We love our home & we are willing to share it with you. Our only request is that you treat it as your own!!
our home has four bed rooms & a loft with two queen beds. there are three full bath rooms and a half bath, a full laundry room, two living rooms one upstairs along side the kitchen and one downstairs. plenty of space for the family.. sit back and Enjoy the wrap around deck.

As most people will ask are we located in big sky? No, we are just over the mountain from big sky, unfortunately it’s about a two hr drive around through Bozeman.

Fun times at the cabin
The cabin is awesome! The road into the property is rough. But the cabin is well worth the drive. The property manager is fast to respond to any questions or concerns.

Outstanding Yellowstone & Montana experience
House was beautiful, spacious and cozy. The views from the house were incredible, as was the area around the house - lots of wildlife and vista viewing right nearby! Convenient distance from Yellowstone’s north gate and cities like Livingston and Gardiner which had plenty of groceries, good restaurants, and anything else we needed. Would absolutely stay here again!

The house and property are first rate. Beautiful house. Well stocked. Clean and comfortable. The only issue that I would earn anyone about is the directions and quality of the road that accesses the property. The Tim Miner bridge has been washed out for over a year and the directions to the property have not been updated. That’s the way you’d normally get off hwy 89 for a short trip. As it is now, you have to exit on to the old Yellowstone road and drive at least 20 minutes on a washboard rough poorly maintained road which takes a half hour. This will add approximately 45 extra minutes to get to Gardiner because there’s no other way to get there. We chose this house for the great reviews and the proximity. The reviews are for real. The close proximity, not quite so much. There were minor maintenance things that need to be addressed. The dryer wasn’t drying because there was a dangerous amount of lint built up at the outside vent. Once we cleared that the dryer worked fine. The downstairs bathroom sink needs some clearing as it tends to stop up. We didn’t fix that. Again, relatively minor issues except the road issue. That’s a little more aggravating but this is meant to be a great review of the property. We have owned our own VRBO property before and feel obliged to point out anything that would impact a stay. The manager did say they tried to email me through VRBO re the bridge. After we booked. That info should have already been updated as it’s relevant

Beautiful Home & Mountain Location
Home was sufficient for 8 adults and 2 kids never felt like we were tripping over one another. Danyalle was always available via text or in person. Kids took the loft which they loved but it does get warm up there a fan is provided. All beds/pillows were very comfortable. If you like the outdoors this home sits high up on a mountain side. An SUV or truck is highly recommended on the narrow dirt road. We all totally enjoyed the experience. Danyalle gave us directions to go farther up the mountain to watch the grizzlies which we did. Awesome!!

Unsure How to Rate this Property
I rented this cabin 18 months ahead of time to celebrate my husband's 70th birthday. It was supposed to be an adults only trip. Six months prior to our trip, Pop-Pops decided he wanted to include the grandkids. I was able to arrange the grands coming along, but paid quite a bit additional. Because the bridge was washed out and still not repaired, we drove for several miles on a poorly maintained dirt road. When we arrived we found dirty dishes in the dishwasher, someone's clothes in a drawer, and no towels. We also learned we had to haul out our trash; with the poor road this took more than an hour. We were told the host would pick it up if it was not convenient; this happened on day 2 but were told it was not possible when we tried again later in the week. Because of the bear danger we couldn't leave the trash outside and we had a 10-month old in diapers. It would have been nice to have access to the garage to store the outbound trash. We also had to purchase more trash bags, dishwasher pods and detergent. The cabin itself is gorgeous and a great place for our stay. We had a great time and made wonderful memories, but these inconveniences were unnecessary for the price we paid.

The house, the views, the location…. All amazing! We absolutely loved the beautiful sunrise over the Yellowstone River. We saw lots of Elk, deer, pronghorn, and even a few bald eagles. The house was clean, spacious and just as beautiful as the pictures. We definitely hope to return.

This home was emasculate and very very nice. In addition, it lived up to its name with 50 resident elk nearby. Only challenge is the longer drive with the Tom Minor Bridge still out. Highly recommend.

A Great House
This was our second time at Elk Run Ranch. It is a wonderful property! Everything was very clean. The property manager responded very quickly and solved our problem: a large rock had tumbled down the mountain during a storm, and landed in the middle of the road out from the house. She had the rock moved, and we were on our way. We will stay there again!

Beautiful property Many problems
This property is beautiful; however, its beauty was overshadowed by the many problems we experienced. Upon arrival we were informed that the heat had gone out & the master shower pipes had frozen so the shower was not operational. My mobility impaired parents can not get into a tub. The next day the alarm starting going off & couldn't be shut off for 24 hours. Monday the microwave caught on fire. Wednesday the the heat went out, the property manager was no where to be found. The owner suggested we leave the house because he couldn't reach the property manager or the heating contractor. We had to cancel a tour we had for the next morning which cost us $350.00 in a cancellation fee. Later the owner calls & tells us the heating contractor is on his way. He finally leaves about 1am & the heat is restored; however, for that night & the next night, two of the bedrooms were so cold our guests had to sleep on couches. After six nights my parents really needed a shower so we left the house early & finished our stay in a hotel. The next day I spoke with the owner to try to work out reasonable compensation for all our troubles. His response was that "we should expect these kinds of problems when we come to Montana in the winter" Maybe I'm crazy but when I'm paying that kind of rate per night I actually expect everything to work. It seemed there was far more concern about what all these problems were going to cost than doing right by us. A fair resolution has not been offered.

