The hotel in general is in a great condition. Breakfast was good. The rooms were clean. The hotel is not that new but they keep it in a good condition. The neighborhood of the hotel is not the best, there is not a lot of places to eat and it is kind of scary to walk around there at night. Moreover, there is a 3 Euro City Tax charge that is not included in the price.

Wouldn't stay there again...
When we arrived at the front desk, the attendant was nice, but unhelpful. She clearly was not knowledgeable of the hotel and her surroundings. She gave us a room number that was on the 5th floor, and told us was on the 5th floor, but when we went to find it, it wasn't there. Turns out it was on the 4th floor and up a flight of stairs. We were traveling with extensive luggage and it was not the most convenient location. We also incurred to her about where to park our vehicle without getting a ticket or getting towed. She was not helpful at all about finding a spot, only telling us she thought we'd be okay parked on the street. It is understandable that the hotel doesn't have reserved parking, but a little more guidance would be appreciated. Especially since we had no knowledge about local laws or enforcement of those laws. The room was large, nice, but dated. The wifi connection was horrible. Very spotty.

Good Hotel, Not so Good Location
The room was clean and comfortable. Good ventilation, clean and new linens, comfortable bedding, good shower, and fresh towels. The reception area is very nice and the staff helpful. All spoke good English and were very knowledgeable. Lots of information about the city in the lobby free of charge for guests. WiFi connection in our room was also good. The hotel is easy to find, however, parking is very difficult. Parking curbside is free, but very tight and limited as the hotel is located among many apartments. The neighborhood itself was dingy and we were very unsure of it upon entering. Lots of graffiti sprayed through the streets, rundown shops, and the look of a lower income area. During the day the area felt very safe, but at night somewhat different. The hotel is next to the city train which makes commuting to the Altstadt easy. Breakfast was delicious and very reasonable. Overall, would recommend for single person or a couple, but with the parking and neighborhood it was not the best choice for us as we had our toddler with us.

NO Climate Control!
I booked a Family Room with Climate Control. It did not have it! Our room was 32C(90F)degrees when we walked in. I went downstairs to find out why we didn't have Climate Control the desk said none of the Family rooms have Climate Control. I asked if they had a portable Air Conditioner their answer, NO. Instead the desk gave us another desk fan to go with the other desk fan already in our room. To make matters worse the main window was broken. We had one small window that opened over the smoking area and was in a privacy nook in the corner. We had no breeze in our room. It was so hot that one of our kids had nose bleeds from the heat. The last night they finally had another room for us to move to, still no climate control. I understand that Germany is hot 2 weeks a year, that is why I booked a room with Climate Control Aka. Air Conditioning.

No stuff upon arrival at 7pm. NO WI FI although advertised and no apologies. NO shampoo and no working phone in the room. Then they had a nerve to ask extra for city tax and breakfast which I did not have. Couldn't call Expedia as had no wi fi and had to pay double for my bus as couldn't make reservation online - lost a day. Just unacceptable.

Hotel Pros/Cons
The hotel is well situated for visiting city of Dresden with very good connections by tram to all important locations. Our room had no view of merit looking onto a dismal courtyard area for adjoining apartments. The bathroom and internal hotel decor is in need of a refresh in some areas eg worn carpets on stairwells and evidence of previous water leakage on shower cabinet panels. During our 4 breakfasts the hot buffet never changed and had very limited choice.

Big room!
We had a family room that was double the size of any other hotel room we have had before. Staff was really friendly and assisted us with anything we needed. Location was decent parking can be a pain but we were always able to find a spot. Would stay here again.

Absolutely perfect if you have a car
A minor problem with driving a car is that the hotels that have free parking are generally very far away from the city center. Tryp is the exception. Because of 24 hour trams, the hotel is always within easy reach of the city center. The tram is roughly a 8-10 minute walk from the hotel. Once in the tram, it is only 4 stops to the center. Yes, it is even bike-able. Tryp offers to rent bikes for 9 euro a day. Further, the hotel is located very close the the Neustadt, which has all the good, non-touristy bars and restaurants. As far as the hotel itself, it has character. There is a restaurant in the basement. It is fine, expect the waitress keeps having to run upstairs to get the food. They could use a little music or something. It is very quiet. The room is fine and spacious. Other than not having wash clothes, I have no complaints.

Nice quiet stay for myself, my wife and 3 children ages 9, 11, and 18. Hotel restuarant was good and reasonably priced.

Nice looking hotel close to trendy area
We had a good stay. Even though being part of a chain, the hotel has retained some of our original character. The best about the Tryp was the location, near the hip area with great restaurants and bars. We walked there from the train station, which was a bit far, but we got to see a lot. The breakfast buffet was amazing! We are vegan and there were lots choices! The only downside were the very squeaky floor boards and that there was no kettle and tea/coffee in the room as well as only a shower cream/shampoo in the bathroom. So be sure to bring your own toiletries.

The hotel was nice for what our needs were. If we would stayed longer than a day, we would have used another hotel. Parking is very hard to find. Local transportation is great! Neighborhood (middle and working class) was safe just a lot of graffiti.

Bowl is fine for one night. Arrived late, left early. No frills, very basic. The floor creaked everywhere I walled. Team line runs past the front of the hotel. Very odd and dated. About 2 km from the train station or 3 km from the city center

Convenient location; free street parking; outside of central Dresden but with urban tram at corner; traditional European breakfast with hot scrambled eggs and sausages, sliced meats and cheeses, fruit, yogurts and dry cereals; many informational brochures on hand; Hotel staff not overly helpful, many times not at desk.

Quick stopover with no parking
Parking parking parking! We arrived at 11 PM and virtually all the street parking was unavailable. However the hotel was nice, the room was spacious and the breakfast was great! We were only there as a stopover and left early the next morning so I'm not very qualified to comment on the surrounding area. However, trying to find parking that evening, you didn't have to travel hundred meters before you were surrounded by graffiti--though I'm not sure that's indicative of anything. Regardless, it worked great for us and I'd stay again.

No Parking
Pretty average hotel, however good luck finding parking. To check in, I had to park halfway on the sidewalk and halfway in the street. When I asked about parking I was told I would have to find my own on the street. In the evening every spot is full, and it took a while driving around the blocks to find someone leaving. Also there is somehting wierd with the key, they don't want you to leave the hotel with it, so they give you a card you are supposed to give the front desk to hold you key for you while you leave.
