Lusch Acres Retreat

This 2-story vacation home in the beautiful Endless Mts. is centrally located just 4 miles south of Dushore on what is known locally as 'Ringer Hill'. Part of the original 1850 homestead of Julius Lusch, this cozy home is privately situated on 6 acres and within a short drive of Worlds End State Park, Eagles Mere, the Loyalsock Trail (hiking to the Haystacks) and Ricketts Glen State Park. The area boasts great fishing in the big and little Loyalsock Creeks as well as some picturesque swimming holes in the big Loyalsock, countless hiking trails and just the simple beauty of nature which surrounds you wherever you go. This is truly a getaway meant for relaxing!

In the home you will find 3 bedrooms (1 queen, 1 full, 2 twins) and 2 baths which allow plenty of room to accommodate 6 guests with all linens provided. (One bedrm & bath on first floor). The open floor plan of the living room & dining room features the warmth and ambience of a beautiful cast iron gas stove with 3-sided fire view, while the flat screen tv with satellite service & DVD player in the living room provides evening entertainment. The fully equipped kitchen offers a gas range, dishwasher, full size refrigerator, microwave, toaster and coffee maker. We provide a comprehensive selection of cooking spices & coffee for your stay. We also start you off with minimal complimentary paper products (napkins, paper towels & toilet paper) but recommend that you buy/bring extra for your stay at the Retreat. The entry mud room is large enough to store boots, coats and sporting equipment and has a washer & dryer for added convenience. There is also a sunny three-season room with comfortable seating as well as a table & chairs for games or meals. Relax on the decks at both the front and the back of the house or around the firepit in the spacious back yard. SMOKING AND PETS ARE NOT ALLOWED. Anyone disregarding these rules will be asked to leave AND will be charged a $200 cleaning fee. We ask that guests be courteous to the home owners and to other guests by abiding by these rules. We work hard to provide a comfortable, clean home for our guests to enjoy and ask that they, in return, be respectful of the property. Minimum age for all renters is 21 unless accompanied by a parent, and ID's are checked by the property owners. Check-in is after 4pm and Check-out is promptly at 11 a.m. In preparation of cleaning the house and getting it ready for the next guests, we have a checklist of minimal things to do before you leave (such as washing dishes, removing sheets from beds, etc.). Our cleaning fee assumes that these things will be done, but any renters who do not want to do them have the option of paying a higher cleaning fee.

Weekend Getaway
This house is set out in a country setting with plenty of outdoor seating. Perfect place to relax and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. The house is just minutes away from downtown Dushore. The house is both cozy and spacious. It is clean and well maintained. It is close to a couple state parks where you can hike and enjoy the numerous waterfalls. We enjoyed our stay!

Great place to stay, it has a big outside deck on three sides of the house, with a big sun room. Comfortable beds, everything we needed and more. Seen deer everyday, on a quiet road with very little traffic. Wish we could have stayed longer.

Cozy cottage
We’ve been here several times now and really enjoy the retreat. It’s back far enough from the beaten path to be quiet, although there seems to be a little more road traffic than last year, but that could be due to several new homes being built nearby. We always see deer on the property and there’s lots to do nearby. Always a fun getaway!

Cozy get away
Came with daughter and grandson. There was some snow still left so my grandson had a great time playing in it! We played ball in the front yard where the snow had melted. Took a walk down the road and had some cozy time reading and watching movies Nice place for a weekend getaway for us Would recommend and would stay there again without a doubt.

Excellent Vacation Experience!
John and Kay, We had a great time at the Retreat! Even nicer in person than pictures and description on the internet. Clean and comfortable. Just bring food. Quiet and secluded, yet only a few miles from Dushore and State parks. We look forward to returning next year!

Always a GREAT getaway!
I can't tell you how much my family need this trip and Kay and John made it perfect having this beautiful place available. This has been a crazy season for our family my daughter had just gone through brain surgery to have a tumor removed we all needed a getaway. Lusch Acres Retreat was just what was needed. There is everything you could need and so much to do and also comfortable enough to just relax and just be. Our family plans on making this a yearly trip.

It Was Perfect!!
John and Kay, we enjoyed our stay, you really have thought of everything for this place. This home has everything you'll need to spend a relaxing weekend away from it all. Very clean and comfortable (best sleep I've had in a while) and the fireplace was perfect during that rainy Friday night. I can't stop raving about the whole place, will definitely come back during the warmer months. Hope you enjoy the rum John, thank you both!

