I did not stay myself. I paid for the VRBO as part of a graduation present for my daughter - 2 months in Alaska. I came up and spent 3 weeks with them traveling. Originally I had reserved for the whole month of July, but as plans evolved I shortened that to three weeks, but gave a full 2 weeks notice rather than the 10 days required by VRBO. Below is their review.
We stayed here for 3 weeks. The rooms were clean and as advertised. The space is a little awkward, but met most of our needs during our stay. There is not really a comfortable place to sit and do desk work, so I would not recommend this place to someone who is working remotely. The pillowcases felt decorative. We had to use t-shirts over them in order to be comfortable. We were able to bring our dog, which was a crucial feature for us. The surrounding property is very pretty. We enjoyed sitting on the big wrap-around porch.
The host lives on site. During our stay, we had the feeling several times that we were being watched. For instance, the host emailed us to ask why we hadn't taken our dog out in a while. (We were at the unit the whole time and take our dog out frequently, but they must have not seen us).
After we left, the host contacted us multiple times claiming that we had broken or damaged various items or pieces of furniture in the apartment. These claims were false, as we specifically remembered them being broken at the beginning of our stay. The host did not believe us. I would recommend that anyone staying here should take pictures of any broken items when they arrive.
Overall, this is a fine place for a short stay, especially if you are going to be out and about a lot of the time. However, I would not recommend it for a longer term stay.
