Private Cottage Steps to the Beach-just four homes back from the dunes & ocean

I have named my beach cottage La Sauterelle – French for grasshopper – in honor of the copper grasshopper weather vane that has graced the top of my beach home for many years. The grasshopper is a symbol of good luck but I do not have them in the house!
This single family cottage is at the end of one of the last sandy lanes in Dewey Beach. It is only 50 yards or so back from the sand dunes, beach and ocean at the end of the street. Perfect for quick trips back and forth from the beach for lunch, snacks, refreshments or naps for the little ones. Wonderful outdoor shower. No major highway to cross in this residential area. And you can easily stroll to all the restaurants and entertainment in Dewey. Or hop the Jolly Trolley on the corner for a quick fun open-air ride into Rehoboth Beach which is just one short mile up the road.
This two-story, two-bedroom, 1.5 bath home is a classic cedar-shingled cottage. Tastefully furnished combined living and dining areas, fully equipped and modern kitchen, one bedroom (queen size bed) and one full bath on the ground floor With a full washer and dryer. A side entrance leads to a wonderful outdoor shower and a weber propane gas grill.
The circular staircase takes you to the loft bedroom (king size bed) on the second floor with an adjoining half bath. An entrance off the second floor leads you to a dramatic rooftop deck with upholstered patio furniture, table and umbrella. Perfect for enjoying the ocean breeze, sunset and evening cocktails.
This well-maintained home features warm pine paneling throughout, tongue and groove wood ceilings, vaulted ceiling in the dining/kitchen area with skylights, gleaming hardwood floors in the living areas and in the cozy loft bedroom. The living room features ample upscale seating with one full size sofa and one love seat, Custom plantation shutters and two French doors And a propane fireplace for use during the months of September and October only.
There is a small deck/stoop on the front with one dedicated parking spot on the side The home has cable TV, wifi, stereo, baseboard heating and AC.
Occupancy limited to four.

Coffee-maker, blender and all standard equipment is supplied.
• Two bedrooms – one on the first floor with a queen size bed and one in the second floor loft with a king size bed. Designer bed coverings with comfortable updated mattresses.
• Full size washer and dryer in the first floor bathroom.
• 1.5 Bathrooms – one full bath with tub and shower on the first floor and one half bath on the second floor. Additional outdoor shower on the side of the home.
• Ceiling fans throughout.
• Gas barbeque grill.
• Parking for one mid-size car on the side of the cottage.

Lovely Cottage Wonderful Host
We had a lovely stay at Nancy's little cottage. It was equipped with everything you could possibly need. Nancy (the Host) was SO accommodating to us. She really makes you feel like you are in your home away from home! Just steps away from the beach and town makes this a perfect location for your vacation. I highly recommend this property!!

The perfect cottage!
This little cottage home was absolutely perfect. The location is amazing. So easy to get to the beach and to walk to many places in Dewey. The beds were comfortable and the house had everything we needed. The host, Nancy, was also fantastic. She is easy to get ahold of and super accommodating and responsive. Couldn’t have asked for a better experience. And we would definitely stay there again.

The cottage is a perfect location for those who want to spend the day on the beach. It is located near the nightlife in Dewey but far enough off of the main strip that it is also quiet. We all enjoyed the deck on the top of the cottage.

We just got back from Nancy's little cottage on Dewey beach and it was AMAZING!! This little hidden gem is the perfect place. It is steps away from the beach and also steps away from numerous restaurants. The house itself was very clean and had everything you would need to have the perfect stay.

Nancy’s cottage was exactly as described, 90 second walk to the beach, 90 second walk to the restaurants. Perfect home for us and our two dogs. And as always, Dewey Beach itself was beautiful and relaxing! We will be back!

GREAT VACATION SPOT
My husband and I and our two small dogs loved the cottage. My brother and his wife came for 3 nights. The place is so comfortable and has all the kitchen supplies you will need. It is so close to the beach and we loved sitting on the high deck. Nancy, the owner is so helpful if you need anything.

We had a wonderful time at Nancy's beautiful beach house. The roof top deck was so perfect for breakfast and dinner and some beach yoga! We were steps away from the beach and our whole family including our two small dogs and three year old daughter had a fantastic time. We now want our own house in Dewey we loved it so much. Thanks for a nicely stocked and lovely home with everything we needed Nancy.

This is our second trip to cricket cottage and once again, we had a wonderful time! You're so close to everything you need, the beach, shops, restaurants, etc that the car doesn't move all week. Even though you're close to everything and the "heart of the party" the cottage is set back, making it private and quiet. The access to the beach is easy and the outside shower is the best! Great place for our small family and pet! We will go back for sure!

great cottage property in the absolute heart of Dewey. turn left - 1 minute walk to the beach - turn right 1 minute to downtown life. I was impressed by the cleanliness, which is my most important need. Very comfortable king size bed. Dewey is a very nice beach. The cottage is also located very close to Rehobeth Beach and Dewey. Nancy was so very helpful and concerned for my needs.

