Come and enjoy our entire cottage in the trees on Jay Cooke Rd outside official state park markers. We are in a rural area in the small town of Esko, MN. A family friendly community with large yards.

Out the door and to the right, with a walk or ride you will find the superior hiking trail and the munger trail with Forbay Lake and other gravel walking paths to find possible rocks with potential Lake Superior agates. Y


The tall pines surrounding the cottage help you enjoy quiet star filled nights by the fire pit. With the sounds of up north nature and wildlife. We have six camp chairs, with outdoor and patio furniture to enjoy the up north outdoor vibe you are coming to find. This is your escape from the cities hustle and bustle but close enough to the craft district for grub and our delicious local brews made from sweet lake superior nectar.

Jay Cooke invites all outdoor enthusiasts boasting areas close by for snowmobiling trails, hiking trails, biking trails, x country skiing trails, disc golf, horse trails, snowshoeing, and great photography.

We are a kid and dog friendly cottage. Esko is on the outskirts of Duluth in a very safe and family friendly neighborhood. The community boasts large acre properties with privacy and safety.

There is a shortcut to Duluth through the jay cooke state park down to chambers grove park by mission creek and the boy scout boat landing. Great for fishing

We offer free *fat wood* to assist you in getting a great fire going and enough wood for a few more.

Our kitchen is supplied with any utensil you would need to cook a meal for the whole family.

We have a coffee pot that brews by the pot or uses k-pods. If you wish to cook outside we have a charcoal grill and freestanding grill for over the fire pit.

We also have a digital antenna with local channels and other popular channels for TV and a small library of some of our favorite dvds.

Our cottage does NOT have any cameras for your privacy.

We enjoy helping others discover the area residing a few miles away.

We went up north for the weekend & couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay! We did so much exploring in the area, especially loved how close jay Cooke state park was & munger trail. Food/shops were nearby as well which was nice. Loved how cute & cozy this cottage in the woods was!

We had a great stay at this property! Well appointed little cabin and we were able to sleep 6 in the space. Plenty of room outside to stretch out as well. Hosts were super about communication and sharing tips, as we hadn’t previously been in this area. Would definitely seek out this rental again!

Cozy, clean and close to everything we needed!
I loved this home and it was perfect for myself and my two small dogs. They loved the yard and I appreciated the clean, cozy home with modern decor and everything we needed. It’s close to the highway to Duluth or Cloquet, yet tucked away on a private lot near the state park and beautiful trails!

Adoreable little place, with everything needed for comfort. We had some fires and they did have some fire starters, wood and chairs for us.they had some essential oils and cute diffuser, an air cleaner and fans in each room. Very close to jay Cooke state park, quiet and peaceful.

Lovely stay in Esko
We had a wonderful time staying at this nice home in Esko, which was close to a beautiful park, quiet and in the trees and a short drive to Duluth. Highly recommend this place. The hosts were friendly and easy to communicate with. We were a day delayed and they even offered us a free day next time we come to make up for the day we missed.

What a wonderful place to stay place was neat and clean and the property’s host was just awesome had everything we needed and had a lot of zen which we love stayed here over the forth of July weekend and went out exploring Jay Cook state park during the day nice comfortable place to come back to to cook on the grill have a bonfire and just relax would recommend this to anyone that wants a great getaway close to a lot of attractions in the area will be back hear for sure

This cozy small house was a perfect fit for little getaway with our daughter and son in law. It was fun to just get away for a few days and make some memories. It was a short drive to Duluth. The cottage was very clean and had everything we needed. The hosts were very friendly and accommodating. We will come back.

Fishing trip
If you want a safe and private place to stay and get a chance to fish lake superior this place is fantastic, about 30 minutes from a well kept boat launch. The host was very helpful and the cabin was perfect for our group. I will be back again to catch more fish next year for sure. If you want a great stay at a great price you cant go wrong. Thanks again to the host.

Perfect little getaway
Our little family loved this cozy place! Easy to find, close to highways to get to Duluth, and not far from Jay Cooke State Park. Stocked kitchen, firewood and comfy beds. Communication was great and welcoming! Highly suggest doing this over getting a hotel room. Our oldest has already been asking when we’ll come back. ☺️

Family hiking and fishing trip
Our family came to the area for hiking and salmon/trout fishing on Lake Superior. This was a great place to stay. The location was very close to Jay Cooke State park for hiking and only a 20 minute drive to Duluth. We brought our dog and the yard was perfect for him to run and play. The fire pit was nice to have for s’mores and hotdogs and included a height adjusting grill too! They provided plenty of wood and fire starters for us, as well as chairs and a hammock. We were even provided the option for early check in and a later check out! We would highly recommend this cozy place! It had everything that we needed to be comfortable and enjoy. We will definitely stay again when we are in the area!
