Come Enjoy Paradise With On-Site Dock And Lovely Sunsets

This property has been described as the prettiest place on Edisto. It is accessed via a long avenue of oaks winding through Blue House Plantation which dates back to the 1830’s and remains a working farm as of today. The property is very private and resides in a gated community of approximately 10 homes.
Our home sits on a point with the front being isolated from the adjacent properties. Private, serene and peaceful. Once you arrive you would think you were the only people on Edisto Island. The front porch fully overlooks Blue House Creek. Rock in the rockers enjoying the birds or read a book. The pristine view directly ahead is an old tree lined plantation. To the right 4 miles away is historic Wadmalaw Island. To the left is a large marsh area bounded by Blue House Creek.
This warm and sunny house is an open concept with two bedrooms adjoining the living area . Each bedroom has a queen size bed and a private bath. They each also have a full view of the oak trees , marsh and creek. In addition to the two bedrooms, there is a spacious sleeping loft area with a single bed. The kitchen has a sink, stove, dishwasher, refrigerator, microwave, and garbage disposal. It is fully equipped to facilitate almost any low country dish you can dream up. Enjoy your low country meal at the large dining table or outdoors on the picnic table.
The bright living area with is open with water and marsh views . A TV with local TV only and Wi-Fi is available.
There is also a large washer and dryer and mud sink in the laundry room .
Downstairs you will find a hammock to rest in the gentle breezes. It can be moved into the yard to better enjoy the island sun.
Enjoy the fire pit for cooking. It can be used for roasting oysters or cooking steaks over the open coals. Also great for just being outside on a beautiful starry night and having a bon fire.
We have a private floating dock and pier head, perfect for throwing the cast net, catching crabs and for fishing for trout or red fish. Blue House creek is very deep and usually has a minimum depth of 5 feet to the main channel at low tide with typically being about 11 feet at high tide. Great for bringing your kayak, paddle board or boat and keeping at the dock. Steamboat Landing is just minutes away by boat so launching your craft is not a problem.
This is very special property that will surely be a treat to anyone who stays here. It’s very peaceful and serene all year round. Due to the uniqueness of the property large gatherings or parties are not permitted.

Best place we have stayed on Edisto.
We prefer to stay on the island away from the beach crowds. This location is the best by far we have found. Beautiful marsh views, creek access, private, and quiet. The owner provides everything you need at a reasonable price. If you want to experience Edisto at its best this is the place to stay.

Beautiful Low Country Home on Edisto Island SC
Unique Property with beautiful views of the salt marshes of South Carolina. Very comfortable home on a river with a well-equiped dock. Excellant location for enjoying all the low country has to offer. No far from Charleston, Beaufort and several beaches.

Wonderful Christmas Getaway
Very nice and quiet neighborhood. The house is very clean with fully equipped kitchen. We enjoyed fishing at the dock, even in this time of the year, we still managed to catch some nice size sea trouts and black drums. The beach is only about 15 mins away, will definitely come back again.

We loved it!
What a beautiful place to spend some time. The house was clean and very well maintained. It was very secluded out on a point surrounded by the creek and marshland, which made for great fun fishing and crabbing. It was a perfect time of year to enjoy the porch for morning coffee and cocktails in the evening. We really enjoyed the panoramic view of nature and spotted various wildlife. Definitely will return one day!

Amazing
Our stay on Edisto Island was beyond all of our expectations. The home is lovely, clean and allows you to enjoy the beautiful property from every window. The birds and wildlife are so entertaining. We spent many hours on the dock fishing, hoping to catch a glimpse of the dolphins swimming by and just in awe of our beautiful surroundings. Thank you Craig for providing all the information we needed to truly enjoy our stay!

Loved it there
This place is perfect for 2 couples. (there also is a loft available for a pre-teen, or teenager—in my opinion, not suitable for a really young child or older person because of the ladder to climb) The place is super clean, and having your own personal dock is great. We brought a Jon boat to keep at the dock and go fishing, and also brought our kayaks. The Beach, restaurants, grocery store, and hardware store, are just short minutes away. Location of the home is more secluded and peaceful than staying right at the beach. You will love the live oak trees, and glimpses of wildlife about—we saw deer, turkeys, and dolphins. Loved it there.

