There is satellite TV showing the main UK channels in addition to about 50 other channels, French TV channels are available via the installed Orange cable service and also a Bose sound-dock to play your own music. The villa also enjoys WiFi internet access with high speed fibre broadband. As it is built on a sloping site the villa is entered at first floor level. There is an open plan staircase down to the very spacious living / dining area. The open plan kitchen, fully equipped with fridge, freezer, oven, hob, microwave, dishwasher and washing machine adjoins this room. The master bedroom with large double bed and ensuite shower room is a mezzanine floor partially above this area and there is a further twin bedroom and house bathroom with bath and shower on the upper floor. There are South facing doors opening onto the comfortably furnished, very private patio and pool area with sun loungers for lazy days, a table and chairs for al fresco dining and a large parasol for when the sun is a little too strong.
Durban Corbieres is a lovely village superbly situated to make the most of the fascinating and varied landscape of Languedoc. Everything you need can be found locally, the village has a bank, doctor, dentist and pharmacy. Of course there is a boulangerie, a bar / restaurant and a well stocked supermarket providing all your daily requirements. For those looking for something more special just 10km away in Fontjoncouse is the superb, 3 Michelin star Auberge de Vieux Puits.
The region has 300 km of unspoilt beaches stretching from the Cote d'Azur to the Spanish border, over 40 of which have blue flag status, to the medieval castles of the Cathars. Not forgetting of course some of the best wine growing regions in France.
The region enjoys a superb climate: Daytime temperatures in summer average 30 degrees and 20 degrees at night, making it just about the perfect climate for a holiday. This region boasts over 300 sunny days a year with an annual average of 22 degrees, great for a week away from the hustle and bustle at any time of year.
Activities: The Cathar Way long distance footpath passes through Durban Corbieres and explores all the main Cathar sites or for the less ambitious there are a multitude of walks through the vineyards enjoying the scents of the juniper, wild thyme, rosemary and lavender which grow in the wild garrigae landscapes of the region.
An unmissable Languedoc experience is to walk, boat or cycle along the tree lined Canal du Midi which passes just a few miles from Durban Corbieres.
Alternatively enjoy the quiet roads and cycle among the vineyards stopping at a cafe to enjoy a well deserved drink or snack. The French love of cycling is well known and the respect and space given to cyclists is a wonderful change from being in the UK.
The more active can find everything from tennis to kite surfing on the lagoons at Leucate.
As little as 70 miles away is the Pyrenean ski centre of Formigueres which has an enviable reputation for reliable snow and beautiful sunny weather.
