"Can’t recommend enough - the location is fantastic (despite the uphill walk on the way back from town) for visiting, the rooms are super spacious and clean, the breakfast has a good range of options and price wise it’s such good value for money. Above all though, the staff genuinely care and will go above and beyond to help - I want to give a special shout out to “Andreia” who really helped my family and I out on several occasions, it seems she works all hours because she’s always at the desk! I hope she sees this because she was truly wonderful at her job and didn’t care we asked so many questions! No need to look elsewhere, you can book this hotel and I promise you’ll be pleased."

"The building was originally a Sugercane factory and the conversion has retained the dark hues and colours making the hotel warm and cosy. Our booking was for family of 4 and we booked into one of the garden pool suites. The package was b&b and came with an upgrade to the “premium service”. I would say the latter is well worth having as it gives you free access to the underground car park, the spa and an upstairs lounge with great views and where you can have breakfast (from a menu) and drinks and snacks. Really made the stay even better. The bedroom & attached lounge was large but had some quirky design issues. Eg the shower had no door or the bedroom was open to the basin area. Ok if there are two of you but needed a bit better planning when 4. This is a great hotel and as it was s not in Funchal (30 min drive) is much more relaxed and a spa. "

"I enjoyed my stay at Zarco very much. The room was very comfortable and renovated with beautiful linens and a great bathroom. The staff was exceptionally helpful and friendly. The breakfast buffet is outstanding with pastries, fruit, eggs, deli meats and cheeses and excellent juice and coffee. It’s also very well located walking distance to the historic area, the marina and beach promenade and great cafes and shopping. My only complaint is the street noise since my room overlooked the busy square below with a cafe open until 2:00am and lots of noisy people. I would happily stay there again but ask for an interior room. Be aware that you have to walk up 16 stairs to enter the reception area. I was lucky that some charming guests helped carry my large rolling suitcase up the stairs! Overall an excellent value and charming place to stay in Madeira."

"This is our second time at this hotel. And if we come back again to this beautiful island, we will stay there again. Location is wonderful. Hotel itself is a designation of relaxation and good food is what you are looking for. Room is so comfortable and clean. We had an error in our reservation through Expedia and hotel just corrected it for us which was so wonderful. "

"We stayed in 3 bedrooms villa. It's modern, big, clean, & comfortable place to spend with friends & family. The complex has beautiful beach view, clean & safe. The staff are nice & professional. The buffet food is excellent. The specialty restaurant is hard to get a reservation since it's limited space. I wish the resort tells & gives the guest option to special restaurant prior our arrival. "
