This magnificent, rural retreat makes the perfect base for families and friends looking to escape the hustle and bustle in breathtaking surroundings. The area is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts, with local activities including horse riding, climbing, cycling, golf, fishing, sailing and wild swimming. You’ll also be spoilt for choice when it comes to walking; from waterside strolls at Gare Loch (5 miles) to exhilarating hikes at Ben Lomond (25 miles). The long-distance John Muir Trail also passes nearby – just a 2-mile walk from the house, with great views of Loch Lomond. The pretty conservation village of Luss (13 miles) on the shores of Loch Lomond makes a lovely day out. Helensburgh (5 miles) has a good range of eateries, a cinema, a swimming pool and a sports centre. Head to Glasgow – just 45 minutes away by train – and explore its vibrant cultural scene and visit museums and art galleries.
The 18th-century holiday home is steeped in history and has been decorated and furnished in an elegant style that complements the property’s original features. Leave coats and boots in the entrance porch, before exploring the rest of the home. On the ground floor, a fabulous kitchen/diner awaits, with country-cottage styling and all the equipment needed to cater for a large group, including a Range-style oven. Gather here, after a day of adventure, to share delicious, home-cooked feasts around the wooden dining table. Also on this floor is an inviting twin bedroom with an en-suite bathroom with a bath and separate shower. Heading up to the first floor, you’ll find a cosy lounge with a roaring open fire set for your arrival and original sash windows framing peaceful views of the garden. Unwind here, on the plush seating, reading a book or enjoying a film on the Smart TV. This floor has a gorgeous double bedroom with crisp linens and statement wallpaper. Rounding off this level is a family bathroom and a handy utility room with a washing machine. The remaining bedrooms – a sumptuous double and a twin – are located on the second floor.
Outside, to the front of the property, is a sunny patio area with outdoor furniture and a BBQ for al fresco entertaining. You are also welcome to enjoy the owner’s grounds, which envelop the property. Take a stroll through the woodlands, say hello to the chickens in the wild paddock, or amble along the pretty burn which runs through the grounds. Private parking is available for three cars.
