There is an interesting selection of independant shops in the town itself and there are numerous places of interest to visit in the area. Working with a gorgeous view
A colleague stayed here for three weeks whilst on a work project based in Emsworth, He thoroughly enjoyed his stay due to fab location, water view, walking distance to work venue and Emsworth town as well as numerous walks by the water. He hopes to be back.

Lovely cottage in a perfect location
The cottage is lovely and cosy. Highly recommended for a couple who wants to have a quiet and relaxing stay in the town centre of Emsworth. Lovely views to the pond.

Lovely little cottage
We stayed over Easter weekend as we have friends who own a property on the same road. The property was perfect for our needs, bedtime and breakfast. We spent the rest of the day out and about. Seemed to have recently been painted and we had brand new towels. Stairs are a little dangerous for little ones but that isn't a fault it's just because it's a cosy cottage. We would stay there again if we couldn't find somewhere a little larger. We were 2 adults and 2 under 5s.

Lovely Emsworth cottoage
Compass Cottage is a very sweet house set in a lovely area. The house is very well equipped and comfortable. The only downsides are the lack of parking and the downstairs bathroom. The bathroom is also low so those over 6ft will struggle a little. I will look to book again when visiting the area.

very clean, great location but....
Very clean, everything in the property in excellent order and in a lovely location overlooking the mill pond but it's impossible to park outside the property. I know it's a small property and the modernization is the best it could be but the toilet/shower room is in the wrong place (at the back through the kitchen). I also found the stairs to be very steep and difficult to use safely. Im sorry but I would not recommend the property.

Nice Cottage with some flaws
First of all this is a great cottage with a lovely view. The bathroom isn't really made for tall people, luckily we are rather small. What you really should do is control if the persons who rented it before really did wash the dishes. Mould and dirty dishes is really not fine. Especially in times of Covid. I had to wash everything before use. I loved the garden, it's well kept with lovely roses. I'm not sure about the pet friendly stuff - it was advertised as pet friendly, bit there's stuff in the house the says it's not? You sent me a document about our stay and what we should do and what we shouldn't after a week in which was too late and very strange. No idea what to make of this. Communication over TripAdvisor didn't really work and it seemed to be a bit of a problem to get the information we needed, like two days before is very late in comparison to other cottages One other thing - more than one key for 2 people who might want to do different stuff from time to time would be nice.

Great location
As my brother lives in the area we knew the location so no problem finding it. The cottage was cosy with a lovely bright kitchen and dining area and pretty well furnished bedrooms. Stairs are steep but no surprise in a cottage and we managed very well. Downstairs bathroom does take getting used to but was fine. Surrounding area is brilliant, the village has everything and more within a 10 minute stroll and we enjoyed days out in Portsmouth Harbour, more there than you can see in a day to be honest and also Chichester. We used the train to get to both places so no worries about parking. We did take a car ride to Bosham which is very pretty and worth a visit. If you just want to stay in Emsworth there are lots of walks and interesting little shops to browse or just sit and relax looking at the water. Definitely recommend.

Great location
The weather was very hot and airless. The cottage would benefit from a fan in each bedroom. And the fact that the stairs are very steep and the bathroom is downstairs perhaps needs to be more prominently explained. Otherwise, the cottage is well appointed and in a great location.

Loved staying and working from Compass Cottage
Lovely cottage which is well equipped and in a great location. I stayed and easily worked from here for 6 weeks, everything was great. Beautiful views from the second you open the front door. Great location in the centre of Emsworth near the sea, and the independent shops, cafes and pubs.

Delightful Artisan Cottage in Emsworth
A delightful little artisan cottage, with character features but very tastefully modernised for a comfortable stay. Beautiful ever-changing views across the Mill Pond with the turning tides. Lots of lovely walks from the doorstep, with no need to drive. Emsworth has everything one needs, with shops and eating places for every taste. Good transport links to Chichester, Fishbourne Palace and Bosham. A most enjoyable week.

Family break
Fantastic stay at Compass Cottage. They kindly made up one bedroom as a twin for our two daughters. The cottage was very well equipped with everything we needed. Lovely location (parking was a bit tricky but we always found space in local car parks). A real home from home.

Excellent Short Stay!
I took Compass Cottage for a short break with my two grown-up sons. The property was all that we required being close to the water and within easy walking distance to Emsworth town centre. The house was clean and modern and we were lucky to be able eat/drink outside in the compact rear garden, The bathroom was similarly in great condition although the ceiling height was somewhat low for two lads over 6'2"! Charlotte at Henry Adams was very helpful. Great place. Would look to book again in 2021!

