Excellent, comfortable hotel. Feels a bit more like renting a private, modern studio apartment, since the facilities are limited. I enjoy this so it was perfect for me. They do have an excellent breakfast and are very centrally located.

The perfect hotel
All the high standards for service, cleanliness, and design that you would typically find in a larger hotel, but with the focused, personalized attention of a B&B. My room was well designed, impeccably clean, and a welcome respite from my business in the city during the trip. My favourite features of the room were the high ceilings, big windows with lots of light, an amazing shower, and comfortable bed. The staff were incredibly professional yet warm - I found everyone I encountered to be genuinely friendly. You can tell the place was built with love and they are happy to be working there. A great environment overall and conveniently located to two metro stops (Florastraße and Messe Ost/Gruga). I would definitely stay again!

Different than expectations.
I wasn't prepared for the 'guesthouse' set up of the Georges. When I went to check in after work (around 18:15), the staff had left for the day and I needed to call a phone number to get a key released from a lock box; once I figured it out it worked fine, but it was strange. The room was nicely decorated and relatively clean. But a few things were off. There was a hole in the sheet on the bed, but as said, there were no staff on site, and I didn't want to call someone about sheets, so I just left it. Also, one of the curtains was half falling off, which made it difficult to close the curtains enough to block the light (they were too high to fix by myself). Also, to note, there is a lot of street noise as the hotel is located on a major road. Personally this wasn't an issue for me, but if you're sensitive to road noise keep this in mind. There are staff on site in the morning to make fresh-cooked eggs and help with checkout. The breakfast is ok, with the eggs, a variety of breads, cheese, meats, fruits, juices and coffee. Now that I know what to expect with the 'guesthouse' situation I would probably stay here again, but with the correct expectations next time.

Outstanding!
This hotel exceeded expectations! The hotel was in the perfect location for the convention center, and was easily walkable. Check in was over the phone, with a key box outside. The room was immaculate. If you are a light sleeper, request a quieter room. Ours was in the corner on the street and was a bit noisy at night, but not impossible. The breakfast was amazing, and the owner was amazing.

Pleasantly surprised!
Great hotel. Unassuming area but the hotel was really plush and homey. We had a bath and balcony which was a pleasant sunrise. The staff were lovely and the breakfast was one of the best we’ve had in a long time. We arrived about 6pm and the door was locked so you have to call a number, they give you a code to access a key lock box. Slick and easy process. Room was really nice.

Nice place. The room wasn't very practical for a business stay - more for a romantic weekend e.g. no table to put things on. Nice touches in the room and designer shower (which took me a while to figure out). There was quite a lot of traffic noise from the main road but it died down. I'll probably go for somewhere less boutique and more functional on my next business trip.

Lovely hotel
Beautiful boutique hotel in the heart of Essen. Very comfortable room, with great amenities - a little on the small side (I had a single room), but it was very cleverly laid out so it didn't feel crowded at all. Breakfast buffet was superb and the staff on check in and check out were very friendly. If only all hotels in Essen were as good as Georges...

DON'T STAY HERE unless you have to
The hotel was quaint appearing but the staff did not speak English very well. I was not aware that there was no elevator (lift) and was placed in the room on the 4th floor which required four long flights of stairs carrying all of my luggage. Room was well decorated but was very cold/drafty and noisy with street traffic. The internet did not work in the room and I told the staff but nothing was done. The only thing good about this hotel was the breakfast but it was VERY overpriced for what it offered.

Die Whirlpoolbadewanne in der Deluxe Suite ist perfekt zum Entspannen. Die vollausgestatte Küche und der große Fernseher im Wohnzimmerbereich sind auch perfekt geeignet für längere Aufenthalte. Obwohl wir die einzigen Gäste im Hotel waren, haben wir nur für uns ein kleines Frühstücksbuffet bekommen:) Check-in und out waren sehr entspannt und einfach per Zahlenkombination möglich. Bei den Parkplätzen um das Hotel herum, muss man etwas Glück haben, da diese nicht nur für das Hotel bestimmt sind. Wenn man bereit ist zwei-drei Runden zu fahren und zu suchen wird man jedoch fündig. Ansonsten sind auch viele Parkhäuser in der näheren Umgebung
