"Just returned from a wonderful stay at Chez Mathilde near Verdun. Annie, our host, was absolutely lovely — so welcoming and friendly, and she even treated us to delicious homemade goodies. The house itself was amazing, full of character with beautiful traditional features and immaculate furnishings throughout. It really felt like a home away from home. The area is fantastic too, with so much history to explore, especially the WWI sites nearby. We’d highly recommend Chez Mathilde to anyone...

"The gite was very well equipped and comfortable. Probably one of the best we have stayed in over many years. The surrounding countryside is variable, with flat plains , hills and lakes. If you are interested in Ww1 the preserved trenches in the area are the best I have seen. Verdun and Nancy, which are a short drive away, are both historical and picturesque."

"We had a great time staying here when we came to visit Verdun. We found the place to be very peaceful and we were able to really relax. "Het is een prachtige woning op het Franse platteland. Bij warm weer is het binnen lekker koel. Het staat in een heel klein gehuchtje, waar verder geen voorzieningen zijn. Dat is het enige nadeel, wel heerlijk rustig. Ook voor stadjes en musea en dergelijke moet je wel een eindje rijden. De eigenaresse is heel aardig en spreekt naast Frans ook goed Engels."

"Superb property, best we have stayed in (out of six). Well equipped with everything and more you will need, plenty of plates, glasses, dishware and cookware. Proper oven. Do not be put off by the appearance from the street - the property is comfortable, spacious, peaceful and homely, with wonderful garden, terrace, and seating/relaxing areas. "It's a nicely laid out, very clean place. Easy to get in and very central. Instructions for getting in and where to park were great. The odd thing is that, effectively, it's a sort of bunker. It's ground floor, but it has no windows to the outside; only light wells at both ends. It's not a problem if you're there in winter or are out most of the time, but not good for the claustrophobic! The bathroom is large and well equipped, but en suite for both bedrooms, which was interesting! Overall,...