Nice cottage in good location but couple of issues
The cottage was lovely, furbished to a high standard with everything we needed. The location was great, easy to use the pubs and restaurants, walks from the door and easy to get around the area. The beds were very comfy. Like others it is worth noting the ceiling in the bathroom is low meaning anyone of 6' of over might have trouble but the bathroom is nice with a good shower. There were a few teething problems as the cottage had not been cleaned when we arrived. We got hold of the emergency number and within 10 minutes the cleaners were on the way to sort everything out. Given the circumstances this was handled well. I would recommend a curtain over the front door for winter though. There is a draught which made the living cool when it was cold.

Superb cottage in excellent location
We recently stayed in Compass Cottage with our daughter and son-in-law for a week and had a wonderful time. The cottage is well equipped and very cosy. The only challenge I had was the bathroom ceiling height was low for 6 foot 4 inch person. The cottage is in a fantastic location to explore the local area with great pubs and restaurants. Well worth the long drive from Cheshire.

Compass Cottage
The cottage has been modernised well. For older people, the bathroom downstairs is not ideal, with the bedrooms upstairs. Although water front, overlooking the Mill Pond, it is not nearly as attractive as the views from Avocet Quay, where we have rented before, - but on the other hand, it is conveniently located near the village and near Emsworth Quay. Parking was a disappointment, - a space was never available out side the cottage, and the public parking lot is a little way distance, which is not so good in the rain! Nevertheless, it was a good rental and we enjoyed our visit.

Quiet relaxed stay
Emsworth was a wonderful find peaceful and low key for both st south coast. Cottage was located on small residential road, mainly used by pedestrians walking their dogs, overlooking a mill pond. Cottage was comfortably furnished to a good standard. Good use was made of the space and well equipped. Raised deck area in garden gets a lot of sun. Central staircase is steep however the 6 year old staying managed it fine. More of a consideration is the sloping roof in the bathroom for very tall people. We enjoyed our stay and booking was straightforward.

Compass Cottage at Emsworth
Compass Cottage was very comfortable for a weeks stay, and warm and cosy during a chilly spring spell. The beds were comfortable and luxurious with plenty of pillows. There was plenty of bedroom hanging and drawer space. There was plenty of hot water in the newly renovated bathroom and I enjoyed baths when I had time. The kitchen is well equipped for self catering, although there also plenty of places to eat within a short walk. We have booked again for June and I look forward to coming back in the summer, and being able to use the rear courtyard on long summer evenings. As well as places to eat and have morning/afternoon teas, there are butchers, green grocers, bakers, a deli, a co-op and more within a short walk. Walks around the millpond and along the coastline. Easy access to the A27 to either go west to Portsmouth, or east to Chichester and beyond. I stayed on my own this time to visit relatives but will be back as a couple soon.

our Easter break
We had a fine week at Compass Cottage in Emsworth! Comfortable beds, nice bathroom, well equipped kitchen... But one or two points we were not aware of: no dishwasher (that was OK for us, as we only had tea and breakfast, no dinner cooked...) staircase up to bedrooms is extremely steep, more like a ladder, not really good for my 77-year-old mother-in-law there are no curtains at the living room window, so no privacy, as everbody walking past, just 2 metres away can look in otherwise, it was a very pleasant stay!

Compass Cottage, overlooking Emsworth Mill Pond
This is a lovely, compact and comfortable cottage, very well appointed and newly fitted out. The open fire and stove add ambience - not that you need them because the central heating is very efficient and simple to use. The cottage was immaculately clean. The cottage was very well equipped although most users would appreciate a cafetierre and for northerners (us) a teapot is essential. It would help if the recycling and waste bins carried the cottage name to avoid any confusion. Perhaps the letting agents could have a word with the lady in No 1: she lets her dog out into the narrow passageway in front of the cottages and we twice had a problem with dog dirt, narrowly avoiding walking it into the cottage. It was a lovely gesture to leave us a bottle of prosecco!

Compass Cottage
Lovely bijou Cottage - pretty location, and well positioned for local shops, pubs, coffee shops and restaurants. There is one problem - parking. This problem will be worst in summer. On street parking is mostly for local residents and the nearby free car park is much in demand from locals and holidaymakers alike.
