I loved being embedded in the zoo within sight of the giraffes and the rhinoceros while being closely surrounded by peacefully grazing kangaroos

Kangaroos at your doorstep!
The cabins are lovely and clean, we stayed in no. 12 and we had kangaroos jumping all around and we could see the giraffes in the far distance. It would have been good to know more clearly that they were self catering because they left sausages and bacon but we were all vegetarians. Highly recommended, so close to the zoo, so you can have a break and then return to the zoo. Not convenient if you don't come by car. It was very hot as airconditioning in only one room, fans in other rooms.

Like living in an African safari park in Australia
Right next to the Savannah enclosure of the Tooronga Western Plains Zoo these cabins have all the modern conveniences including (sign of relief) air conditioning, which we needed in the heat of Summer. Each night we would be surrounded by mobs of kangaroos and woken in the morning to the birdsong, while across the way giraffe, rhinos and more roamed the savannah.

Quiet location and children enjoyed seeing kangaroos. No microwave in our cabin which would have been useful (but there is an oven). Air con only in lounge room so didn’t reach to all bedrooms, end bedroom was very hot. There are fans in all rooms though, but still stuffy without air con.

We really enjoyed our stay at savannah cabins. The cabins were well appointed and very comfortable for a family of four. We had a grandparent with us too so made use of the sofa bed in the lounge/kitchen which was comfortable enough. The location was great with lots of birds and wildlife on the doorstep. We could see giraffes and rhinos in the distance too from our lodge and kangaroos literally metres away from us. The zoo entrance is only a two minute drive away too. All in all a great stay!

Location was fantastic, the way the cabins ate designed you hace views everywhere and they are very tastefully done. I will be coming back again with my family and staying longer.

We love the quiet location and the fact that the unit has all the cooking equipments needed to make meals. Bear in mind this property doesn't have room service, etc and behind a gate next to the zoo. So you'll need to byo. Easy in and out of the gate with your car though.

A must for first timers in Dubbo
If you are a family and want to see the zoo you can’t go past this. It was a great experience. Massive windows from all rooms looking over the zoo and a mob of Kangroos just outside the unit in the morning. There were even a pair of binoculars. Good airconditioning even though it was below zero outside and the whole place is roomy and modern. However; there was a problem as we came in late. I had phoned ahead and was told that reception was open until 6pm. We arrived after 5pm to find the zoo shut at 4:30pm.We finally tracked down someone who gave us directions and instructions, They were great even phoning the cabin to check we had arrived safely.

supurb stay right near the Giraffes
Fabulous experience so close to the Giraffe enclosure, with a beautiful outlook. Not to mention while we stayed at the Savannah cabins at Dubbo zoo, the experience also to watch beautiful sunset and sunrise over the savannah like fields and watching the wild kangaroos hopping along the field

Great Zoo Stay
Savannah Cabins are well worth a visit when going to the Western Plains Zoo. Cabins are well appointed and comfortable and as an added bonus the Giraffe's are so close by! The only disappointment was that previous guests had smoked in the cabin and the smell was terrible! Aside from that, a great stay.

Great facilities and location but NEED a car
The cabins are very comfortable, clean and lovely to stay in. They are right near the zoo but you do need a car to get there and go between the cabins and the zoo. The included food hampers were underwhelming and we needed to buy some extra food to supplement them.

You delivered what you promised in the brochure and that is rare in accomodation & hospitality these days - so thank you. The Savannah cabins are stylish, comfy, modern & nestle into the surroundings beautifully. And very appreciative of the binoculars.
