About Our House
Juanita's little yellow house was built in 1950 and was her home for many years. It has been lovingly restored to retain much of the original charm while gaining an updated bathroom and kitchen. The house has a vintage electric range and new dishwasher. Juanita didn't really like to cook, but there are all of the basics in terms of cookware provided. Guests can enjoy a light self-serve breakfast and can select from coffee, a variety of teas, granola bars, oatmeal, and other similar light breakfast items. There will also always be a variety of beverages in the refrigerator waiting for guests to arrive.
A major advantage to staying at Juanita's is the beautiful park directly across the street! There is a walking trail, tennis court, basketball court, as well as a playground and open green space. Perfect place to get some exercise after a day of working in our area or for getting outside on a weekend away. Whether you are here for work or for relaxing, the park is there for you just outside the front door.
This is our weekend home, so guest will find all that they need for a comfortable stay and have full access to the house. We are not scheduled to be there while guests have reservations.
I think people coming to stay at Juanita's will want quiet time, so I don't intend to be present beyond arranging for their key and answer any questions they may have about the house or about Elgin.
Downtown Elgin is the spot for antiques and thrift shopping. Some very fun home decor stores are less than half a mile from Juanita's house. And her house is also just off HWY 95 which will take you to Taylor, TX, just 14 miles away. Taylor is the home of more great shopping. Great BBQ (especially sausage!) is a wonderful reason to stay at Juanita's house. Elgin boasts some of Texas' best BBQ, all less than a mile from N. Main St.
There is plenty of parking right there on the property and guests will need a car.
Juanita never used the front door much. We suggest that you pull around to the back of the house and park in front of the garage. The key you get from us will bring you in the back door. After all, don't all family and friends use the back door?
Host will collect local and county taxes (Hotel Occupancy Tax required by Bastrop County) after booking confirmation.
