard with lovely powerful showers, easily adjustable heating and everything we could have wanted to hand. I would come again, and I would recommend to friends.

Really easy to rent and communication was very good. Finding the property was a little trickier but we came in the dark so that’s why it was slightly more difficult. A superb stay and would highly recommend!
Really enjoyed our stay at the golden key lodge, very beautiful unique building with plenty of space for a big family of 6, fordingbridge is a wonderful little town, the kids loved playing in the river and park when it was sunny, also just 30 minute drive from Bournemouth beach and Poole plus in the edge of the new forest so plenty to do. Parking is literally a 2 minute walk from the lodge and shops for food across the road. The photos on line don't really do the lodge justice it's modern living in a old house that has been put together perfectly with great care. 100% recommend it.
Beautiful quirky property with sloping floors and beams everywhere!
I wish at some point there had been communication as to the fact it had no garden and was incredibly close to the road to Salisbury. Traffic noise was constant from early hours and there was a loose drain cover in the road that was annoyingly loud. (Could the council do something about it?)
However, all the family enjoyed Fordingbridge, the shops were so convenient as was The George which is a lovely pub. Good location to explore both the New Forest and the coast.
We really enjoyed our stay, it was comfortable, well stocked and the decor was well thought through.
Thank you!
We booked this accommodation as we were visiting peppa pig world. We had a lovely time. The accommodation is so central and very close to peppa pig world about a 20min drive. The accommodation is opposite a Tesco’s too. It is such a lovely house and very very clean. It had everything we needed and it was lovely and warm. We would definitely recommend! Contact with the owner was very good she got back to us very quickly And sent us pictures on how to find the house and where to park.
We enjoyed our weekend away the property was very good and the fact that it was over 300 years old and the layout was very interesting added to the fun. it was very clean and well equipped and the grandchildren thought the sloping floors in the kitchen were great for rolling down
