La Playa Beach Front Beauty!

One of Folly's Best! La Playa is a clean and comfortable 1 bedroom condo with hardwood floors throughout and a king size Tempur-Pedic mattress that makes sleeping heavenly in this oceanfront condo. It's located on the first floor of a three story elevated complex that sits directly on the beach. The building was recently renovated to feature new decking and upgraded A/C units. Wake up to enjoy the beautiful beach sunrise from the shared balcony or relax on the porch and enjoy the warm sunshine watching the dolphins play while sipping your morning coffee. The night sky is perfect for stargazing while listening to the waves crash onto the shore. You even have access to a shared washer/dryer during your vacation too! You can park your car in your reserved parking space the entire time you are here because everything is within easy walking distance. A few words from the owner: “My wife and I like to enjoy our condo often. Rest assured you will find our condo clean and comfortable with nice furnishings and a fully equipped kitchen. I strive to have one of the nicest condos in the building. Our goal is to have every guest return for their next vacation.” Beach lovers can enjoy the beach from the front balcony or by crossing the private boardwalk over the sand dunes right onto the sand. During the summer enjoy the water at one of the only sections of beach with a lifeguard. Those that like to fish can walk less than a block to the Fishing Pier to join other anglers working these very productive spots. Great restaurants, fresh seafood vendors and a grocery store are all nearby. This unit is a great base to explore the beach and the Historic City of Charleston. Folly Beach Suites shares laundry & HVAC with the neighboring unit, a locked door leads to the adjoining laundry room. Please keep temperatures at recommended levels and remove clothes from washer/dryer as soon as possible.

LaPlaya allows up to 3 well behaved, house-broken, flea treated dogs with approval. Please include the breed and size of your dogs when you inquire. This rental includes 1 reserved parking space. While we manage this property we do not manage the maintenance of this building. All photos are current and accurately depict the property. Please book with confidence. Loved it being right on the beach. Everything was in walking distance. Didn’t drive while we were there except to go sight seeing one day. Grocery store one block away and restaurants were 2 blocks away. Very nice place to stay. The wife is already to go back in January.

We were so impressed with this condo and with the property management. It was a beautiful place and very clean. The convenience was the best part. We were right at the beach and the pier and convenient to everything around us. Any correspondence we had with the property management was very polite and efficient. They responded right away and were very helpful. I would love for there to be an elevator but we do plan on staying again in the future.

Being right on the beach was great. Unit was clean and bright. Only thing is the walls are very thin and you hear everything, but it wouldn't stop us from staying there again.

We have spent several vacations in Folly Beach. This was our first time in this condo and it was convenient to everything we needed. The management even came by to say hello. Only bad mark is we happened to be next to all the AC units for the building.

We loved staying in this condo. It was perfect for me and my husband and our dog. The view from the front windows is amazing and there are a lot of restaurants and bars within walking distance. The condo was very clean and nicely decorated!

Great few days at the beach!
Wanted a getaway before the crowds come in and it was perfect. Had my small dog and we were able to walk anywhere we needed to go. I literally parked and didn't get back in the car until time to leave! Condo was perfect size for us and loved having my coffee looking at the waves! Will be back.

Perfect Place
I was just remembering our wonderful weekend at Folly Beach and remembered that I had not written this yet. The condo was perfect, right on the beach, very clean and well maintained. Greg was the perfect owner to do business with and I would highly recommend this place to anyone. We definitely used a lot of Greg's recomendations for dining and shopping. Everything was perfect. Thanks Greg. Hope to see you sometime in the very near future.

Overpriced but good Location
We wanted to check in 2 hours early due to a surprise engagement and they said sure… for an unreasonable additional fee. It was clean enough to stay but not impressive especially since the cleaning fees for a 2 night stay were hundreds of dollars and other vague fees like “additional charges” (also hundreds of dollars) The beach view is really beautiful and the location is super convenient for walking around but absolutely not worth the cost. We understand fees with a rental but this was beyond overpriced for what you get.

