Unfortunately, this stay was below average. We have stayed before and consider Shinola as a higher-end option. The room was far corner accessible room with very worn furniture, rug.... We canceled our room service due to a long wait past the time shared it would arrive. For $500 , we expect higher service than this and will no longer consider Shinola when staying in Detroit.

The hotel physically is great but remains focused on style over substance. On service failings, at check in i had to prompt for information on the included breakfast and was told where it was but was not goven the correct hours. At breakfast, the San Morello staff had zero idea what i was talking about and told me to speak with the front desk who told me that breakfast ended at 10am, that it was my fault for not knowing, and if i had any issues to reaxh out to expedia. Not a greaf experience. The prior evening, at the hotel bar the hostess asked me if i was "squinting at her;" 14 hours later i am still unable to formulate a reasonable answer to such a level of gall and unprofessionalism bordering on disrespect. While I could continue with service failings it's not a good use of time.
