Half Dome Hideaway is a deluxe, custom built, 3 story, 3 bedroom, 3 bathroom 2,500 square foot home located 2 miles from the South entrance to Yosemite National Park. We've worked hard to have one of the NICEST homes in the area. Everything is first class including our customer service. We have a new central heating and AC system throughout the house. We have 6 modern flat screen, smart TVs on 4 receivers, a well equipped game room, unlimited hot water and custom wiring and lighting. See our pictures for more details and read our stellar reviews. Our beautiful home is located in the quiet little town of Fish Camp, California at 5,100' elevation. It is spacious, comfortable, and in great condition after being completely, custom remodeled and modernized. Each of the 3 floors has an extra-large bedroom, large bed(s), full bathroom, TV and large closet. Complimentary secure wireless internet (WiFi) is included and available everywhere on the property.
We have a first class 60Amp/220V, level 2 EV charging station with a 24' cord set up for all cars. That gives you a robust 11Kw capacity.
The main (middle) floor has the master bedroom, bathroom, fully equipped kitchen, dining area and cozy living room with a beautiful, easy to use, gas fireplace. The kitchen has a 3'x5' "island" topped with a laminated solid oak cutting board. The dining room has a solid oak table with seating for 8. This main floor has a large front deck with 2 tables, chairs, 2 chaise lounges and a large gas BBQ with utensils. There is also a private backyard with chairs.
The first floor has a large game room with pool table, dart board, TV, piano, guitar, easy-to-use gas "wood stove" and adjoining bedroom, bathroom and laundry room. This game room has a kitchenette with a sink/garbage disposal, microwave, blender, coffee maker, dishes and a large beautiful bar. There is a large patio outside the first floor with a table and chairs. The bedroom has one queen bed and one double bed (also referred to as a "full" bed).
The third floor has a large bedroom with TV and full bathroom.
Our home comes with 6 state of the art, flat screen, remote controlled TV’s. There's another 19", portable one with built-in DVD for misc use and convenience. Bring your own DVD's or gaming console if you want. Our DIRECTV satellite system lets you watch 4 different shows at the same time as well as lots of music stations. You can choose from over 140 channels plus all of the HBO selections and sports channels.
Our home has the biggest "on demand" water heater available for unlimited hot water. We recently put in large, tall toilets with "elongated bowls" for your comfort and convenience. Two of the bathrooms have built-in heaters in addition to the central heat/AC. This home is very well furnished and comes with everything you need to have a great time at Yosemite, Bass Lake and the surrounding mountain areas.
Anne and I have lived and worked in these mountains for 40 years, are well connected and will be glad to advise you on all of the amazing activities inside and around Yosemite. There is also plenty to do right in Fish Camp and the surrounding mountain communities of Bass Lake, Oakhurst, Mariposa and beyond. Once you have booked your reservation you will have access to our website. There you will find hiking, dining, and activity suggestions including the very popular, historic "Sugar Pine Railroad". Nearby is horseback riding, mountain bike rentals, hiking, fishing, ATV rentals, and the quaint Fish Camp general store.
A half mile from the house is the Tenaya Lodge that has 2 restaurants as well as a deli. There's also a large bar, and pizza parlor on the property. They also have a fully equipped, luxurious spa.
Our family home has always been an allergen free environment so we insist on no smoking inside the house and NO PETS of any kind. There are ash trays conveniently located outside every entrance for those that want to smoke. We don't allow parties. This will be strictly enforced, NO EXCEPTIONS.
It has a nicely built, but steep lower driveway. 9-passenger vans have made it up to the top and turned around but that is pretty tight. RV's need to park on the street if that's what you are travelling in. The upper parking areas are level and have parking for 2 cars/vans or 3 smaller cars. See photos.
This is a 3 story house and is not recommended for handicapped guests. Thanks so much for your interest in renting our home.

Excellent cabin for our family for our visit to Yosemite. Kitchen was perfect for all the chefs. Lots of space; inside & out. Beautiful porch. Great local to gateway to Yosemite. Short drive to dinner at the local resort, Tenaya Lodge. Comfy beds. Great communications with the owners. Quiet & safe.

