Location! Location! Location! Anderson House is an amazing vacation destination with location and views that can’t be beat! Situated across from Ephraim's famous Anderson Dock. The historic house, built in 1864 by one of Ephraim's most prominent families, is rich in history.

The main floor has a large living room with the original 1864 log walls, molding and floors. A den with log and stone walls with comfy furniture and a Smart TV. A fully equipped kitchen and dining area leads into the impressive four seasons sunroom. with an award winning wet bar, and another smart tv. On the second level are four bedrooms (1 king, 2 queens, 2 twin beds), a sitting room and 2 full bathrooms.

Relax in the beautiful alpine garden, and enjoy dining alfresco on the stone patio with seating area and gas grill.

Anderson House has so much to offer. Charming restaurants are within walking distance, as is iconic Door County's oldest ice cream parlor. Stunning sunsets await you right across the street at Anderson dock. And if there is a fisherman in your party, pack the fishing gear! Anderson Dock is the perfect place to try your luck. Museums, caves, and a Door County Land Trust walking trail are also in our neighborhood.

A portion of the house, separate from the living area, is the Anderson House Shop and Gallery. Since 1969 the Shop has been one of Door Counties oldest and best loved gift shops. Our house guests will receive a 20% discount on their purchases in Anderson House Shop during their stay.

History of the Anderson House:
Historic Anderson House was built in three stages by Asslag Anderson, a Norwegian immigrant. After completing the dock and Anderson General Store, he built a small three-room house and a rather large summer kitchen behind the house. The store has a second-floor apartment which the family used for additional living space. In 1864 the two-story log home was constructed, a free-standing structure very close to the original house. In the early 1870’s the two homes were connected, a front porch was added, and a second story added above the first sunroom is the only part of the current configuration not built by the Anderson’s. Originally constructed as a working greenhouse in the 1960’s; then in the 1980’s, it was remodeled into a four seasons room.

With the completion of the house, the second floor boasted ten bedrooms and the house become one of Ephraim’s first guest houses. A grand piano graced the living room and the second floor had a bathroom, only used by guests, the family used the outdoor privy.

Anderson House is steeped in history and once again joyously welcoming guests!

Great location for Fall Getaway
Our group of four women (75+ age group) enjoyed our stay at Anderson House, with its prime Door County location and rich history. Especially lovely and comfortable was the "new wing" (kitchen/dining and greenhouse-turned-TV room). Paul and his wife were very welcoming, friendly, and knowledgeable. Our one concern is that older guests with ambulatory limitations should be advised that the stairway to second floor is steep and narrow (caution needed in the descent) and access to the large bathtub tricky enough so that only one of us felt comfortable using it.

Amazing place to stay in the heart of Ephraim!
From start to finish, our stay was fantastic! The house was a great size, our favorite room being the converted green house into a sunroom. The kitchen was well equipped making cooking so easy, the beds were comfortable and there were additional living/family rooms for those in our group that had to work a few of the days! The location was also amazing! Finally, Paul and Judy were the best hosts, attentive and helpful! If we weren't about to close on our own house in the area, this would be my go to place to stay when visiting Door Co.

A Beautiful updated historical home in a wonderful location. Lots of room to meet everyone’s needs and comfort. Beautifully decorated and well thought out. Exceptionally clean and having the owners close by was helpful I was not ready to go home and even the teenagers were sad Looking forward to a return visit

Great Location in Historic Home
Stayed a week in this historic home with my family. Have been coming to DC for over 20 years and loved the central location. Being able to walk across the street to watch the sunset for the dock was amazing (my son loved fishing there every morning as well). The house itself is very unique given it's long history. Given its age, you have to expect that it won't be like a newer home. For example, the stairs going up the second level are pretty steep and a little difficult to get up and down if you have older guests or really small children. The bathrooms aren't ideal (one small shower and one bath/shower combo that is difficult to get in and out of if you are young or old). However, the charm and location of the house make up for it in my opinion. Only pointing out if you have guests with some mobility issues. The internet is pretty weak and does not work on the second level where the bedrooms are. Would recommend putting in a mesh network or something to improve as there is literally no cell phone coverage for either Verizon or T-Mobile in the house (owner can't help that). Lastly, the house does have AC but it is not central and the master bedroom got really hot when we were there (but it was close to 90 degrees outside those days). But if you are somebody who is used to a cool bedroom you may be uncomfortable if visiting during high heat. Overall we loved our stay at this house despite some of these minor issues. Will probably stay again.

Sweet Spot
Overall, it is a picturesque house and an ideal location. The historic home exudes charm. There is a lot of room to spread out on the main floor and the patio area was perfect. The house is an ideal location in Ephraim and easy to walk to nearby places. The owners were attentive and so very nice! The only knock against the house (or description) is the AC. There is not a central air unit, but rather 2 separate units that work well except in the master bedroom. The AC does not reach in there which made for a very stuffy room. There are windows you can open but this is information I would have liked to know ahead of time.

a dream come true
I have wanted to spend time at this home for a few decades now. The fact that it is now on VRBO was just a perfect gift to me and my (now) husband and made our wedding weekend just that much more special. It's a beautiful home, part of Ephraim's history, and very comfortable for 6 guests. The house has many spaces in which to relax, including a lovely garden. And the location is superb.

We loved our stay at the Anderson House. It was even better than described in the listing. There was more than enough room for five adults to spread out. Overall a great stay for our family to relax and enjoy beautiful Door County. Thanks for sharing your wonderful home.

Week away with family
Beautiful house in a great location. So many living spaces! We didn't need to use the AC as the house stayed cool and has many ceiling fans. Shampoo, tissues and bath soap would be good additions for future guests - at least small sizes for that first day. We brought a work computer and Internet speed was great.

Wonderful!
We loved staying at Anderson House! We’ve been coming to door County for 20 years and this is the first time we stayed in Ephraim. We thoroughly enjoyed the view of the water and sunroom. Anderson House has plenty of room to spread out. This is a great place to stay and the 20% off at the store is a wonderful bonus.

Seize your chance to experience history
We had a great time at Anderson House! I felt really lucky we had the chance to stay at such a well-run property full of history. I’ve been coming to Door County since I was a child, and it was really special to be able to stay at a house that’s such a strong part of its history, and part of the collection of historic Anderson locales in Ephraim. Just to be able to take my coffee across the street each morning and sit at Anderson Dock and soak it all in was worth it. The house has a modern, comfortable feel, and although it was a busy summer as usual right outside, we never noticed it when we were at the house. Don’t miss the chance to stay here!

Historical home
We loved our stay at the historic Anderson House. There are four living areas including a delightful windowed sunroom which we especially enjoyed. The living areas are quite spacious, the beds comfortable and the hosts welcoming. We were concerned that there would be a lot of road noise but did not notice any. We did not use the outdoor area because it was cool and rainy but thought it was charming. Great location for Exploring Door County.

Fabulous and quirky
Tons of space for us to spread out, location couldn’t be beat, and the hosts were very sweet and easy to get in touch with. Bring extra paper products (you’re given a limited amount) and bottled water if well water isn’t your thing. My kids loved the sprawling rooms and the atmosphere. Despite our terrible weather we had a great stay.

Beautiful historic building in a great location
My two girlfriends and I stayed here for a Girls Weekend and The Anderson House did not disappoint! It's such a charming home with so much character and in the best location. The owners, Paul and Judy, are an absolute delight. Everything was clean and comfortable and they provided everything we could have needed and more. I highly recommend staying here, especially if you can enjoy a rainstorm in the sunroom. It was amazing!
