This would not have been an issue had we have known but only found out after the first night when they ate my chocolate which would not have been left out had we known. We also found droppings in the kitchen draws and fireplace behind which was a mousetrap! The facilites were good however we could not use the tv as did not have the code and the owner did not respond to multiple requests for it."

"Lake Hotel Gistihusid Egisstadir was night 6 for us on our journey around Iceland’s famous ring road. This hotel was seemed a little out of the way but perfectly placed for our itinerary. There was an on-site restaurant, and many groups stayed for the night. The atmosphere was vibrant, and the guests all seemed very happy. We stayed in a ground-floor room that overlooked the countryside. It was remote and peaceful. We had a lovely evening here. "

I was a bit confused about whether or not I'd need special instructions for check-in, but actually if you are going to arrive in their regular time window (4-10pm) then you don't need to worry about any special instructions.