Another great stay
This is our second time staying at Elk Run Ranch. We love the house, the location, and surrounding area. The property manager, Danyalle, is awesome. She checked in with us after the floods in June regarding our trip in July and had everything ready for when we arrived. The mountain views and mountain air were exactly what we needed after exploring Yellowstone and the Tetons.

Beautiful home
My family of 8 adults & a toddler traveled from IL & AZ for a Yellowstone vacation. We had chose this home due to its location- 25 min to Yellowstone’s north entrance, 10-15min to Emigrant, 45 min to Livingston & 60 min to Bozeman. The home was beautiful, clean and surrounded by mountainous views. The house had a variety of kitchenware & pantry items such as spices, olive oil, sugar, flour, condiments. There was dish & laundry soap, paper towels & toilet paper, bath towels & even bear spray. The beds were comfortable but did need new pillows. The house was spacious enough to easily accommodate all of us. I definitely advise having a SUV when driving the surrounding roads to the house. Despite the unfortunate, record breaking flooding that occurred in Yellowstone on our 2nd day, we all still had a nice time. We made it to the park our first day, fished, hiked & saw a lot of wildlife. Our 2nd day we had drove & we’re in Bozeman when the flooding occurred & the bridge right to the house was destroyed. As a result, we had to pay for hotel that night in Bozeman. Danyalle, the PM contacted us the next morning with news & directions to newly opened alternate dirt roads we were able to take back to the house. The rest of the week we were still able to do some nearby hikes, see some elks, antelopes and bison, attractions in Bozeman, and take a dip in Chico & Yellowstone Hot Springs. The house would have been absolutely perfect if it had a hot tub lol. You’re not able to use the fireplace or a fire pit due to the winds which is disappointing but understandable. Danyalle the PM, was responsive, friendly & helpful.

Family Reunion Getaway
Elk Run Ranch was a perfect house for a small family reunion we held the week after Christmas. The house was beautiful with spectacular views of the surrounding valley and mountains. The house was a relatively short drive to the Yellowstone NP north entrance. We also enjoyed Yellowstone Hot Springs and skiing at Bridger Bowl! If you visit during the winter, I highly recommend a 4x4 or all wheel drive. Overall a great place to relax and enjoy family/friends in a very comfortable house.

Beautiful Valley Home
This home was the perfect for for our family. It averaged about 30 minutes to Mammoth Hot Springs hotel depending upon road conditions. Convenient to both Chico and Yellowstone Hot Springs. Home was clean and well stocked. Danyalle was a great help. We had a small learning curve with the house, and Danyalle was accessible and more than happy to help. The listing of amenities includes elevator, but there is not an elevator. The listing clearly states that fireplaces are not for use, which I totally understand given the wind that blows really strong in the valley; however gas or electric logs would be a nice feature. A weather station that shows temp and wind speed would also be a cool amenity. I would definitely stay here again.

Absolutely beautiful!
It was so much better than the pictures can show. This huge beautiful home has lots of details and extras. Our stay there was absolutely wonderful. There is a rough road getting to it, but totally worth it, because the views are incredible and it is so peaceful. There are two huge wrap around porches to take it all in. We saw deer and Elk daily in the yard! My favorite part was using the big kitchen to fix meals for the family and the grill. It’s close to the park and I would highly recommend it to anyone. Danyalle took good care of us.

Spring break
This house is gorgeous inside and out! Although a spring blizzard made it difficult to see the winding, steep, dirt road to the house, we arrived to a warm house and everything we needed to feel right at home. We awoke the next morning to a beautiful sunrise over the mountains and elk in the yard. It was hard to leave when our trip ended.

Photos don’t do this property justice....it.is.stunning. Pristine, comfortable, amenities too numerous to mention. We celebrated Christmas here with our adult children, their SO’s, and our teenager. Everyone agreed it was a special, memorable holiday and there was talk of making it an annual tradition. Summer would be an equally great time to visit. Danyalle, the property manager, is amazing. So accommodating, easy to reach, and knowledgeable about the area. Such a kind person who strives to make sure your visit is a perfect experience, which ours was! Thank you, Danyalle!!

This property was exactly what we were looking for. It’s away from everything. No neighbors, traffic, or people. We saw no one while on the property. The house is very well appointed with all of the utensils and appliances you’ll ever need and we did some major cooking. There was a plentiful supply of towels and bathroom items. The house was very clean. So clean, I was hesitant to disturb the beauty of the Thermador Range. Danyalle, is a great host and made us feel very comfortable in contacting her if we needed anything. Which we didn’t. The house has it all. I highly recommend this property to anyone wanting seclusion in comfort.
