This place is a little haven in El Calafate, set in lovely gardens. We stayed for three nights in the dead of winter when there are few tourists about and we think we were actually the only people at the hotel. Attentive and friendly staff, very comfortable, clean and tastefully decorated rooms. A good breakfast. The only irritation was the lack of any tea and coffee-making facilities in the room - if you wanted tea or coffee you had to call room service, which is a bit excessive. The only other minor complaint was that the large fitness center with a well-equipped gym, decent-sized pool, sauna and spa - which seemed to be open all afternoon and evening in the off chance that we would wander in - was a bit too warm.
The restaurant is supposed to be very good, but we went out to eat both nights. Warning: by mistake we found ourselves eating one night at the huge grand hotel-type place up on the hill as you come into town from the airport (I can't remember the name of it but you can't miss it) - avoid it, the food was not impressive, the atmosphere dreary and it was overpriced. We're very sorry we didn't eat at least one meal at Los Sauces.
Highly recommended. I can't imagine there is a better place to stay in El Calafate.
