"Chonor House is a gem and an ideal place to stay in McLeod Ganj/Dharamsala for those interested in Tibetan culture and the Dalai Lama. It's just a short walk from the Main Temple where the Dalai Lama addresses the public from time to time and where you can see daily debates among the monks as well as sacred and beautiful Buddhist objects. Another monastery is even closer, and monks regularly drank tea and ate alongside us in the Chonor House restaurant. The hotel is affiliated with the Norbulingka Institiute, which works to preserve the techniques of Tibetan art, so Chonor House is beautifully decorated in the Tibetan style and has free passes to Norbulingka itself. Enthusiastically recommended!"

"The view is very awesome and property too good "

"The hotel did not switch on generator for about 3 to 4 hours at night when regular electric supply was disrupted. On complaining ,the staff said that as customers did not request for generator supply, they did not switch it on. Their position was that now since you asked for it, we shall switch the generator on whereas it should have been a matter of routine in the event of power disruption. Secondly, regardless of discomfort & disturbance to guests, continous hammering was resorted to at night from 2230 hours onwards for about an hour or so. It is not understood why construction work has to be done at that time. Thirdly, the hotel should employ a trained South Indian cuisine cook--- the breakfast served of dosa , tomato & coconut chutneys & sambar was pathetic & totally substandard."

"Good location in McLeod. Spacious room, hot water worked well & although the room was very cold at night, they provided a heater for approx. £3 per night. Good value for money overall! "