Perfection
This was our second time staying in this beautiful home. We love the seclusion and peaceful setting. The house had everything you need. The only issue we had was the grill, it should be replaced. Luckily for me it got me out of cooking dinners so it was a win! I’m sure I could have contacted Craig and he would have fixed it immediately but it wasn’t that big of a deal. We absolutely love this home and we’ll definitely be back! So if you’re reading the reviews (like I always do) before making a decision, you should just book this home now you won’t be disappointed!

Quite secluded nice home
Located more than a mile from a main road at the back of an old plantation. The plantation is now a working farm and you wind down a farm lane and then through a security gate to get to the house. It is located on a tidal creek that reaches the ocean a few miles away. The creek is subject to the ocean tides so it flows out then changes and flows back in. It rises and drops over five feet. There isn’t a great floating dock, that provides good fishing, crabing, and boating. Six miles down the road is The small town of Edisto Beach with good ocean beach access, good grocery store, and several nice reasonable restaurants. The locals are very friendly and live a relaxed laid back life where they don’t have to worry about locking their doors. Several “with tongue in cheek” said please don’t tell people about Edisto. They don’t want the influx of more people.

Absolutely delightful property
Would give more stars if I could. Hands down the best VRBO we have stayed at. The owner was easy to work with and very responsive. Can't believe he is willing to share this gem with strangers. We felt privileged to stay here! Immaculate. Lovely decor. Great layout. Wonderful beds and showers. More than enough space for our family of 5. Small coffee pot, toaster, blender, ice cream maker. Convenient laundry space. Best comfy chair to sit in at the living room windows. Beach chairs in the closet were handy for our beach days. Loved hanging out on the porch watching and listening to the marsh. Minimal mosquitoes. The local Edisto books were enjoyable. Our children did not enjoy swimming off the deck. Way too many crabs for their comfort. The currents are quite strong throughout the day. Watch out as you are bringing in your things. We had a crab hitch hike in unnoticed in our bags. He gave us a scare later as he scampered across the floor.

Come enjoy paradise with deep water dock.
This was the most wonderful VRBO home we ever visited!!!!!! WE have been using VRBO for years and have never enjoyed such a stay!!!! The house is beautifully decorated. So much detail and fitting for the house. We enjoyed the peace and quite. The gated community and smaller number of homes was nice and peaceful. So close to the water was perfect. My husband enjoyed fishing from the dock. He even caught blue crab from the dock. We then enjoyed our own small broil. The deck was utilized often by me and my mother-in-law. We really enjoyed coffee in the morning and evening talks in rockers and chairs on deck. We visited town, it is a little ways in, but worth it. The post office restaurant has unbelievable food. Another restaurant was on beach and had excellent views. Beach was full of shells to comb through. My husband spend hours walking it. We are considering going here again in March when our children(24,21) come to visit. You have to visit it, for the experience. The only thing to consider is the loft. It is a little steep to access and the latter is a little unsteady. I would only suggest older children use it. The other rooms are nice size and have their own bathrooms in them. What a Plus. The beds are very comfortable. Lining is soft and comfortable to sleep in. I would suggest to the owner to double assess the kitchen supplies and paper supplies. Thank you so much for sharing your home with us.

