A super country cottage; cosy, comfortable and with an easy-on-the-eye contemporary style, located in the peaceful rural village of Helhoughton. Why not step away from the routines of daily life - a break, short or long, at this delightful cottage will definitely help you to refresh and restore.
A typical Norfolk brick and flint character cottage, pretty Peony Cottage was built in the Victorian era and, following a full refurbishment in 2019, now enjoys a fresh and contemporary, country vibe enhanced by tasteful Farrow & Ball colours throughout. On the ground floor, entering the cottage via a welcoming entrance lobby, that sits adjacent to a very pleasant, well-equipped dining kitchen, with the benefit of luxurious Karndean flooring. Next door, a bright sitting room with views over the garden has an ultra-efficient Clearview wood burning stove adding extra warmth and an ambient glow on cooler days, encouraging you to unwind after busy day exploring the many wonders of beautiful North Norfolk. From here, a small rear hallway leads up to the first floor via quite steep (but straight) stairs, but a sturdy hand rail helps you on your way. Upstairs you will find two inviting bedrooms, one with a king-size bed and the other with a super-king which can be made up as twin beds, if preferred. Both are served by a large, smart modern shower room. Outside to the front of the cottage a landscaped, fully enclosed and private south facing cottage garden is a lovely option for somewhere quiet to sit and relax, or enjoy dining al fresco, on a warm, sunny day.
Tucked away on a quiet village road, where roadside parking is easily found, this pretty cottage is ideal if you are looking for a peaceful rural break. It's an attractive option for a couple or two, friends or a small family. Helhoughton is a charming village made up of flint cottages surrounded by beautiful countryside. Just south west of the market town of Fakenham, where you will find excellent local amenities, a renowned weekly market and a popular National Hunt Racecourse, and a mere fifteen to twenty minute drive from the popular coastal resort of Wells-next-the-Sea. It's a super base for exploring this beautiful area of North Norfolk, perfect for walking and cycling, as well as visiting local attractions such as Pensthorpe Nature Reserve, Sculthorpe Hawk and Owl Trust, as well as Houghton Hall with its celebrated annual sculpture exhibitions by prominent artists. Although there is no pub in the village (a small general store/cafe is due to open shortly), there is a very popular gastro pub, The Crown Inn, cafe and delicatessen at neary East Rudham which is a seven minute drive away. If you like to walk it's about 3.5 miles, and you can stroll back afterwards and feel rather virtuous!
