The Neighborhood:
Falmouth is one of Cornwall's most loved towns, brimming with independent shops, a brilliant foodie scene and three stunning beaches. In just a short wander down the road, you will find freshly baked breads, cakes, pastries and savoury tarts in Oggies Cornish Bakery and good pub grub at Five Degrees West. The Star & Garter on the high street, around 10 mins walk, is also worth a visit for its award-winning menu. A little further, you will find the Falmouth Docks and within half an hour you can walk all the way to Pendennis Point - a must-see for epic views from the castle.
The town is loved for its creative feel and maritime heritage. If you love food, the annual Oyster Festival in October is the perfect time to visit. The festival marks the start of the oyster dredging season and celebrates the very best Cornish seafood.
A short drive from Falmouth, you'll find National Trust-owned Trelissick Gardens, with a woodland walk that’s free to enjoy and takes you right down to the banks of the River Fal. For a post-walk pint, we would recommend heading to The Pandora Inn (around 15 mins from the gardens). Its sea-front location makes it one of the prettiest places for a pint this side of the Tamar.
If beaches are your thing, Falmouth has plenty to choose from. Both Gyllyngvase and Swanpool Beach offer excellent conditions for swimming and sunbathing, and if you're lucky you may even catch the odd wave. A walk around the headland to Hooked on the Rocks is well-worth it on a sunny day, and it's even better with a drink at sunset.
Getting Around:
There is free parking for one car adjacent to the property entrance.
Given the remote nature of Cornwall, a car is recommended for getting the most out of your stay here. That said, the property is conveniently located and Falmouth has very good transport links with trains running from London Paddington all the way into the town centre. Falmouth Town station is a six minute walk from the house, and from here you can hop on for one stop to the end of the line at Falmouth docks or to Penryn in the other direction - a quaint fishing village.
Other Things to Note:
There is free parking for one car adjacent to the property entrance. There is a selection of car parks available locally, for any additional vehicles.
Dogs are welcome with a fee of £20/dog (max 2). It is on the condition they are not allowed on the soft furnishings or in the bedrooms.
Please also note that there will be a mid week check up carried out by the hot tub maintenance company to ensure it remains safe to use. If your arrival is on a Friday or Saturday, this will be on a Tuesday. For other arrival days, this will be on day 3 or 4 of your stay.