Enjoyable cabin in the woods
This property is in a great location, very spacious, incredibly clean and well equipped with everything you need to have a great time in the park. The owner is very helpful and made great suggestions regarding park, sights & where to eat. My mother-in-law was with us and using a walker on the first floor was no issue. There is a bedroom & bathroom with access to the kitchen & living room at this level. Thanks again for a great stay.

Thorn and Anne's Cabin
The on-line description is dead accurate. The cabin is spacious and clean. 3 ample size bedrooms each with full baths on separate floors. Great water pressure in the showers with almost instant hot water. Kitchen is fully equipped, with a gas grill outside. The only utensil missing was a metal spatula for the outside grill. We did not melt the plastic one...The driveway is very steep up to the property and we parked the car at the bottom after the first day as the engine strained to make it up the driveway. This was not a big issue for us. Convenient location to the South entrance and located right next to the general store in Fish Camp. So if you needed anything, it is only a 3 minute walk to the store. Highly recommended.

Half Dome HideAway
Property was exactly as pictured on-line. Lots of room and everything was clean! Beds were comfortable, there were only 4 of us, but could see how 6 would have there own space based on the layout. Thorn did an excellent job in communciations from the time I booked thru the time I left the Half Dome HideAway. I will definitely book this again when returning to Yosemite. THANKS Thorn and Anne for allowing us to enjoy your Half Dome HideAway!!

Excellent Help in Difficult Time
From the minute I booked the property to the day of my arrival, Thorn and Anne went above and beyond with communication. First, I was provided very detailed information about how to access the best areas of Yosemite and when and how to get my reservation pass. The property owners checked in with me periodically leading up to my trip. Unfortunately on the day of my arrival, wildfires made accessing the cabin impossible. Thorn and Anne were so great at helping me navigate the cancellation process when they clearly had bigger issues to deal with as the fire was very close to their property. I will definitely book with them on my next trip to Yosemite.

The perfect home while exploring Yosemite
Can't say enough positive things about the home. It was the perfect location and just down the road from the south entrance to the Park. Very easy to find, even in the dark and the owner is extremely accessible and always only a text away. He responds within a few minutes and has a lot of local advice on things to do or see. The home had all the amenities we could want, was very spacious and there was copious attention to detail that lended to a very cozy environment with a great deal of creature comforts. The little things were nice such as included coffee, snack bars, bathroom supplies, etc.. We sat, talked and enjoyed our breakfast/coffee each morning on the patio and there's a comfy hammock behind the house in the shade. Lots of games to play and a pool table downstairs. The beds were very comfortable and plenty of linens and bath supplies. The upstairs (second floor) is noticeably warmer than downstairs but even without AC, we didn't have any problems though we turned on the fan and opened the window a few nights during our stay at the end of June. It cools off significantly at night but I can see where it might be a bit warm during the day to some during warmer summer months, though hopefully most people are out enjoying the park during that time. I washed clothes once during the trip and the owner had thoughtfully included detergent and fabric softener. There is ample enough room easily for 2 families though there was only 2 of us during our trip. We found that the drive every morning into Yosemite valley was rather enjoyable, extremely scenic and not too lengthy. We are avid hikers and exhausted ourselves each day on a combination of trails within the park and it was nice to get away from the crowds after each day and spend them back in Fish Camp at the mountain home. In hindsight, I feel as if I lucked out in choosing this home as I was completely unfamiliar with the Park and geography. There are a great many advantages to being outside the park and this is about as convenient as you can get. Mariposa Grove is just a few minutes down the road so I would encourage any new travelers to check it out during your stay. There are several eating establishments near the home and two groceries in Oakhurst where you can get groceries to fix meals at home should you desire. Again, we had a wonderful time and would absolutely stay again on a second trip to Yosemite.

