Comfy 2 BR Acadia Downeast Rural Coastal Home Fast WIFI, 30 Min to Bar Harbor

Our charming, quiet country Maine home with vintage wood plank floors and central heating is newly decorated with the quality and amenities that we like to enjoy at a vacation rental by owner. Located in Hancock County which VRBO named the best place to visit in September!

Enjoy rural coastal living for vacation or remote working with fast, cable Internet and lots of work or hangout spaces. It’s warm in winter and breezy in summer, with lots of windows.

LOCATION: You'll be 15 minutes to Ellsworth for food shopping & access to all points in Downeast Maine, 30 min to Bar Harbor, Mount Desert Island & Blue Hill. a nice 5-10 min drive to Lamoine Beach and State Park, and a 5 minute drive to Marlboro Beach.

Cook, hang, explore, experiment with rural living.

Our vintage home offers modern amenities for a comfortable stay including a new dishwasher. The shower is strong and hot! NEW PROPANE BBQ GRILL FOR 2024.

We've got a collection of board games, books, a vintage KLH Radio you can plug your iPhone into, and a frisbee along with a new Fire TV for your relaxation time.

Bedrooms:
Downstairs there are 2 queen beds, so depending on your group's configuration, the house MIGHT accommodate 6 (BUT please ask before booking if you are >4).

1 BR with queen bed
1 queen sofa bed in living room
2 twin beds (trundle) up the steep stairs

The stairway is like a ship's ladder almost - and because the bathroom is downstairs we think only older kids should stay up there in the adorable trundle bed.

Upstairs, a small, sunny room with blue-painted, vintage plank wood floors makes a perfect office to focus online...or on painting and writing.

Full sized refrigerator, dish washer, stove / oven, drip coffee and Keurig pod coffee maker, and lots of plates, dishes, and linens all provided. Great central heat too!

The large backyard on acreage is all yours.

A car is definitely needed. No Uber here! :)

We are nearby and available to help if need be. We love hearing feedback during your stay so we can make sure to have a great stay!

Wonderful Time Away
This property was the home base for a great Acadia trip! It was between both islands and we were able to see so much without feeling like the drive was too long! Would highly recommend here for a quiet getaway and relaxing times!

Just right cottage
This place was perfect for 2 people. Kitchen had everything you needed. Close enough for area activities but far enough away for a quiet evening.

This was a perfect home base for our small-family getaway to enjoy Acadia and the Schoodic peninsula. The queen bed was very comfortable, the younger contingent enjoyed the privacy of the upstairs room, and we appreciated the amenities, such as the very well equipped kitchen and the TV room with board games. Communication with the hosts was smooth. Though the bathroom was a little small for 4 people to share, it was workable and worthwhile for the other benefits -- including hearing the barred owls and having a great view of the Milky Way. We would be happy to return.

Perfect location for our Maine hiking trip!
This place was perfect for our hiking trip, it had everything we needed and was in the perfect location from Acadia and bar harbor. Our host was helpful and responded promptly to any questions we had. The only piece of negative feedback would be the place was a little dusty but overall we would stay here again!

Great location for Acadia
We really enjoyed our stay. The house was clean and comfortable and we loved the beach just down the road. We went hiking in Acadia, biked the Schoodic peninsula and shopped and dined in Bar Harbor. Great location!

Great house in a great location
The house was well equipped with everything we needed. We spent most of our time at Acadia, but also explored the area around the house. Great roads for bike rides and runs, and even checked out the little beach nearby.

Idyllic Maine
Like other reviews, this house certainly is well located central to all attractions and is also warm, welcoming, peaceful and the ideal natural setting for a lovely romantic vacation. The attention to detail for the comfort and needs of the guests is exemplary. We especially appreciated the solitude away from the crowds in such a beautiful setting.

This idyllically located home had comfort without clutter.
The property was ideally located for those wanting a quiet green space that offers a more urban experience nearby. The home was well-outfitted and comfortable. It was clear that much thought was applied to what to include in the amenities.

Look No Further!
We are from North Carolina and it was out first time in Maine. The first thought I had, after driving to the home (for the first time) from dinner in Bar Harbor was that it is too far away. That’s not true. The longer we stayed in Maine, the more I realized that it is a perfect distance away from Bar Harbor. At or less than 30 minutes is perfect so that you can stay away from the noise and light pollution and really experience the non-tourist side of Maine. The house itself was perfect. VERY CLEAN HOUSE. The manual outlines everything you will need to know about the house. The beds were good for us, and I even sleep on a high-end Purple Mattress at home, so I wouldn’t worry about that. The kitchen has everything you will need. The living room also has everything you will need but if you are in this part of Maine, you likely won’t be spending much time in the living room. We had no need of the upstairs but it was laid out well and clean up there. If you are quiet and vigilant, you can spot the wildlife in the backyard, or you can walk out to your car at 10pm and accidently scare a deer that is standing right beside your car, and it will scare you as well. You can see EVERY star in the sky. My only suggestion is that you download offline maps inside of the google maps application. I have Verizon Wireless and anywhere 20 minutes from the house, I had no service. This was no issue since I downloaded offline maps beforehand and can essentially use the Maps application normally. If we come back to this part of the world, I will not even seek out different lodging, I would come right back to this place.

A nice week in a beautiful place
Everything was just as described - the house was clean and Susie was a great host and always quick to respond to any question. The location was fine - it was about a 30-40 minute drive to Acadia/Bar Harbor, and while it would have been nice to a little closer, it was certainly manageable and we had no problems driving to the park each day. The only word of caution I would give is that my (adult) daughter had a mild allergic reaction to the room upstairs. Maine is humid and damp at this time, so my guess is that there was probably some allergens/molds that she was sensitive too and it required her to take allergy meds and an inhaler when she was upstairs. Again, the place was clean, so I'm not sure that this could have been prevented, but people who are sensitive should be aware.