Disappointed
The condo was as advertised, but it is notable that it shares a laundry/closet with the adjoining unit, which has a different owner. There is also a shared HVAC unit with the neighbor. For our stay, this neighbor had the entire contents of the condo on the front porch (also shared) with tarps. Then they started refinishing the floor in their unit. Since the HVAC is shared, we couldn't tolerate the smell of the floor varnish (the workers were wearing masks - we didn't think to pack any). So we had to check out with baby and dog in tow, and find alternate lodging. Glad it was low season or we would have been screwed. Greg was fairly responsive, and after some negotiating agreed to refund the remainder of the rental fee. Bottom line - you need to ask questions about the status of the neighboring unit before renting this one. You are more attached to it than you may realize from the ad.

Big Disappointment
We booked this oceanfront condo for a birthday weekend for my wife and were totally disappointed with the accommodations. We wanted a nice beachfront view and instead were welcomed by looking at least twenty five, 20’ ft. long by 3’ wide rusting pipes blocking our view of the beach. In addition there was a huge Caterpillar Tractor also on site. When I talked with the owner he said they were doing beach renourishment and that they would probably be gone by the next day. I asked if we could be moved to another accommodation and he indicated that none were available. On Saturday morning the situation became even worse with the arrival of 40 more pipes. The noise from the tractor was so loud you could not even hear the sounds of the waves from the beach. I called the owner again and sent him a picture of what it looked like with no reply. The condo itself was OK but the handle for the hanging blinds was broken and the futon by the window blinds would not fully retract to an upright position so in order to close the blinds by hand you has to move the futon out. By Sunday morning we just decided to keep the blinds closed since the view outside the window was so bad anyway. Other issues included a gas fireplace insert that was very tough to start and kept moving backward when trying to press the ignite button to light the pilot, rusted out end table on front deck, and hearing the sounds of people in the unit above us while trying to sleep in the bedroom. I would strongly recommend that anyone going to this condo complex or anywhere on Folly Beach check on the beach renourishment project before booking. For the rates being charged per night this was by far the worst experience we have ever had. The owner made no attempt to accommodate us for this situation and we will never go back to the La Playa again.

Unfortunately, when we arrived, we were greeted with the smell of mildew and a warm damp condo. The air could not be adjusted and it would not go below 73 degrees. It was hot and muggy. Upon reaching the kitchen sink, we were treated with two roaches. Additionally, the mice enjoyed a sealed bag of popcorn. The paint was peeling from the ceiling at what appeared to be a significant leak. Positives: the management was quick to respond to any messages regarding Wi-Fi and the actual stay. The location is great and it is convenient to walk to restaurants and shopping. Just disappointed with the bugs and mice and muggy humid mildew smell.

Expensive Hurricane Nightmare
Very disappointed with the attitude of the owner. With Hurricane Ian heading directly toward Folly Beach, he would not agree to a cancellation or changing the date. He quickly referred to the contract language and then became unresponsive. Owner would not consider any options for providing safe accommodations, although the contract states that he would. We were expected to check in on the evening the hurricane was making landfall on the Island. The forecasts were projecting 75 mph winds, 6 foot storm surge and “life threatening flood inundation” throughout the island. I can’t imagine driving my family into a situation where we would be trapped in a first floor ocean front room facing hurricane winds, with the fury of the ocean surge passing beneath our floor, being essentially in the ocean at that point, losing electricity, not being able to leave for hours, and praying the building doesn’t get swept away. The thought was terrifying. Our car would have been destroyed had we parked on the property. The entire island had widespread flooding and loss of power. The place is essentially an aged hotel room of wooden frame construction. The air conditioning is shared with the unit next door, so the control mode cannot be changed. The beach totally disappears at high tide. I would recommend looking for a place elsewhere.

August Vacation 2022
View of beach was perfect! Couldn't find code for gate to beach right away. Toilet paper and detergent had been misplaced but after quick call to property manager it was corrected. We stayed on ground floor and people above us were super noisy. It sounded like they were moving furniture and stomping when they walked. Other than that people of Folly were super friendly and we were within walking distance to everything.