Best place ever!
We celebrated our fortieth anniversary here last week. Everything about it was perfect; deep quiet surrounded by marsh life and on a low country island filled with history, nature and character. The owner was incredibly accessible and helped us landlocked Chicagoans figure out how to fish and crab (crab trap is on the floating dock). That was a hilarious and exciting experience((we did catch things)! The beach (a 10 min drive) was also exciting because it fronts unbroken Atlantic waves (can be BIG). We spent lots of time touring Botany Bay, hiking in Edisto Beach State Park, visiting the history museum (really good), ready VERY old tombstones, and canoeing the marsh channels where we saw great and small blue herons, ibis, great and small white egrets, a roseate spoonbill and other amazing wildlife in abundance. One day a pair of dolphins swam the channel that curves around this property, perfectly in parallel unison. The property itself has multiple sweet little seating areas and the hammock was great. The house is beautiful and spotless. It felt very spacious to just two of us. Light-filled, open, welcoming. Craig has several books related to Edisto well worth reading as well as good maps. There are a couple of folding chaise chairs and 2 beach chairs in a closet; no beach towels or toys. The kitchen is small but nice; has quite a few spices and the fridge has a good ice maker. Large kettle for steaming crabs or doing a shrimp boil. Good knives and utensils including a citrus grater and rolling pin. The open living area has a good TV and we were able to get Netflix with no problem. We highly recommend this place if you love the smells and wildlife of the marshland and don't want to be in the thick of the touristy beach (which is only a small part of this big amazing island). It is a deeply restful and renewing place, just what we needed. Thank you Craig! We hope to return sometime. (note: we recommend getting groceries before coming on island since the BiLO on Edisto is often mobbed and kind of small)

The Brown House on Blue House Lane
My wife and I had a wonderful time at the brown house. Arriving from the NY North country the SC marsh area was warm and sunny. It took a few days to adjust to “marsh time”. The red sunrises, the glowing sunsets and the tidal changes of the creek. We loved hanging out on the covered boat dock. It was a great place for lunch, fishing or just sitting in the sun. The amount of wildlife we were able to observe was amazing. The brown house was spotless and inviting, with interesting furnishings and collectibles. It’s a place to relax close to nature, read a book from the local bookstore or practice your photographic skills. We enjoyed long walks in the area near the brown house. The Edisto Environmental Center which has hands on displays, also has nature trails near the shore. The nearby Edisto Historical Museum with many photos and artifacts was our particular favorite. We think beautiful Edisto Island is a very special place.

A special, relaxing location
This is a very special place, both the house and its location. Located on a point overlooking the salt marshes and with a creek running immediately past it, you get beautiful sunsets and sunrises and plenty of fantastic birds and scenery. Craig even set up the crab trap before our arrival, and it had five crabs in it when we checked it the first night! The house is nicely maintained, and the living quarters were very clean, nicely appointed with everything we needed and comfortable. There are multiple places on the property to relax: inside the house, on the house’s second floor deck, in the shade under the house, on the covered pier, and on the bench swing attached to a tree on the point. It is a perfect place for a relaxing getaway. We drove each day to the beach which is only about 15 minutes away. There is a seafood shack just down the main road from the house where you can buy fresh seafood to cook and enjoy back at the house. We feel lucky to have found this special spot and hope to be back to stay there again soon. Thank you, Craig, for opening it to us and being so accommodating!

Our stay in Blue House Lane was spectacular. The location is dreamy and we brought tons of food and just cooked in. We caught fish and crabs and got shrimp and oysters at Flowers Seafood right up the road. Craig was great to talk to and everything was clean and tidy. Perfect amount of space for my husband and our son. Sunrises and sunsets were gorgeous. Can’t wait to return 💛

Another relaxing stay at this Edisto retreat! The location of the home and the serene surroundings always make for a wonderful getaway. Being able to cruise the creeks and dock your boat 20 steps from the home is ideal for someone who loves the water. Hoping Craig will always rent his wonderful property so others can enjoy!

It’s become our yearly trip!
7728 Blue House Lane never disappoints! It’s kind of the illusion of seclusion that you can step away from in a matter of minutes. This year we explored Botany Bay and the only regret is that we hadn’t done it sooner! We fished and crabbed from the dock and launched our kayaks from the dock as well. Found out that dolphins are impressively fast and love for you to play “follow the leader,” them leading of course. We spent a day on the beach, digging castles and fishing and was there for the sunset. Our last night we ate at The Waterfront restaurant and I highly recommend Surf & Turf Stir Fry. It was amazing! Best house on Edisto
We will definitely be coming back to Blue House Lane again and again! The house was perfect for family of 4 and plenty of room for another family to join! We felt like we were on our own private island but close to busy Edisto Beach. The dock provided the kids with endless entertainment! They fished, crabbed and kayaked all day! Craig was available for any questions we had and the house had everything we needed for a wonderful stay!
