Property was clean and served our purposes well for having a place to relax between sightseeing. Our favorite room by far was the sun room, where we were able to view a Turkey with her babies walk thru the backyard as well as a deer meander thru as well.
Our stay at Karen’s place was like being at home. The beds were comfortable, we had air conditioning, wi-if, everything we needed in the kitchen, very organized home and decorating elements to enjoy. Thank you Karen!
The home is ok. The kitchen is nicely equipped and the listing has accurate information. It was clean. The area does command high prices so it was affordable for the area. I had misinterpreted the distance to Bar Harbor (listing shows 10 minutes Bar Harbor, ME but it was the airport) but the town of Bar Harbor is about 29 minutes away. That was my mistake. The plumbing is old and runs slow. If you’re showering please don’t let anyone flush the toilet. The TV is Roku TV connected to WiFi with minimal channels. I wanted to connect to YouTube TV (to watch major networks and ESPN) but that App was not available and owner/manager contact could not recall the Roku password (simply to download the App). Made several follow up calls to get help with no answer and voicemail not available. Frustrating. WIFI was very good. I could not get the back door handle to seat which meant it would not lock, except bolt lock. We could not get the patio fireplace to ignite.
The fridge wasn't working when we arrived with groceries but host was responsive and came up with a solution. The water pressure and temperature regulation could be better. Showers were either chilly or too hot. Good value for getting to Acadia.
Karens house is beautifully furnished and decorated. Very clean, good location. We all loved her antiques and decor. Was perfect for our 3 days near Acadia. Especially loved the enclosed back room/porch. Would highly recommend staying here.
We enjoyed our stay at this house in Ellsworth. The drive to Acadia NP is not far, and we liked being away from the touristy area of Bar Harbor, and having groceries etc. nearby. The property, although older, as is typical in Maine, is well-kept, and suited our needs as a family of four. There are lots of antiques in the home, so it might be more difficult to stay here with young children. Karen was responsive and was particularly accommodating when we needed to change the dates of our stay. Her directions were clear (albeit quite lengthy). We would stay here again as we enjoyed immensely our visit to Maine.
Was extremely clean. We were there during an abnormally warm time and the front bedroom did not have an air unit. That required all of us to leave bedroom doors open at night. It is an older home and some finishes were a little rough. Overall a nice place to call home for a few days.