Deluxe, completely equipped, comfortable with a killer location
When I saw this new property available in Fish Camp, I was very excited. Our family has visited the area for years and we know that for many reasons, this tiny town at the entrance to Yosemite is the ideal place to stay. The nearby Tenaya Lodge and the city of Oakhurst (20 minutes away) provide all the activities and supplies you will ever need at reasonable prices. What immediately caught my eye about Half Dome Hideaway, however, was its location off the main highway but convenient to it. Many other rentals in the area lack one or the other. As I looked deeper into the amenities and thought about the size and sleeping arrangements, I thought this might be the perfect place for my family. And so it proved. In short, the home is beautiful, spacious, comfortable and a real value for a party of seven. Recently and completely remodeled, the living and dining areas were big enough to hold our whole group for dinner, movies and conversation. The wall of windows there with forest views create a truly spectacular setting and “billions and billions” of stars in the nighttime sky are just a few steps away on the large front deck. The game room on the lower floor allowed for raucous games of 8-ball and the viewing of a ballgame or two accompanied by sodas and adult beverages at the bar without bothering the movie watchers on the floor above. The kitchen is well-equipped and served us well for breakfast and an “after-Yosemite” dinner. Hot water was endless in the three bathrooms for morning showers (they have an on-demand hot water system). It was cool in April and the central heating was much appreciated. The bedrooms offered privacy and quiet for those who turned in early and the late-night TV watchers got their fix on the bedroom TVs. BTW, there is a full laundry which came in very handy after a close encounter with a muddy trail during a bike ride over at the Tenaya Lodge. In and out was easy too. While the driveway appears steep, it turned out to be a breeze for two passenger cars and an SUV. There was a parking spot for each of us with easy access to the main levels of the house for loading and unloading. Of course, location, location, location. The entrance to Yosemite is literally a mile away which is very important for the “early” start so often required on visits to one of our most popular national parks. Exit the park at the end of a long day and you are home - far from the crowds in the Valley. Highly recommended. We'll be back.

Annual Family Vacation
Our family of 6 adults and one 4 year old had a wonderful time at the house. For the last 4 years we have been going to different National Parks and staying in vacation rentals. This home was wonderful for family meals and for playing games in the evenings. The location was great for entrance on the west side of Yosemite. The house was overall clean and had all the amenities that are needed to stay and make family breakfasts and dinners. Everything was in working order and no issues occurred. Thorn was wonderful in his communication to us and it was nice to talk with the owner of the home and not an agent. Thank you Thorn for all of your insight on adventures in the area! Would definitely stay there again with our family.

Labor Weekend getaway
We enjoyed our 3 day stay at this Fish Camp property. The amenities were plenty to provide all the comforts of a home away from home for all ages. A bedroom in each of the 3 floors were comfortable and afforded privacy with each one having their own bathroom. Living room furniture was very comfortable and spacious. A TV in every room. The pool table was enjoyable for the kids to play with. The propane BBQ on the deck was easy to use. And they had an EV charging unit on the premise that made it easy for my Tesla to charge overnight. The location within Fish Camp made everything nearby attractions very accessible and a short drive for a day trip. The owners were also very thorough and responsive to any questions in a timely fashion. I would recommend this place and plan to be back again.

Family summer vacation
The cabin was beautiful and well equipped! It had everything you could want for a vacation. The owner was very nice and you could tell there was a lot of care put into the property. Our main goal was to visit Yosemite and the property is only a few minutes to the gate. However, once in the gate it is about an hour drive through the mountains to the more popular attractions of Yosemite. Would definitely book the cabin again, but if we want to visit Yosemite I think we will stay inside the park.

Handy to Yosemite south entrance
We loved our stay at the Half-Dome Hideaway! We all had our own bedrooms and bathrooms, and the location was so close to the south Yosemite entrance. It took about 5 minutes to get there, and then Mariposa is right after that. We were also very close to the Tenaya Resort and the Yosemite Trails horseback riding. You really wouldn't even need to go into Yosemite to find fun things to do! This home was fully-appointed, clean, quiet, and comfortable. Highly recommend!

Great Stay - I get why it's 10/10
We stayed at Thorn and Anne's place for 4 nights / 5 days for a Yosemite trip. Location: very convenient, only 6 minutes from the south entrance and there is a corner store just down the street. We did the Sugar Pine train ride which was also about 5-10 min from the house. House: one room/bathroom /floor, which was great for 3 couples. Plenty of entertainment like a piano, pool table, puzzle, and open kitchen and living room. The back deck was especially nice. But the main reason for the 10/10 would be the host communication. Not only were they prompt and attentive communicators, they went above and beyond, such as ensuring we had the right park pass, reserved time into Yosemite, detailed instructions on the driveway. If they had additional properties, i would stay there too!