Perfect Anniversary trip!
Our stay was the PERFECT way to spend our wedding anniversary! We enjoyed the peace and quiet and took in the beauty of the surroundings! The accommodations were so warm, cozy and inviting -- John and Kay thought of absolutely everything to make us feel at home (or even better). Our toddler enjoyed exploring every nook and cranny of this beautiful home and the outdoors. We had the perfect spring weather and can't wait to come back to enjoy Dushore and its beauty in the other seasons! Thanks again for an amazing stay, definitely will recommend to all!

Clean, roomy quiet retreat
We found this loacation to be an excellant find. The available linens, towels and other essential needs were all a nice addition. Clean and roomy, house was well furnished. Everything was as described. Only problem was lack of working internet- but that was probably a good thing being on a vacation.

Wonderful!
Cozy house, with EVERYTHING you need (except food) and more. Location is great to do Eagles Mere, Dushore, Laporte, Forksville, Hillsgrove & Shunk whatever you choose. It is also great to do nothing but relax, grill, play yard games & enjoy the fire pit. Thanks John & Kay!!!

Good option to get away
Spacious house for up to 6, plenty of tables for eating : inside, sunroom, and outside deck (this is key since you don't want to eat out right now). Plenty of outdoor space and fire pit as well. ~1/2 hr from Ricketts Glen, and even closer to World's End State Parks. Lots of recommendations for things to do and food provided by the owners. Downsides are the AC units couldn't keep up in the >90 deg weather, and small kitchen (but included plenty of staples and prep/cook ware).

A true Retreat
Rented this house for a weekend. We want to own it! Everything was perfect. Sitting on the deck and watching the deer and bear made the weekend. Walking the road was safe. It's a good location for trips to the haystacks, World's End and Rickett's Glen State Park. Dushore has hand dipped ice cream, grocery stores, restaurants (220 House is amazing) and a small playground. We'll be back.

The home is welcoming. I am picky about towels, sheets, smells and this home passed with flying colors. Water pressure in upstairs shower was awesome. We hiked in Loyalsock; gorgeous. One note... you either have to take trash or leave cash. We only had one small bag so we took it with us.

Out amongst the stars
We loved everything about this home, except for the spotty internet, but that is to be expected in the mountains! We had booked this to observe the meteor shower and to do some hiking. It was perfect for observing the night sky. We so appreciated the comfort of this home. It was immaculate with all the comforts of home. We only stayed two nights, wish it could have been longer. The directions to get there were clear, we had no issues. The instructions/house rules were also easy to understand and follow. I could go on but I will just say we had a great time and would love to book again.

Beautiful location, house needs updates
The house is very nice ,beautiful views. But the smell of mold inside. The notes everywhere about something is broken or "don't do that" are too much. It's better to just fix it instead of notifying. It felt annoying to see those notes at many places in the house. The end of it, to pay for the garbage bag $ 4()It might be normal for this neighborhood. We rented many properties at VRBO and never had such a request. I found it unfriendly to the customers. The internet is excellent considering the overall poor connection in the mountains. That could be the highest possible rating if the house got updated.

Just what our family needed, absolutely perfect.
This place is perfect, it was just what I needed as well as my daughter and son in law. Not to big, but plenty of room that we had our own space which is great when you are getting away with a fairly newly married couple. Beautiful setting, clean place. All the comforts of home but none of the stress. I love that Kay and John live close by so if you do something silly like we did and lock the oven on self cleaning with your dinner in it you have contacts to call. Oh and it is a great location, it no more than 20-30 min away from all my favorite places. Worlds End, Eaglesmare, Forksville General Store, and Ricketts Glenn. We only got to meet Kay but she could not have been any nicer. I will be coming back and so will my daughter and son in law. Thank you, John and Kay for providing such a beautiful, affordable and clean getaway.

Beautiful scenic getaway
This immaculately clean and cozy home was the perfect place for my husband and me to enjoy nature and get away from it all. Everything we needed for our two night stay was provided except for food and at a very reasonable rate. The home is situated in a private setting up on a hill and the scenery is gorgeous. The owners are nearby and available if any problems arise. A few short miles from town, and you can visit several nice eateries. We especially enjoyed Mary Beth's Westside Deli for lunch and 220 House for dinner (both located right in the town of Dushore). There are many places to hike in the area .or you can walk along the roads which have very little traffic. We totally enjoyed a campfire our first night there. The mountain views in the Dushore area are just beautiful and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We are definitely planning to return to this rental.

Weekend Getaway
My husband and I enjoyed a weekend getaway and this house and location were perfect for our little trip. This house is very clean and wonderfully taken care of. It is well thought out as far as your needs. A home away from home. This is the second time we have stayed here. We will definitely come back in the future.
