Sugar Pine Lodge is a magnificent mountain retreat is nestled in the deep woods just 25 miles from Breckenridge. It is a great area to stay because you can still ski and stay in a secluded luxurious home instead of a noisy condominium with traffic jams. You can still dine, shop, and enjoy the entertainment in Breckenridge as it is only 25 miles away. The home is totally secluded and surrounded by woods but yet is only 5 minutes from Highway 9. The views of the mountains are breath-taking. The white-capped Mountains are visible from the great room, dining room, upper deck, lower porch, and the recreation room. The home is decorated tastefully with cabin decor. It looks like it is straight out of Log Homes Illustrated Magazine. It has all the modern amenities but is surrounded by natural beauty. It's far enough away from the crowd to be secluded and private but close enough to get to skiing, sites, restaurants, supplies, etc. nearby.
The spacious living room has seating for 8-10 and has a cozy wood-burning fireplace (you'll want to bring wood to enjoy!). There are two master suites and three full baths. The master suite and bath on the main level has a private bath and a huge walk-in closet. The other master suite upstairs has a queen bed and flat screen TV. Both Baths are huge with 2 sinks and a tub/shower combination with beautiful custom slate. There is also a loft with a cozy reading room just down the hall from the upstairs master suite. Downstairs there is a large recreation room with an electric stove, a library, a flat screen TV, and lots of games. There is a separate room with a poker table, a full size wet bar, and two bunk beds where the kiddos or the adults can hang out. The gorgeous bar has everything you will need for entertaining or just relaxing while watching a movie on the big screen TV in the adjoining recreation room. Both rooms are beautifully decorated and the sofa is a sleeper sofa with an 8" mattress so it is very comfortable. There is a new huge hot tub on the deck with amazing views! Relax after a day of skiing or hiking!
In winter, (four wheel drive is required), there's Breckenridge world class skiing within 25 miles. Numerous other ski venues (Copper Mtn., Keystone, Vail, Monarch, Ski Cooper) are within another 1/2 an hour of Breckenridge. Other winter activities nearby include cross country skiing, Snowmobiling. During the summer, there's white water rafting, hiking, ATV trails, biking, fishing, hunting, and camping. You can relax and just enjoy the natural beauty or head out to the nearby towns/resorts/parks, and enjoy the unlimited winter and summer activities the area has to offer.
In the summer you will be in the center of all activities including old mine ruins, Montgomery Reservoir, Mt. Lincoln, Mt. Bross, Mt. Quandary and many more. Fairplay (just 10 miles away) is the activity center of the Colorado Rocky Mountains and is often referred to as the Base Camp for all activities some of which include hiking, mountain climbing, horseback riding, ice climbing, fishing, hunting, rafting, 4-wheeling, ATVing, mine exploring, canoeing, kayaking, and much much more. Alma is only 5 minutes away and offers dining, shopping, and entrances to some of the most beautiful drives in Colorado such as Kite Lake, Bristlecone Pines, and Mosquito Pass, and the trail heads to many of the famous 14ers.
If you can think of an outdoor activity, you will probably find it within 10-20 minutes of the cabin. It is a great home to call your "Base Camp". This is a beautiful home to spend any season of the year. The access is easy and 4-wheel drive is not a in the summer but is recommended in the winter months. Breckenridge is only 30 minutes away and the road is always kept open. It is an absolutely beautiful drive with very little traffic. If you come in on I-70 you can literally spend hours going 20 miles from the highway to Breckenridge so this is a fabulous option for those wanting to ski.
