Great location, clean, very strange owner
First the property is nice, good location and very clean.
When I booked it for a week (paid in full), the owner refunded 2/3 of the fee, then asked me to resend the money. He tried to add it to the original bill so it looks like it was much larger amount. Seemed innocent, but to be sure I contacted Vrbo and they confirmed in email, I only owed the original and to go ahead and pay him again.
Seemed fine. He was a little weird about insisting on meeting us, but he left us quite a bit of food. Very nice but we didn’t ask for it. Then he kept saying over and over he needed a good review. Makes sense.
He then texted and emailed that we owed him more money for an apartment fee in cash. we paid it, hoping that was the end. He continued to text us everyday about when we were leaving. We were paid in full for entire time.
We actually left 2 days early and he was insistent on coming in person to get the keys. He shows up 30 min early while we r packing so he hurried us out.
Then 2 days later I get a bill - so I text him and he says Vrbo fined him and he needs that from us. I called Vrbo and they confirmed we don’t owe anything. As soon as I told him that he refused to refund our damage deposit.
Vrbo is supposed to be requesting documentation from him on the “damages” but I’m not holding my breath.
Very strange, maybe scam? I don’t know, he definitely held our security deposit for no reason.
Al things equal, might skip this one.