FABULOUS
This cottage was perfect for my family of three plus our dog. The location was super close to the beach as well as all the shops and restaurants. It was close to everything but still quiet and private. The kitchen was well equipped, the beds and furniture were comfortable, and the house itself was just adorable. Nancy was an Excellent hostess, she was easy to contact and quick to respond to any questions. GREAT EXPERIENCE all around!

Great place
This was a cute, small place to stay. It’s just 4 of us and our dog, so it fit our needs well. The outside shower was great. Quiet neighborhood and super close to the beach. Parking was a little tight, but we have a truck, so that’s something we are used to. The air conditioners are very loud, but keep the place comfortable. The only cleanliness issue (that wasn’t a big issue) was a lot of dust on the lights, fans, & curtains, but it was clean overall. We would stay here again. It’s a great place.

Great Beach Cottage
My husband and I loved this little cottage that was a welcome change from the modern condos. Although it is situated among other properties, it felt very private inside. The proximity to the beach is a perfect two minute walk. Nancy has thought of everything when it comes to amenities making this feel like a cozy home. My only critique would be that the outdoor gas grill doesn't work that great but that wouldn't stop me from renting this cottage again.

Ideal location if travelling with older kids and/or dogs
A peaceful retreat. The location is ideal - it's within walking distance to Dewey restaurants/shops and the beach. It's also a quick drive to Rehoboth (5 mins) and Bethany (15 mins). The pictures on the listing don't do this property justice. The home features a brand new roof top deck and the property is well-maintained and well-equipped with kitchen and cleaning items. Great for dogs and families, but recommended for older children, not toddlers/infants given the spiral staircase. We would definitely stay again! Great communication with the owner, too. Thank you!

Perfect beach cottage!
We come to Dewey every year, and have stayed in a number of places. This was a great house for us - my husband, my mother, myself, and our dog. The proximity to the beach, and size of the house were simply perfect. We found everything we could possibly need and we enjoyed sitting outside on the deck every night. I will say that as the temps ticked up, as expected in July, the loft bedroom got pretty warm. But we certainly managed and slept well! Nancy was communicative and helpful when needed. We will be back next summer!

cute bungalow with awesome roof top!
Kitchen was well supplied. Great 3 televisions. Walking distance to beach and restaurants. Only drawback was air conditioner cuts on and off constantly as energy saving but it is noisy when trying to sleep. Should put duck sign at top of stairs to 2nd floor. All signage at the lights should be in big print typed , so it is easy to read without glasses as you move to a light switch.

You'll fall in love
This cottage was so fantastic for our family vacation! It was steps from the beach, which was so helpful. We were able to go to the beach in the morning, back to the cottage for lunch, then to the beach in the afternoon. Just as convenient was the cottage's location to restaurants! Steps away from Woody's and the main strip of Dewey. Also very easy to hop on the Jolly Trolley for a quick trip up to Rehoboth. Nancy, the owner, was so lovely and kind. She was very accessible (not that we needed her!) and she made sure our stay was great. I would definitely stay at Nancy's cottage again, and return to Dewey Beach. We had a perfect family vacation!

Amazing Little Cabin
The cabin is right around 1200 ft. It’s perfect for a family of 4 with a dog. The kitchen was well stocked with spices, extra trash bags, coffee filters, ice maker AND ice trays, and pots and pans. We weren’t at a loss for anything. The only reason I didn’t give it a 5 star for cleanliness was due to some sand on the floor upon our arrival-however, I feel like this is more of the fault of the cleaning company and not the fault of the owner. The toilets and bathrooms were very clean. We were steps from the beach and loved the proximity to Starboards and Woodys. Both places had delicious food and something for everyone.

Location, Location, Location!!!
This house is in the absolute perfect location. Bars and restaurants to the right and the beach to the left!! We walked anywhere and everywhere we had to go. And, as all the action surrounded us, once we were inside this charming little beach cottage, all was calm, quiet and peaceful. My son and daughter and his dog joined us for the first part of the vacation from Sunday - Tuesday and then my girlfriend and her husband joined us from Wednesday- Friday after they left. The house is literally three houses from the beach. Every morning, I was able to walk just steps to the beach to see the sunrise. I’m a photographer and had the opportunity to take some amazing images during our vacation time. The house has plenty of room for four people, beds were super comfortable and the house smelled super clean when we arrived. We had a few days of wicked wind on the beach, so we opted for time on the rooftop deck, which was absolutely awesome. It was warm and cozy up there, and you can literally hear the waves crashing onto the shore from the rooftop. I can’t tell you how many times I close my eyes and drifted off. Unfortunately, our time expired and we had to go home. I would love to come back someday it is a perfect, perfect little cottage!!!!!
